This place is like a «fuck you» to the neighborhood. Yes, it seems like a «regular» diner. But it is in Silver Lake. We live two blocks from SJCS and I would love to be able to go there for brunch or breakfast. BUT-I am a vegan, and save the side of freezing bagel and ¼ avocado there are really NOVEGANOPTIONS. Now, this would seem like a whiny review if it was 1985 and we were in Arizona, but for fuck’s sake, this is the 21st century and one would think there would be at least one vegan option on the brunch menu. You may not care about this, but if you don’t, get out of Silver Lake. Yes, there is an entire vegan restaurant, Flore, that has delicious vegan food just a block away… but what if I have friends in that want a variety? It seems like the owners of Sunset Junction Coffee Shop just HATE, what they perceive to be, Silver Lake folk.

Had the steak and eggs, steak cooked perfectly rare! Just the way I like it! Nummy spot not overly pretentious, décor is nicely done!

Fresh roasted turkey sandwich is just so good… hearty and toasty! The homemade tater tots are stellar too; and the staff so nice :) and open for dinner now too??? This neighborhood really needed this kind of casual, fresh feeling accessible restaurant. I love it here :)

Went with my daughter and had the corner beef hash, eggs, eggs Benedict with spinach, oatmeal for my grandson, coffee, water, milk. Everything was hot and delicious. Service was great and friendly. Great place to hang out and talk. We’ll be back!

Stumbled upon this cute diner when Intelligentsia was too hip and crowded to handle. Well cooked food & really nice people! Parking is a bit difficult as we had to park far into the residential area. Parking closer offered only limited timed street spaces which was a bummer. Though the food was good, the menu wasnt unique, to be honest. I’d go back if I was ever in the area but the parking situation sucks. Perhaps it mainly serves the locals who could easily make the walk over. But check this place out if youre in the area, its a solid breakfast to start your day!

Food 50/50, Service terrible, solid 2.5 stars but that wasn’t a rating option. Went for Saturday brunch greeted by a waiter who barked at us to write our names on the list if we want to sit inside. It was the one cold day in LA so we decided to do the 20 minute wait vs taking an immediate table on the street. We eventually got help from the actual host, who got us checked in gave us coffee while we waited and was really the saving grace of this place. Food: Apple Pop Tart — Awesome Chipotle Benedict– Awesome Tater Tots — cooked perfectly Corned beef Hash — Average, good flavor, but it was more hash browns with the occasional bite of corned beef, not a corned beef hash. if it cost more then the $ 6 we paid I’d be disappointed. Burger + Fries — RUNFARFARAWAY. Asked for it Medium, It was cooked like a brick, I’d hate to see what they do to a well done burger. Fries are shoestring fries, unseasoned, cooked on the soggy side sat there untouched. Coffee– standard diner coffee, nothing special but good. Service: SUCKED!!! Waitress was busy i’ll give her that, but she mastered that walk bye without looking at you trick so that we could never catch her attention. The only reason we got our coffee refilled was because the host saw us trying to wave someone down and came over to help us himself. Food came out slow we where hardly checked on. Our table was cleared the second our food was digested making sure we knew we should get out now. Host was the only person who smiled said thank you had a general nice attitude and seemed to be happy we were there otherwise this place would be more of a 1 star place. Prices: A little above average, our meal cost about $ 50 was probably about $ 10 – 15 more then it should be. Entrées where $ 12 – 15, should be more $ 8 – 10. Portions weren’t that big nothing on your plate was too special. They are getting away with riding on the coat tails of other restaurants in the area that can justify their higher prices.

The smallest breakfast burrito I have ever had! They used normal burrito sized tortillas so eggs were dwarfed but the layers of folded dough. For 14 bucks it felt like a slap in the face to scrimp so shamelessly on eggs that were mediocre. Service was good but will not go here again. All I have to say:

Type of place where everybody knows your name. Even though it is in the heart of hipster town Silverlake, this place is respectable throwback coffee shop. Strong coffee, good OJ, and a proper meal. It is the kind of place for people that aren’t into the frou-frou artisan coffee scene which if that’s your thing, Intellgentsia is right next door. I like the steak and eggs with some really great tater tots. It still doesn’t beat the steak and eggs special at Ellis Island Casino in Vegas though. Though the OJ is fresh squeezed, the price doesn’t merit the tiny size. Other than that, I can see why the regulars keep coming back here. Nice, down to earth people just trying to get your day started right.

I have been meaning to check this place out since it’s close to my job. Went today(Friday morning) around 9 am and their wasn’t that many people there. We were told to sit anywhere we would like, it took our waiter like 10 mins to ask us for our drinks(mind you theirs only like no more than 10 people there) and another ten minutes to ask for our food. I was a bit disappointed with their customer service. I got the egg and bacon croissant sandwich with a Side of hash browns which was good but that’s it. My friend got the salmon egg Benedict which I must say was really good and the salmon tasted fresh. I am glad I checked it out but i dont know if I would want to go back.

Wonderful place we happened to walk past and stopped for lunch. Seated immediately, fast service and good food. I had the turkey and avocado sandwich and it was good. Restroom was clean and nice. Will try again if I’m in the area. Lots to try on the menu.

I dig this place! Breakfast/brunch is my favorite meal. So anytime I can get it done properly, anytime of the day,…well count me in! And I’d pay the price of a new born baby to boot. — The service is always good(I’ve been here 3 times to date). And no matter how many guests are in, they’re very attentive and check in on ya regularly. Never had to flag anyone for water, peek in the kitchen for my food or beg for a check. — The food is solid as hell! I mean, if you’re gonna pay L.A. prices for a meal, spend it here. Nothing mediocre about the food. I’ve tasted the Steak & Frites, biscuits and gravy, a sandwich of some sort(don’t remember the name of it), eggs bennie and a churro sundae. — Can I talk about that damned SUNDAE!!! PartaY in my mouth! — And can I talk about those damned biscuits and GRAVY!!! Draw me a gravy bath so I can soak please! So. Friggin. Good. — and then there was the cappuccino! Hey, don’t sleep. Not everyone does a great cappuccino. Best I’ve had since the early days of La Colombe in Philadelphia Anyway. Check them out. It’s definitely worth the go and the dough.

I’m not sure if I came on a bad day… but I didn’t have a pleasant experience here. First of all, there was no A/C on a hot(literally it was 85 degrees outside and it felt 10 degrees hotter in the restaurant) Saturday afternoon. OK fine… but at least acknowledge that the A/C is broken… And if you don’t even have an A/C then you should at least open the doors or buy a fan to get some air circulation in your restaurant. We had asked if we could prop the door open to get some fresh air but the employees said that it would let in too many flies… which is understandable but someone could at least run out to grab a fan or two so that your customers aren’t sitting there so uncomfortable during their meal? We were all literally dripping sweat during our whole meal… fanning ourselves with the menus and using the condensation from our ice water cups to try to cool ourselves down. My boyfriend cracked a joke about ordering some A/C with his meal and the waitress just gave him a salty look and didn’t even try to crack a smile or apologize for the fact that it was hot as hell in the restaurant. I wonder how hot the chefs were in the back… probably dripping sweat too which is not something I really want to think about when I’m about to eat the food they’re preparing. Food was very meh… definitely wasn’t worth the $ 20 spent and DEFINITELY not worth sitting there breathing in the stale, humid air for 2 hours. Not only was it unbearably hot inside, we waited about 20 minutes before the waitress came to take our order… and another 35 – 40 minutes before we actually got our food. The only thing that MIGHT be worth ordering here are their tater tots… which were nice and crispy… but that’s if you have 2 hours to spare and you’re willing to endure sitting in a sauna.

The name tricked me into thinking it was actually a coffee shop/café type thing. But it was really just a restaurant. In short, it has a nice vibe, contemporary and spacious, and very friendly staff. The drawbacks, however, are the painfully slow service and pricy food. I ordered one of their most popular dishes, the Salmon Benedict. It was okay, english muffin was a little soggy and chewy, but otherwise, the eggs were poached nicely. The tater tots didn’t taste fresh, were really soggy and fell apart when I speared them with a fork. The servers were all really friendly and nice, but not so attentive. It was a long time before they came back after seating us to take our order, getting the check, and picking up the check. Definitely not worth $ 18 for breakfast and coffee, which is probably the most I’ve ever spent.

Came here after 4th of July, the huevos rancheros is my go to for hangover food here. My friend from Canada thought the coffee was actually legit here after testing what he referred to as «American coffee» so there is a plus. We split a blueberry homemade poptart which was soo good. Keep up the yummy food.

Imagine a very very very Hipster Dennys! Food is good, not great. Coffee was good, not great. Service was stellar. Location and vibe was awesome as well, primarily with a new age feel to an old school(diner) concept. Overall, solid experience and might be back!

Very friendly — wish the food had been better. One meal came out in three different parts… the other was very undercooked. The picture you see is a medium burger. It was defenitely not medium. Also, has a nat problem. They were flying all around. Nice staff though.

I’ve been here a few times now and little did I know, this place is a gem. I love the friendly service, the old school dinner feel and aesthetic, but also the price point of the food. Maybe hipsters aren’t rich, but they sure do know what they value. Since I’m on a ketogenic diet, I had to eliminate all processed carb and sugar. So my choices were limited. Here at Sunset junction, I was able to get a big salads and top it off with burger patties to get my protein cravings. Both of which were deliciously coalesced. My breakfast experience here was quite similar. All and all, I really enjoy being here, dining here, and help keep this place running well.

This is my favorite spot for breakfast in the Hollywood-Los Feliz-Silverlake region. Everything about Sunset Junction seems quality– the interior and furnishings are bright and clean, food is delicious and attractive to look at and the service is spot-on. My fiancé and I have made it a Friday morning tradition to have breakfast at diners, when both of our jobs permit us to. It started out by us trying a bunch of new places, but in the end we ALWAYS want to come here. The omelets are huge and the ingredients are quality– the meats, the avocado. It’s all top notch. Have you seen their breakfast fruit cup sides? Most diners just give you some cantaloupe, honeydew and grapes. At Sunset Junction you will see actual blueberries and strawberries in the fruit cup ~*~VERYRARE~*~ And sometimes, I’m not in a breakfast mood so it’s convenient that lunch is served all day. Their salad and sandwich combo is a favorite, and again, all quality ingredients. The chopped kale salad has carrots, apples, grapes, and caramelized walnuts. YUM! My only issue is that the prices are definitely not diner-esque, so we can’t afford to come here every week. But you get what you pay for… great ingredients are worth a few extra bucks.

5 stars for crunchy tater tots! Went perfectly with my mayo and ketchup. The Spicy Chipotle Benedict was good but I probably could’ve had a little more spice in it. The egg was perfect and the yolk ran down the breakfast mound as expected when pierced with my hungry knife, slowly drenching the avocado, crispy bacon, and breakfast muffin… everything else it came in contact with. Seating is available inside or outside under the umbrellas right on Sunset Blvd. Our server was very nice. LA street parking available(lots that overcharge, streets that have multiple signs that seem to contradict each other but don’t they just want to trick you, or parking meters that seem to always be occupied). Make sure you read signs very carefully. I probably wouldn’t come back just because I’d want to try some thing different in the area, but I would use this as a backup brunch spot if there’s no where else.
