The most horrible experience ever!!!
So I contacted Nikki and she was very friendly. I told her that I needed hair and make-​up done for my parents wedding. She gladly accepted for the date I asked her to come.
I have always gone to the same stylist Maria. She has never failed me in any way. No matter if I ask her for a hair cut, extensions, eyelashes, make-​up, hair do’s she’ll do it even better than I expected it. But since I’ve moved to the city of Tujunga, I didn’t feel like making the drive to Mission Hills. And then driving back to Tujunga to pick up my husband and change, and then go back to Northridge for the wedding.
She asked to e-​mail pictures of myself so she can see my skin tone and my hair. In addition she asked me to e-​mail pictures of hair styles and make-​up that I liked so she could get an idea of what I wanted.
Well the day of, she arrived approximately six minutes late, which wasn’t too bad because I know it’s difficult to find my house. She arrived, she was very polite unpacked her things and started with a massage on my scalp and then on my arms and hands. It has like a mint smell which later that day caused rashes all over my arms and my neck.
She started with my hair. She showed me all of the products she used on my hair. She first straightened my hair. That was her very first mistake. Maria has always told me that when you are going to curl your hair to NEVER straighten it before, unless you do it a day before or your curls won’t stay. I wanted my hair up. The first half was suppose to be in a french braid which then led for the rest of my hair in a type of bun that would look like a flower. I even showed her a picture of it. She did nothing like that. All she did was a bump on the top of my hair and made curls in the back which where held by MANY bobby pins. And when she showed me her finished work, the bump was literally falling to the left side of my head. I asked her to fix it and after numerous tries sh practically left it the same. I didn’t want to insist anymore because I knew she couldn’t do it. Hairs were coming out of the hair do, and I asked her if she could do something to make it even she just added hair spray and practically left it the same. I knew I would have to fix it all at the end.
The make-​up was a worse disaster. I specifically showed her pictures of what I wanted done for my make-​up. In addition, just for clarification I told her that I wanted a smoky eye shadow. With the specific colors of gold and black. And what did she do? Like a gray/​black with white. In the past when I have gotten my make-​up done by Maria, I know there is an order as to how you do your make-​up. Well with my eyes, who knows what she was thinking. She first did my eye-​shadow, and the put the eyelashes on me and immediately curled them and added mascara on my eyelashes. It was a disaster. I had glue stuck on my bottom lash which she couldn’t take off I had to do it myself because every time she tried to take it off it hurt my eye. I had mascara and glue on my top lid on top of the eye shadow. Then she added the eyeliner and immediately told me to open them. I just opened it a little bit just because I didn’t want to smear anymore on my eye lid and she told me to open it the whole way. So I did, and I did smear eyeliner on top of everything else. i though she would fix the mess she made. And to cover it up, she just added black eye shadow. And she still had the … to ask me if I liked the end result of my make-​up? And top it all off, she added A LOT of black eye-​shadow to cover the mess she had made, that I had black eye shadow on my cheeks and apparently she wasn’t planning to take it off. I literally had to guide her through and tell her take the black off of my cheeks, to make it look like it was actually gold and black. instead she just added more and more to the point where I looked gray.
I had already paid her through Unilocal the $ 40. I was extremely irritated (I STILL AM), I didn’t want to make her feel bad so I just told her it was fine I paid her the rest ($ 45) for her efforts, I didn’t give her any tip (I don’t think she deserved it). As soon as she left I undid my hair and I improvised. I had to wash my face and do my make-​up on my own.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER AT ALL!!! At least not for hair do’s and make-​up I wasted so much money on something that I ended up doing on my own. She ruined the rest of my day, and in addition I had rashes all over by the end of the night.

Most of the times I have had my hair styled, the stylist was cold and impersonal and didn’t seem like they cared about my specific needs and requests. My experience with STRANDed was much different! Nikki asked me how much she was aloud to trim, and actually listened! I have lost count of the number of times I have gone to a place and said ‘only an inch’ or ‘no more that three inches’ and walked away with my hair much shorter than I wanted. With Nikki, she was very précis, and stuck with exactly what I asked for. She was also very careful with my scalp, and made sure at every step that she wasn’t hurting me.
She did my makeup and my hair; I was very pleased with both. She asked for my opinion, and gave me good advice when I asked for it. I would definitely recommend STRANDed to anyone!

Nikki is wonderful!!! I like my hair short, short, short. Unfortunately, most stylists have taken the Dorothy Hamil approach when they hear those directives… not a great experience. Nikki, however, is different. She heard short and gave me chic… it was all I could possibly ask for in a haircut! After years of settling for cuts I liked but didn’t love, I now feel that I can ask for my hair cut the way I want without some really traumatic consequences after the fact. Thanks Nikki!

Stranded is fantastic! Nikki was super professional, on time and very accommodating, and her work was perfect. You set up an appointment, and she comes to your house, bringing everything with her. She can do various hair styles, ranging from elaborate to a simple blowout. I knew I had options with her, and that she would be able to do them all. I was incredibly satisfied with the appointment, and definitely plan on doing it again! Such a great and convenient idea for a company.
