I found this truck on the grounds of Angel city brewery on a Saturday night. I had not eaten dinner, so my boyfriend and I got some tater tots to pair with our beers. We ordered the tator tots with steak and provolone cheese. They were amazing!!! They usually come with onions, but we asked for them to leave them off. The tots came out hot and fresh with perfectly melted cheese and cooked steak strips. They also have«sammiches» on their menu, but the tots hit the spot this time! It’s a smart move for the truck to be at angel city. The line was not that long. The cashier was nice and the food came out in a timely manner. I plan to go back to the brewery, so if the truck is there I’ll get to try some of the other items on menu.

THE best pierogies I’ve ever tasted in my life. I got 1 regular order and 1 loaded. Delicious! Had them for lunch a day ago and have thought of nothing else. Regular pierogies are served with generous amounts of butter, sour cream and grilled onions. Loaded adds cheddar cheese and bacon.

Came here because I was looking for some side food to pair with my beer. This truck was right in front of Angel City Brewery so I decided to grab some food from here. I ordered tater tots with old bay seasoning and sides of caramelized onion and mushroom. I was surprised that they have Old Bay seasoning. I’ve been to Maryland several times and they always have this nice old bay seasoning for their dish. I’ve never seen other restaurant in Cali offer this seasoning so I was pretty excited to try it here. However, I barely tasted much old bay seasoning here but since the tater tots were great, I was satisfied. The onion was nice grilled and added a sweetness to the tots. The woman who took my order was super friendly and kind. She was chatting with customers and giving them suggestions for their order Will def come back here when I crave for tater tots!

I’m from the land of black and gold, where everything is magically covered in fries, slaw, and hot sauce… and this is a tiny taste of culinary heaven. Caloric hell, but who is counting… When I have an insatiable craving for home, this truck is the only cure! #PAtoLA Sure, other reviews mention a short wait and high prices — but what else is new in LA? SCS is on par with what a similar sandwich would cost in Pittsburgh(*cough* Primanti Bros), so it’s pretty reasonable considering your meat is covered in sides — slaw, fries, eggs… what more could you want? Just add some Jenny Craig fries as a reminder to guilt yourself into the gym tomorrow…

My buddy and I were sipping beers at the brewery close by, and we spotted this food truck. My buddy had eating the food here before, so we decided to give it a try. He ordered the steel curtain, a sandwich of various deli meats, french fries, mayo, between two pieces of white bread. The sandwich was pretty good, and I ate half of it in spite of having eaten earlier in the evening. They have quite a bit of variation in their menu, and the next time I visit the brewery I’ll check out this truck’s other options. Stay tuned for updates.

meh this place is nothing to write home about. I got the sexy vegan, which is a small sandwich for $ 10, piled high but filled with rather flavorless things. Had to douse in hot sauce to taste anything. The sandwiches are also super hard to eat because the bread is so small but stuffed with so much stuff. Be prepared for massive spillage.

I don’t know how I haven’t run into this truck before. I just had their Steel Curtain sandwich and the pizzarogies… hands down, the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten lol. Hats off to Taylor’s truck, without question one of the best in the city.

So, this review is based on one visit, so it may have been a one-off mediocre experience. A) They were sold out of their corn fritters. Good for them, glad they were popular, but it wasn’t like it was 3pm, so surprising. B) I got the last pierogi order before they ran out. Lucky me, except that the menus says 4 pieces, and my order consisted of 3. And they were out of sour cream, which they didn’t mention until I noticed it wasn’t there — after I’d ordered and waited 15 minutes for my food. C) They super annoyingly tried to play off their not having something that was supposed to be on the item I ordered as an opportunity for me to find them again sometime and maybe have better luck. Thing is, the dumplings really were good — had they said, «hey, we’re down to our last 3, and we’re out of sour cream, sorry, do you still want them?» I would be MUCH more inclined to give them a second shot. IDK. They just seem kind of jerky. But the food is good. Kind of like Pittsburgh itself.

Utterly average food, TINY portions for what you pay. I was drinking beer at Angel City Brewery, and this truck was parked outside. I was starving, so I ordered like $ 25 worth of food. I figured I would share. I did share, but it would have been barely enough food for just me alone. Everything arrived in those little disposable red-and-white condiment trays. You know, the ones that most places use for you to get a few squirts of ketchup. That’s what Steel City uses for their FOOD. You can get more food at almost ANY sit-down restaurant in the vicinity. That’s really, really sad for a food truck.

Steel City Sandwich Truck brings the tastes of PA to LA. The over stuffed sandwich made famous in Pittsburgh has a new home out here on the West Coast. The sandwiches are huge! They are packed with delicious goodness. The Steel Curtain is a beast! it is loaded with FIVE meats(pastrami, salami, capicola, ham, & bacon), provolone cheese, fried egg, topped with hand cut fries, italian slaw, & tomato. All that goodness is sandwiched between two slices of beautiful Italian bread. The Steel Curtain is a whopping $ 13! But with the size of the sandwich, quality, and taste, it is well worth the money. The pierogies($ 5) were delicious as well. They are a family recipe handed down to Taylor(truck owner) from her grandmother. They are homemade pierogies topped with caramelized onions, bacon, extra cheddar cheese and sour cream. We also tried the Balls of Steel($ 4), which are meat and cheese potato balls, beer battered and deep fried to perfection and topped with a spicy ranch. They were golden brown and delicious, the spicy ranch added a fantastic tangy taste. They accept credit cards. The price might be a little steep, but for the quality and quantity of the food, it is well worth it. Go out and find this truck and enjoy! I had my taste of this truck while at Angel City brewing. While a sandwich did not sound appealing and not hungry for a full meal, I looked for something unique and satisfyingly food truck tasty. I found it in the Piggy Power Pellets with pulled pork and bbq sauce. And yes, have them toss that fried egg on top for good measure. Awesome little creation that hit the spot perfectly washed down with a session ipa. Would have them again, no doubt!

Worst and most expensive combination food truck in down town. It’s located at the Angel City Brewery. The guys are really nice people, but I’m sorry for them, the sandwich was like a totally cheap thing, cheap bread, bad looking, etc… for $ 12 that’s the price of most of the items, you can walk 1 minute from there an get a really cool burger with fries in Umami or a great hot dog with beer in Wurstküche. I don’t understrand the 5 stars reviews, really. $ 12 for that? That was a scam!

Pittsburgh themed food truck! In Pittsburgh they are known for their fries in their sandwiches, so that’s what they do, put them in their pastrami sandwiches, their Philly cheese steak sandwiches, etc. I got the piggy fries and it was served with pulled pork, cheese, BBQ sauce and a fried egg. It was awesome to say the least. They also got pierogies which are basically baked potato dumplings with cheese. Food trucks are always pricey which I hate, but if you from Pittsburgh I’ll give you 5 stars

While out working today we decided to hit the food trucks in our local area. After mulling over the options, we decided on the Steel City Truck as the lightest option there(all the other food was potentially going to place us all in a food coma). We should have read the reviews first. Ordered the transplant, it was served on two super thick pieces of white bread with minimal meat. The fries didn’t have much flavor, very little avocado also. I will say that the slaw wasn’t bad. My coworkers and I all agreed that the bread should probably be toasted and it was missing another component, perhaps the sauce that they serve on the side should permanently be on the sandwich? I just know that I’ve had better sandwiches for $ 12 bucks I gave them 3 stars because the young lady that took the order was super nice and the service was fast, the sandwich wasn’t terrible like some people have said

I had the pittsburgh cheesesteak and really enjoyed the sandwich. Liked the slaw on it, and the bread and meat — great portion, too, I thought. Left me stuffed! I probably would have preferred the fries on the side, but sometimes I do put my fries on my sandwich, so it’s not totally out of the ordinary. Best advice is to go when there’s no line because food trucks are never fast.

Being from PA, I was super excited to find out about the Steel City food truck. The menu made everything sound delicious and it was hard to choose but I decided to go with the 5 meat beast, The Steel Curtain. This was a great sandwich, and all the ingredients complimented each other perfectly. My wife got the Yinzer which was also good. We also tried the pierogies, balls of steel and power pellets. All very good. The girl working the truck was the owner. She was super rad and very excited about her business. She definitely represents PA to the fullest. I will be sure to search Steel City out in the future.

Steel City Sandwich Truck was at our workplace today, i’ve read all the bad reviews but wanted to try it because the food pictures looked interesting. the price they charged is too expensive for the portion you received. i’ve read the online menu prices and saw the prices on the truck menu and saw that they are the same, I ordered the Steel Curtain(no Cheese or Slaw) and my co-worker ordered a Pittsburgh Cheesesteak with mushroom. the person charged us $ 28.00, I asked for a receipt and he wrote one out for me(see picture) i asked him if the prices listed on the truck is correct and he said yes, i then asked him why he charged me $ 14 for the steel curtain when the listed price is $ 13, he then apologizes and refunded $ 1.00, and crossed out the total on the receipt he gave me he charged us $ 14 for the Pittsburgh cheesesteak my friend ordered, when i mentioned to him that the listed price is $ 12.00, he said that my co-worker asked for mushroom which he charged us $ 2.00 more for,(i later noticed that the menu price stated that mushroom is $ 1 extra NOT $ 2.00) Lesson: if you buy from this truck, you have to watch out for how much they charge you. my experience with them seems to be they WILL overcharge you if you are not paying attention. my order: i ordered the Steel Curtain Sandwich(Pastrami, Salami, Capicola, Ham, Bacon and a Fried Egg topped with fresh cut fries and tomato) it normally comes with cheese and slaw but i don’t like them True to most of the negative comment, it took about 20 minutes to get our order. when our order came, the guy said that he gave me extra meat portion to make up for his mistake, i checked and saw that there was 1 thin slice of each of the 5 meat.(where’s the extra portion he said«he added» for my trouble?) about 8 pcs of soggy fries+ sunny side up egg and 1 slice of tomato. the sandwich taste ok, but i feel that it was overpriced, for $ 13, i expected the portions to be bigger, i feel like the sandwich i received was only worth about $ 8.00 not $ 13.00 i guess they normally get away with the small meat portions since they usually have cheese and slaw to «bulk up» this sandwich. I feel like i was way OVERCHARGED for my sandwich, the server was polite(even as they overcharge you) the wait was too long, so my co-worker started eating his sandwich before i could take a picture of it, but he said the sandwich was good though they overcharged us by $ 1.00, the mushroom was only supposed to cost $ 1 more not the $ 2.00 they charged us for. they tried to cheat us by $ 2.00 but only got away with cheating us $ 1.00 since i called him on the price difference, they probably figure no one would make a scene about the price difference so who know how many other people they overcharged? my sandwich taste ok but Way too pricey for me. i would not come back to this truck nor recommend this truck to anyone i know and warn them to pay attention to what they pay. i like to get value for my money, if i pay for $ 13.00 for a sandwich, i expect to be full. and i wasn’t.i gave it 2 stars only because it didn’t taste horrible.
