Employees are great! And service is quick I can understand that my order can be taking long when you have a bunch of hungry lawyers cramming around but if you want to avoid that there is always a online order and a app you can use to order ahead of time and avoid delay on your order. They also have a peets coffee and the barista is awesome and very patient with my complicated order she even said«if I don’t like it, bring it back and I will offer something else» I ordered a double shot latte with vanilla syrup and it was so delicious so that gets a five star right away if your looking for good quality coffee Specialty’s peets coffee is the place!

This location is steps away from any office in Bunker Hill. Online ordering is easy and convenient. They accommodate additions/substitutions(mushrooms and tomato in my breakfast sandwich) without extra charge or attitude. Baked goods are yummy, though not cheap. Breakfast sammies served all day too! Lots to love at Specialties.

Tasty sandwiches with fresh ingredients. Lots of vegetables in sandwiches. Pastry is a bit expensive, but so tasty. If you like Peet’s coffee, that’s what they serve. Roomy area with free Wi-Fi. I come to enjoy food and environment. By the way, if you register online, points accumulates and will get decent credit after visiting 12 times.

Cute place nice décor and good location. Only tried the green tea matcha and it was a bit on the bland side. I will rarely say this but Starbucks is a bit better on this front. I’ll come by again if I’m in the area during the morning for pastries.

My drinks are always on point, unlike other places. Food is a hit or miss and by miss is they almost often run out of items including spinach for salad. ha-ha! Day old pastries are a bit cheaper but to me they still taste just as good as a fresh one. Service could be a bit faster specially when you only have 2 — 3 customers, what could take so long to get an oatmeal? aside from my minor complaint this place is great for a quick bite and good coffee.

I never really noticed the Specialty’s next to my work building… no clear sign or maybe I’m just blind… The ordering on the iPad is cool but then again I was there during a time that wasn’t too busy, might be crazy if there is a crowd. I ordered a BLT, creamy chicken wild rice soup, and an iced pomegranate berry tea. Let’s start with the good, the sandwich was so delicious and my order was ready pretty quickly, and plenty of seating available. Surprised it wasn’t busier around 1:00 for the lunch rush. The bad… they were out of the pomegranate berry tea and the soup was super watery and flavorless! I will probably try this place again but only sandwich and something safe like chips.

Great bakery with plenty of seating and awesome employees! I walked in just looking for an afternoon snack, but I can see why this is a popular lunch and catering spot. I ordered a Black Iced Tea and a Cinnamon Sugar Morning Bun. The tea was brewed just right, not too much ice. That Morning Bun is enough for the five star rating. Wow. Crispy on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside, covered in a sweet dusting of cinnamon sugar. I didn’t even have it warmed, and it was still amazing.

Quick service, a fine selection of sandwiches, soups and salads with vegan and vegtarian options! Order ahead online and simply pick up your bag without fuss. I love the ipad checkout options — it’s all self-serve. The curry Thai soup, Southwestern salad, and Vegan salads are incredible and you can substitue or remove up to 5 items. Salads are less than $ 12 for a large portion!

Specialtys is really good for coffee and sweets or for lunch. They have good sandwiches and you can customize it on their ipad ordering system or through the cashier(old school!) or order ahead and pickup. The sandwiches are large too, you can fill up on just a sandwich here, and they also have great bread choices. There’s a ton of seating indoor and outdoor so this is a also a nice place to meet friends that work downtown or go with a group of coworkers. Staff is friendly too, always a plus!

All I got here was the turkey sandwich to go, it was very good. Everyone was very nice. And it did not take very long to make it.

Oh Speciality’s how I missed you! I used to work in La Jolla in San Diego where the Specialty’s/Pete’s were PLENTIFUL. It was our office go to for lunch because it masqueraded as semi-healthy food(def not actually if you look at the calorie counts HAHA) and was a convenient one stop since you could get great coffee at the same time. I hadn’t really noticed any Specialty’s around LA, until I moved downtown and saw this one! The space is HUGE and pretty empty most of the time, so if anyone needs a spot to study, this one would probably be a good one, I saw lots of outlets on the walls. Unclear whether they have wifi though. The Pete’s corner is always quick and makes delicious, strong lattes, and the service counter is friendly. If you like sandwiches, salads, soups, baked goods and coffees, give it a try!

I’m crammed with work and starving, so I try out Specialty’s online service to order a roast beef sandwich for a quick fix. I customized it by removing pickles and adding turkey breast because I’m really hungry and need more meat. The sandwich came out to $ 9.48, which is fair for DTLA pricing and is competitive with Mendocino farms. When I got my sandwich, it looked like it was built for a kindergartner. I’ll have to admit that it brought me back to my childhood. They forgot to add my turkey and the sandwich looked really small with paper-thin roast beef. Maybe the pickles I omitted were very thick slices. It was more like a tomato sandwich garnished with meat. I wish I took a picture or returned the sandwich, but I was short on time. I actually think Arby’s «Market Fresh» sandwiches are better and more filling. The only thing keeping me from giving one star are the very friendly people there and their baked goods. I love their brownies and they are a bargain when they’re sitting in the«day old» section for half off.

The sandwiches are delicious but gives me major hearburn every time I eat here. Also, it takes so long to get my orders during lunch. Even without the lunch rush, I wait over 15 minutes for sandwiches — that seems a bit excessive for a «deli» type café.

I pretty much have not had one thing that was not gobbled down to the last bite. Items I have thoroughly enjoyed: Tomato Bisque Soup, Cream of Asparagus Soup, Spinach/Berry/Feta/Pecan Salad, Yogurt with Strawberries and Granola(and this is something I don’t normally eat), Fuji Apple/Cinnamon/Cream Cheese Danish, Cinnamon Roll. I haven’t tried the sandwiches yet, but I’ll wager they are just as great as everything else. Wash it all down with a Peets product(I dig their Hibiscus Tea Cooler). And when you’re done, most of what they serve their food in is Compostable. Eating area is pleasant and never over-crowded. What more can I say? Quick dining done as good as it gets. Address is on Hope, but you can also enter directly from Grand Ave.

I ordered a to-go order of chicken salad, BLT, chicken on the side &3 cookies. I had a special coupon code, my total order came up to about $ 35 bucks, with my coupon code I paid $ 5.61! The coupon slashed $ 30 bucks off my total, talk about a steal. The salad was tasty, good dressing & a soft piece of bread came with the salad. The ordering online was smooth. The cookies are huge. I’m full after eating the chicken salad & half of a cookie. Definitely will be back.

The office tried out this place for lunch today and we couldn’t stop raving about it. Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions are ridiculous They do deliver but the boss lady went and picked up … Super impressed the café is big and very clean with great outdoor seating. It’s locked in the lunch book. We shall return

I really like the big open space with plenty of seats to work/relax during coffee break. The egg sandwich was too buttery but the blueberry muffin was delicious.

The best things from Specialty’s are the pastries and cookies. The chocolate chip and cheese and fruit with cheese flat croissants are great for $ 3. Better bang for what you get compared to Starbucks or CBTL. The cookies here are dangerous. Eat two and you’ll have a meal for the day. Eat six in one weekend like I did years ago and you’ll gain five pounds. True story. Forget about the sandwiches. They’re decent but pricey for what they are. Service here is inconsistent. Sometimes they’re okay, sometimes they’re moody. Probably cause it’s 7 am. Trust me, I’m up at 5 am and smiling. It’s not that bad.

Nice addition to the Bunker Hill lunch scene. The baked goods counter is delicious. The cookies are delicious(and warm if you ask). The coffee cakes are incredible! Soup selection varies daily and there is a great assortment of sandwiches and salads. It’s open til 6pm which is great because eateries close so early around here. And they serve breakfast all day! Plus, the inside area is light and spacious; they also have indoor and outdoor patios. Nice spot to meet for coffee or a casual lunch. Sign-up for an online account… pre-order for pick-up and earn rewards credits. :)

edit: No Peet’s loose leaf blends available here; just their regular tea bags — think airport kiosk Peets. Also, they don’t accept Peet’s gift cards or coupons. It’s a Specialty’s serving Peet’s stuff — not part of Peet’s corporate. — — — - Specialty’s opened on Bunker Hill today. I first heard about this chain from people in the Bay Area who rave about their cookies. Located at the Mellon Bank building, this place replaced the small Starbucks and took over another suite space in the lobby. Open Monday to Friday 6am-6pm. First impressions were good — plenty of seating, good lighting and signs pointing out business catering and priority pick-up, which are good for reference in the future. It also seems like a place conducive for studying or doing work since it gets quiet after the lunch rush. The cookie racks were what caught my eye. Let’s see why the Bay Area loves these cookies! At $ 2.59 each, these tall cookies are a little steep(when Diddy Reese’s is 33 cents and flat) but these thick cookies ARE a delicious treat. I probably won’t eat them regularly, which will be good for the wallet. I’ll let you know about the sticky bun($ 2.79) when I eat that for breakfast tomorrow. Anthony the cashier informed me about the Day Old program where cookies are 50% off — they’re at the bottom of racks(e.g. $ 5.18 for 4). Sounds like a winner to me. You can also sign up for the Warm Cookie alerts, which will tell you when things come piping hot out of the oven but I’m not much of a cookie monster. Nice touch though. I like that you can order ahead online, order on iPads at the store, or stand in line and order traditionally. For the iPads, log in to your account or swipe your credit card to start and you won’t be charged until you place an order. Take as long as you want without a pair of human eyes in front of you waiting for your decision! I’ll most likely go back and try their sandwiches, or at least get a half dozen cookies at a discount. Also, there’s a Peet’s coffee in the same place. Now I can try some nice loose leaf teas(their Black Currant is great) instead of the same boring Starbucks swill across the street! Nice 2-in-1 addition to Bunker Hill.
