My goal was to ingest as many members of the animal kingdom in taco form as humanly possible while keeping hydrated with as much beer, wine, rum, vodka and tequila as my body would allow. The end result? Why, ELATION… of course. In short summary… mixed drinks with rum and tequila and vodka… white wines, red wines… victoria and peroni beer chasers… ultimately chased with straight up tequila shots to aid digestion of… tacos. VEGGIE(wtf was i thinking!?) GROUNDBEEF ALPASTOR CARNITAS CHICKENMOLE MARLIN BLUEBERRYCHICKEN DUCKCONFIT LAMB COCHINITAPIBIL TINGADEPULPO(OCTOPUS) SHRIMPANDCAVIAR VEAL GOAT CEVICHETOSTADA These were actually just the tacos I was sober enough to take halfway decent pictures of prior to this… and this and this I cant even really explain… I kinda remember asking the wife if she saw that zebra chasing a cheetah… Oh and this cool Korean dude asked to take a picture with me… or was it vice versa? Despite not being Mexican… he seemed to know his way around a taco truck…

Tacos & Tequila … A perfect Saturday night. The Taco Tequila Tryst @ Paramount Studios was a fun and filling(OMG I’m so full) event. Host Roy Choi is just cool. He was greeting people at the entrance with High Fives and then later was just hanging out and talking to just about anyone friendly enough to say hi. For tacos… take you your pick like Black Cod, Mahi Mahi, or Fried Sea Bass. Standards like Carnitas and Chicken were everywhere, but even better was trying the Duck Confit, Short Rib, Lamb, Goat, Octopus, or Tofu. Tacos weren’t just soft or hard, you could get sweet, spicy, and even steamed. It was impossible to resist trying almost all of them. For drinks, we sampled Tequila, Margaritas, Wines, and Beer. We tried hitting the places we liked a 2nd time, but were stuffed. The winners in my book: * Yamashiro * Kogi * Corkbar * Chichen Itza * Hornitos * Ruta 22 The entertainment was nice and I was impressed how outgoing everyone was. Kudos to the event organizers for a fun evening!

Tons of tasty tacos tantalize tiny tastebuds. Tip-toed towards trickles of tequila turning into trouble! Two tickets to The Taste LA: Taco Tequila Tryst, TERRIFIC! :D What’s better than winning tickets to The Taste: Taco Tequila Tryst for Jin Y. and me? Going to the event and running into some of my favorite Unilocalers! You’re probably wondering, «What is a VEGAN doing at a taco tasting? What a waste of a $ 125 ticket!» Umm… you’re just jealous because I got to kick it on the Paramount lot, get a high five from chef Roy Choi, and witness Karey R. have a conversation with actress Kathy Griffin. And thanks to Andrea V. who arrived 30 minutes before I did, she pointed me in the direction of a Grilled Veggie Taco at the Mercado tent. Then I got a hot tip from the lovely Karey R. and Mary C. that the Kogi Truck had a super short line for Tofu Tacos. Score! Tofu with sesame-chili salsa, cabbage tossed in a chili-soy vinaigrette, and cilantro-green onion-lime relish. I helped myself to two Tofu Tacos ;D Already feeling full, I found my way to B Sweet Catering«Global Tacos» where they featured a Chinese Taco of marinated tofu, Asian slaw and chili sauce. We treated ourselves to plenty beverages: — A yummy Watermelon drink from Red O. — A tasty Jamaica(hibiscus) drink and not too sweet Horchata from the Hoy Café/Lounge presented by Time Warner. — A Sangria from SkinnyGirl that I was very«meh» about. — A Moscato from an unknown winery. — A Vodka drink that tasted like medicine(bleh!) from OR-G Liqueur. — And a yummy rice wine Soju from Bekseju, USA. But wait! Where’s the tequila? Yeah, we only found one: Hornitos. Super strong but I couldn’t handle the taste. However I couldn’t resist doing a shot of tequila with my Unilocaler friends before taking another photobooth picture at Oh Snap Studios: For a large event that attracts a large population of foodies, it was surprisingly not as crowded as I expected it to be. Yes there were lots of attendees but every line that Jin Y. and I waited in had no more than 8 people waiting. That’s pretty good considering the scale of this event! Major thanks to LA West CM Brittany B. for hooking me up with two tickets for this event. I dedicate this, my 100th5-star review, to the Taste LA: Taco Tequila Tryst! What a fun way to spend a Saturday night: D
