Not bad for cafeteria food. I’ve definitely have had worse cafeteria food(the best is still UCLA’s food though). They usually have a special each day so you can get some variety on their menu. Good for law students that don’t feel like venturing out in k-town for some food. Plenty of seating with a pretty good view of Los Angeles and a good spot to blow off steam with other stressed out students. I usually get the turkey burger(with avocados) or the tuna salad wrap. Pleasantly impressed, I’ll be going here for the foreseeable future.

The chocolate chip. cookie and Tuna sandwich here are AMAZING! Might be one of the better tuna sandwiches in the city.

Ordinary school cafeteria with extraordinary daily specials. Ok, I’m definitely not saying this place serves 5 star restaurant quality food. The menu has the regular burgers, pizzas, quesadillas, wraps, etc… But anyone who gets the daily Tea Room Specials e-mails can see that their specials are anything but ordinary. For example, here is the specials menu from Oct 16, 2013: Chef: Mongolian Glazed Chicken with Vegetable Rice Salad: Curried Chicken with Apples and Grapes over Baby Mixed Green Soup: Potato Leek with Chives Sandwich: Beef Panini with Provolone on Pan Rustica with Fries Pizza: Hawaiian with Ham, Jalapeño, and Pineapple Mongolian Chicken? Pan Rustica with bread? WUT? They also tried to make a regular Hawaiian Pizza special by adding in jalapeño. The chef definitely tries to make the specials live up to their«Specials» title. Kudos to you, Chef. I’m giving this place a 4 because of it’s very mediocre normal menu. I try to get something different whenever I come here, but I really end up just getting one of two things: the Chicken Caesar Wrap or Breakfast Burrito(Served only until 11). They are really good! Here is what you should NOT get though: the greek salad. This was literally the worst greek salad I’ve ever had. I had one bite and I threw it away. The dressing is awful. And for the price I paid for that damn salad, I should’ve at least gotten some meat with it. I think it’s a hit or miss with this place. But, since I go here, it’s just convenient. I always have space to study too. :)

A-OK. That about explains it. Everything is decent, if not good, although most of the food is pretty bland. It’s kind of like surviving on Tofu. You’ll be satisfied, but never quite happy. That being said, I’ve grown to like the burger and the grilled cheese — why I still pay $ 6 for each is questionable, however… Overall, like Max said, no reason to really go here unless you go to school at SW — in fact, you probably won’t get by security if you just want to grub at the Tea Room, to their dismay.

FOOD: decent. While they DO have standard cafeteria food, they have many more options as well. Also, the fountain soda machine is sooo limited AND spits out warm soda. PRICING: AWFUL pricing considering it is primarily supposed to be for students who are on financial aid for the most part. Awhile back, the students wanted more eco-friendly options for utensils and to-go boxes, etc. Well, thank you tree huggers, now I get to pay $ 1 more for my chicken wrap. SERVICE: You’ll be better off if you remember high school Spanish. Also, I get the feeling they just make up(on the spot) the prices for add-ons like cheese and avocado. Granted i am probably cynical for having eaten there for 3 – 4 years

Why does this have a Unilocal page? The food is good but expensive. Why do I pay $ 9 for a chicken wrap, fries, and a drink?

Max P. claims that there’s no reason to eat here unless you go to school or work at Southwestern? Not true. Maybe you want to hang out with your law school buddies who you never see anymore now that they’re in law school? Your only chance might be to ambush them at the Southwestern Law School Tea Room. Or at a bar. The other reason you might want to come here is for the view: it’s on the fifth floor of the beautifully restored Bullocks Wilshire Building. The food is fairly standard café/cafeteria fare, although the breakfast burritos are especially great. Oh, and don’t let the name«Tea Room» mislead you: it’s not at all as cruisy as it was back when it was a department store. Or at least so I’ve been told. ;-)

There is no reason to eat here unless you go to school or work at Southwestern. That said, if you do, you could do a lot worse for on-site school eateries. The food is solid if not spectacular, but the portions are good and the prices are right. For breakfast, the egg white omelette special is fantastic – a great, healthy omelette with side of fruit and an OJ, all for $ 5. Can’t beat it; this basically made it moot for me to try to make breakfast at home. For lunch or dinner, the california turkey burger is great. Filling and healthy, comes with salad, and not pricey at all. Get it with the bacon + avocado and ask for the special wheat bun if they have it. Plus, the people that work there are all very friendly and the setting is cool – an old-school art deco tea room with views of the hills. You can also take your food to the patios on the fourth floor and eat outside on nice days.
