The food here is soo good and fresh! We shared the avocado bread, crispy cauliflower, and beet something and something else. It was really good and we ate it all!!! For dessert to-go, we got the banana something, snicker-doodle thing, and peanut butter and jelly cookie. The latter two were really good with the banana thing my favorite but the peanut butter and jelly cookie was REALLY salty that we could not finish! We may have gotten a bad batch or something but this is why they only get 4 starts. I will be back again but will NEVER pay or be force feed a cookie from here!!!

Really fresh, farm-to-table food. I was here for a late Sunday lunch, and had a fantastic gravlox salad. My friend had the big juicy burger, and we shared the fries. The bakery items looked gorgeous and although they were enticing, I managed to resist temptation and pass them up. .. The ambience is a bit loud, and the wine prices a bit high, but the food made me happy.

Cool space, very nice and well designed outer patio. Delicious bites and drinks. Casual/hipstery vibe. Limited private parking and nearby parking can be hard. One star off for the swinging moods of the waiters/waitresses that are just impossible to forecast beforehand! I’m there on many occasions and times of the day, so service is highly dependent on the personality of the individual workers during the shifts. In general they tend to be cool, but don’t expect more. Last night was there to meet a friend I haven’t seen in months and it was my treat to him, the waiter was just unnecessarily tough and plain rude, and the place wasn’t packed and staff weren’t overwhelmed either. No greetings, no smiles, no checking on us, just handling the menus, «what do you want guys?» kinda questions, placing the orders without saying what they are so I call him to inquire, bla bla bla!!! It’s just so stupid of him, uncalled for and no excuses for such behavior. Again, I always say, there’s ABSOLUTELY nothing worse EVER in the business world or pathetic in the whole world than pathetic customer service representatives or poor customer service.

That one place where you feel more healthier after eating here. I came here with some co-workers for lunch one weekday. Inside was very nice but difficult to find seating so we ended up sitting outside on the patio which was actually in a way better. Our waitress was very kind and helpful when we had questions about some of the items on the menu. I was in the mood for a light lunch but I wasn’t feeling the need to eat a salad so our waitress had suggested the grain bowl which I ended up getting with avocado and a latte to drink. The bowl was very light but also fresh with flavor. I suggest if getting the grain bowl, you should be open to getting it with avocado because I’m not sure if I would have enjoyed as much without it! The latte on the other hand wasn’t that great and probably could have done without. Overall the open concept environment is perfect for getting some lunch with co-workers or friends.

Arrived straight from the airport with a glaze of undetermined hunger or in need of fresh air. Well stumbled upon this vast open aired bakery /restaurant and enjoyed the last piece of Veggie Quiche, a glass of crisp Rosé and Bombé donuts during off hour of 4pm. My pup and I were the only ones enjoying the outdoor patio {besides manager and staff getting some new uploading as I surmise} and we couldn’t be any happier for a pit stop before walking down to the Venice Canals/Piers for the sundown. The counter/server guys was super nice and smiley and did forget to bring the Bombé but really was sweet to give the last of quiche on the house. So it didn’t feel like a last rejected slice of the day? Anyways, it was a perfect touch! Will have to come back for brunch on the next visit!

Oh Superba you broke my heart. You were my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood and I defended the $ 8 bread, brought the adorable desserts as hostess gifts, and ate a meal there weekly. Today I brought my sister to experience your deliciousness. We arrived at 5:45 pm and the place was half empty. The hostess said we could sit outside(it was very cold out) or right in front of the door. She said all the other tables were reserved and said“you really need to make a reservation”. We offered to get a drink and wait for a table but she said«it will be a long wait because the kitchen just opened.» There was not one tiny attempt to let us eat there! Not a bit! Because I love this place so much I tried to call the manager before posting this review. No luck getting through to her. Therefore I think either the staff is on a work-to-rule strike, they are about to close down, or they have gotten too snotty in their attitude and won’t serve middle aged women any more. I suppose I’ll find out in the EaterLA blog. Goodbye Superba. You broke my heart.

A delightful brunch bistro in Venice. The outdoor space is California cool and the food is a hearty mix of breakfast comforts, healthy salads, jaw unhinging sandwiches and too-beautiful-to-eat baked goods. I savored my Superba Fried Chicken Sandwich w/fries. It definitely hit the spot and I loved the acidity of the slaw, crispy chicken and soft bread. Kudos to the juicy-ness because so easily a thick slab of chicken can end up dry and stringy. Whenever I’m introduced to a new place, I always have to try the fried chicken sandwich. It’s my litmus test of sorts. Only downside is it’s a bit over-priced for what it is. $ 15 for my fried chicken sandwich. $ 13 for kale toast. $ 15 salads. However, I still enjoyed my experience and look forward to trying other items on the menu. My friend says the bakery area serves delectable baked goods and then gets cleared out and moonlights as a bar in the evening. I’ll have to come back to check it out!

I really love Superba. And I have to say that it was a love developed over time. I was uncertain at first, thinking that perhaps it was all style and no substance. Now after several visits, I’m really glad I kept going back. Our most recent visit was for New Years Eve, which given the holiday and the crazy prix fixe menus floating about, I was so pleased to see that they had a $ 35 menu. Too good to be true? Nope! Each time we go, I find something else that I love. A couple of favorites are the crispy cauliflower and the carbonara. We’ve been for both brunch and dinner, as a couple and with a group. Fab each time. And finally, it’s a great spot to pick up amazing pastries to take away for brunch or dessert.

Wow, the staff consists of hipsters. Bearded men. Do they sell food, or artisan firewood? Unclear how the system works… Do you pay at cashier 1 or 2? No wait, there’s a waiter. Hum. Loud music. Strange vibe. Cappuccino arrives, which tastes like espresso with foam. Pricey. Nah. Bye.

Very cute spot to hangout, hipster and well decorated. We got there at 10:30am Saturday morning after thanksgiving, we got the last parking spot which was sweet. Probably total of 10 spots and area to lock your bike. I tied my dog to the bike post outside and the hostess gave us a bucket of dog treats that we can choose what we liked. The food was decent but the price was $$$$ The Mocha was really yummy, cool art on the foam $ 6… The Smaller cappuccino my husband ordered was $ 4. Food wise: 1. avocado tartine– which was refreshing and had sprouts and chili oil on the top of toast. Tasted like guacamole on toast. 2. Baked eggs — perfectly poached eggs on top of burrata cheese, over cherry tomato and kale. 3. Croque Madame– pretty ordinary with a side salad 4. Pork shoulder with polenta and truffle oil — $ 26, and the meat was a bit tough, so not the best Bakery: 1. Guava cream cheese croissant — $ 5 — lots of guava jelly 2. Morning bun– very light and fluffy $ 4.50

Really tasty clean, fresh flavors. A solid 3.85 stars. I loved the décor and felt like i was in a creative work space’s eating area. Very conducive to creativity and perfect for the abbott kinney lover in you. We ate the fried chicken sandwich — WOW and the burrata with the muhummara. Our server was awesome. She knew it was my first time and said: Our avocado toast is good. But you get that at alot of places. The burrata with muhummara, try that. Its worth it. And the juicyness of the friend chicien was great. I wasn’t thrilled with the bun, but my partner loved it– so to each their own. For dessert, we were treated to some awesome stuff. We bought the kouign amman and the nutella pop tart and were told the buttersctoch pudding was outstanding. The kouign was indeed outstanding. and the pudding was really good too. but the much touted nutella pop tart and the eveything croissant was not at all. The everything croissant was why i had wanted to come here in the first place as we had tried it at taste of the nation LA. But the large version had no cream cheese and was very dry. The pop tart was too dense and dry and the banana/nutella combo got lost in the heaviness of the pastry. Most touching was that since our server knew it was our first time, they gave us two cookies(yummy) on the house. Will definitely be a part of the roster now as we enjoyed the ambience and the food. but especially that kouign amman!

Love this place for the following reasons. 1) Can walk here from my apartment 2) Dogs can come too if you dine on the patio 3) Nut Milk I love you. Why must you be an extra $ 2.50? Maybe I would’ve spent that in parking if I didn’t have to walk so I will let it go. Oh wait– Parking is Free! 4) Pastries WHOA you can taste the homemadeness* I will pay $ 3 for your cookie because there is magic inside. That banana pudding though… yummmmmmm Sometimes service can be on the slow side and all times prices can be on the high side, but I will continue to talk to you Superba F+B. You got me. *word make up for this review

Decided to come here for lunch and was blown away with the bakery! They have everything you want in a bakery! Plain French rolls, croissant, almond croissant, my favorite: sugar morning rolls, banana Nutella tart, fruit tart!!! We also met the GM: John, and he was absolutely amazing! Really loves the restaurant and really makes us want to come back! We’re definitely going to try the fried chicken sandwich next.

Dinner review– Let’s just say by the end of the meal we all understood why the overall rating is 3.5 stars. Service is SERIOUSLYOFF here. Why? — our server was friendly and pretty funny but sort of a diva. often times saw him standing around after chatting with all the OTHER servers instead of checking on tables. at one point EVERY server was standing around the espresso machin

Brunch is my favorite meal of the day and of the week… I rarely get to have it and when I do I have high hopes for the meal. Well superba has been on my bookmarks for quite sometime and finally trying it was worth the wait. Ambiance: Love it ! This place is so quaint it has a coffee bar, a bar and a dessert take out stand along with outdoor and indoor dining areas. The bakery can stand on its own and so can the coffee bar. The area is very airy and well designed and dog friendly. Service: Well they take your name down and you wait your turn– which works out well since no one needs to stress out about making it to brunch rezzies. But the the other great thing is that you can walk up to the bar or to the coffee stand and get you brunch on while waiting. The staffers friendly and our server was great, there were so many things I wanted to try and our server gave us some great recommendations. Food: Baked eggs in purgatory, and croque Madame, cocktails and coffee all were excellent . Parking: It’s Venice, carpool if you can. I’ll definitely be back either to dine in or to pick something up form the bakery and/or café… But next time I’ll have the pooch with me.

The bread here is really the star of the show! I opted for one of their daily specials — the fried chicken sandwich($ 14) — which our server hyped up and even went as far as to say that it was so good that it was going to be added to the regular menu. This was my third fried chicken meal in two days(no judgement please!) so I couldn’t help but to compare it to the other pieces I’d eaten. Superba’s chicken appeared to have a thick coating of fried skin but when I bit into it, the skin was surprisingly softer than it appeared, which worked well for the sandwich. The chicken looked like it was seasoned and not just breaded but it really didn’t have much flavor. Hoping that the coleslaw would help, I added some to the sandwich but it was fairly bland too. On a good note, however, the crunch of the slaw contrasted nicely with the soft, juicy chicken. In my opinion, the sandwich needed some type of sauce and the smoky, spicy, hot sauce didn’t work. Superba definitely lives up to the«bread» in its name. That was, without question, the best part of the sandwich. The roll was soft and chewy. You could tell that it was fresh. I could’ve eaten a basket of that! Others enjoyed the flatbread and the soft shell crab sandwich and everyone loved the bread in its various forms. Service was fine, the food came in a timely manner, and the outdoor dining area was perfect for lunch. Bread 5 stars Food 3 stars Service 3 stars Ambiance 4 stars
