Giving this 3 stars. The food is overall satisfying, nothing that makes you go «wow» but if you work in DTLA like myself, you quickly run out of choices and will in fact visit the same restaurants regardless of one day of bad service. Service can be good or can be decent; the main problem is very limited staff as such you will witness delays and poor service at times. In regards to the food, it’s decent I prefer to eat the tom yum noodles. You can always«try» it by upgrading your soup on any lunch special to tom yum vs commuting to it as your main dish. This restaurant if you didn’t know, has a boba spot in the back(this as well is «ok») but if you decide to try it, get the orchata boba. On the very good side of things; I met Oscar De La Hoya here. He was having lunch.

My co workers and I always come here during our lunch break. We have never had a horrible experience. We are promptly seated. Our food comes out fast. Just perfect.

During my last day at work at my last job, my coworkers and I decided to order delivery from SOI7 via Eat24. I generally enjoy Thai food, so I was not opposed to ordering from here, but some of the reviews made me concerned. I ordered the pad siew — rice noodles stir fried in soy sauce with Chinese broccoli and shrimp. It was quite good! I was pleasantly surprised, especially since I spent about $ 13 on it. Overall, I liked the food I ordered, but the delivery service could be improved. I am also interested in dining in the restaurant and comparing experiences.

SOI7 didn’t disappoint, but it didn’t standout much either. Service was quick, but the place only had about 10 patrons on Tuesday night at 8:30. I’d go back if i was craving Thai when in DTLA.

Pad Thai was too sweet. Tom yum was too strong. One star for spicy source. Not recommended

This place looks nice — high ceilings, clean organized trendy look. Its close to Bottega Louis which is well known. And it has some good reviews. So we decided to give it a try. The wines for happy hour at $ 6.50 were a great bargain and tasted quite good. The satay at $ 7.50 was tasty but 4 extremely small tiny pieces of beef — much smaller than normal. The Tom Kum spicy soup was pretty bad. The curry chicken was not curry at all. It seemed to be a bland coconut soup. The pineapple fried rice was reasonably tasty, but very expensive and fairly small quantities. The wait staff were nice but essentially invisible and doing the minimum. The bill was about $ 85 for three happy hour drinks, a soda, satay appetizer, large soup, salad, pineapple fried rice, and curry chicken.(Plus tip went closer to $ 100). Would not come back again.

Pleasantly surprised by the taste and the service of this restaurant. The green papaya salad, beef salad and drunken noodle were all tasty. However, the taste was slightly different from Thai restaurants in the US: lighter and less sweeter sauce for drunken noodle.

Ordered delivery. Arrived on time. We eat a lot of thai, we are bug fans. Love the robust thai flavors and the contradictions we normally find in each dish — spicy/sweet. Tangy/hot. We were expecting soup to have more flavor. And the thai beed salad is normally spicy and fresh, here the dish had a sauce that were honestly kind of weirded out by. We try new foods often, but we did not like this spin on a classic favorite. The soup came with shrimp, which were big and a decent amount — 5 or 6? But the broth was just like a very plain vegetable broth. Honestly very disappointing. The mango sticky rice was great! They got the cream down and mangos were perfectly ripe. Their rice is fried/crispy and it was done well. Sadly the dessert and beverages was all we had. The spicy beef salad and the soup was not appetizing enough to even try. Paid 60 for delivery, tip & food. Will never order again and Would Not recommend.

Despite the nice ambiance of this place the food was very disappointing The pork fried rice was shockingly bad it was essentially clumpy overly moist and stuck together old rice with a little soy sauce and some — fried to a crisp — I say burnt pork chunks which were totally dry and crunchy. Add a couple piece of tomato and cucumber and they call it fried rice I also ordered mint chicken which came completely room temperature not cold from a fridge nor even a hint of warmth I’m not sure how they pulled that off, it must’ve been sitting out for awhile the vegetables were soft and lifeless I sent it back and the second time around I got a fairly good dish that was hot and fresh with crisp vegetables I wouldn’t go back and eat here for half of what they charged

This place should have a line out the door for lunch. Very good. BUT… I’m not local. LA people are probably use to 5 stars at every lunch place. Sauces were correct(lemon grass to the tofu pad Thai an excellent touch) Anyhow recommended for a business lunch or date(you can talk)!!! Their«tea menu» is spectacular. If you like tea this is your place.

Been to this place a few times and i just must say this olace is ok. The place is fairly large and has grest music playing in the background. Good for happy hour corporate events or a place to have a sit down with. I’ve had the chicken curry and pad thai and the chickeb curry is amazing. If it was just a bit spicier I would have fell in love with it. The staff is pretty friendly. The first two times i came here the waiters were very attentive but recenttly since i ccane aroubd kunch the servers were pretty slow at getting things started. Couldnt rate it higher as i take the food and whoke experience as a whole.

Thai food here is pretty mediocre. I’ve been here many times — a couple times on my own and several times with coworkers for lunch. The chicken within the curry always seems to be overcooked and their curries do not have the same type of punch and flavor you normally would expect in thai dishes. Prices here are also pretty expensive. Definitely not worth what they charge.

My sister and I went christmas eve, sadly boba7 the main reason I went was closed. So instead we got eggrolls, two soups, and margaret’s hope tea. At least they had a lovely tea selection. The food was good, the service was fine(and likely would have been better on not christmas eve). A bit pricey, but reasonable for the area. I would go again, but I would first confirm boba7 was open.

If you’d like to be disappointed with your decision on where to dine, then go to Soi 7. First off, the prices are RIDICULOUS. Please tell me why it costs almost $ 80 for 4 people to dine at a mediocre(at BEST) Thai restaurant. And mind you, that $ 80 is NOT including any drinks or appetizers. Second, the service is HORRENDOUS. The waiters constantly give you attitude and roll their eyes when you ask a question about the menu or ask for something. In addition, don’t even expect for your water or whatever you are drinking to be refilled, it just won’t happen; and if you ask, expect for it to take at least 10 minutes before you can expect to drink anything again alongside with a full serving of eye rolls. So if you’d like to be treated like crap, then go ahead dine at Soi 7. And now, the food. The food is not consistent. I’ve dined here multiple times(mainly because it was so close to home) and have never been satisfied. The food is always missing something, and will never come out the way you ordered it or expected it to be. I gave Soi 7 so many chances, and have finally decided to give up. It is not worth it.

Kudos to having a great until-7pm happy hour that includes Saturdays, but otherwise the service was frustratingly slow and almost non existent sitting at the bar. The restaurant was virtually empty the whole time I was there Saturday evening and yet we would have to ask our bar server multiple times for requests like the check. Tried the calamari, which was a huge portion and well priced during happy hour, and the very dry veggie rolls. Can’t complain too much given the prices and variety of the happy hour food and the cheap beer and wine. They had a 3-sake flight for $ 8.50 during happy hour which knocks it up a star for me.

Been meaning to write a review for this location after having lunch with my mentor here. First, the location is close to major business buildings and is ideal to eat a quick lunch before heading back to work. I arrived early and was seated right next to the window. However, that day the restaurant had a lot of flies buzzing around the sit-down area and it got real gross real quick. I ordered my favorite– Pad thai and my mentor ordered a simple sweet chicken with jasmine rice and a side salad with peanut sauce. Since I am a pescatarion I opted for some more veggies in replacement of the protein. The Pad Thai was incredibly bland. I understand we were the first lunch order that day, but I wasn’t impressed. I am only giving it three stars, for the nice waitstaff, my water being filled regularly;because I doused my Pad Thai with all the spices they offered to me, and the location. I think you can find better Thai, or maybe dinner time would be a better experience.

One crazy busy night I ordered food from here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, quick delivery and service. While the ingredients were fresh the prices for standard Thai staples seemed high. I ordered 2 entrees and an appetizer and the meal came to $ 50. While I loved the food I’m just not sure the value is there

Come on, really? Pad Thai was bone dry. Flavors were weak and had a bitter coating. Service was non-existent. The only good thing was that the food came out fast. I will not be back, even if I’m famished and the wait for Bottega Louie is ridiculous. My mistake.

Uhm… Did I just miss something here? How is this place still in business??? NO…seriously. I’ve personally viewed other BETTER establishments open and close within the blink of an eye yet this implausibly priced restaurant, alleging their specialty to be «Ay-jun Fusion» has clearly got the game twisted. What they offer is more like — — - — «Con-FUSION». Having previously resided within DTLA and soon to return to the vicinity, just a day or so ago I found myself back Downtown in search of new additions to the area. I’m certain that we’ve all viewed the boom of business within DTLA and while Soi 7 by no means qualifies as a «neighborhood rookie», I honestly can’t state that I see how they’ve managed to outlive their better suited competition. Talk about hanging on by an «angel wing» and a prayer. Chills radiated down my spine while I bypassed this place as I was compelled to reminisce on my previous times spent here and…(sighs while exhaling…)…how very much of my damned paycheck they’d managed to manipulate me out of within the past — when I simply didn’t know any better. Located on 7th, adjacent the severely over-hyped Bottega Louie, within the undeniable core portion of DTLA sits this overpriced establishment that has obviously been coasting by through their continued fabrications in providing a romantic experience and serving«quality» Thai cuisine. Talk about disingenous. While I tend to stick to what I know, ordering Pad Thai, Som Tom or Tom Kha Gai(—spelling) with a simple glass of Plum wine, prices here have been known to compete with a car note and FORWHAT??? A bowl of noodles and some damn sticky rice?! Get the phuk outa’ here!!! There is NO reason in life for anyone to trek over to this joint and depart feeling violated. While customer service is «Meh», prices at Soi 7 can result in one’s need to locate a life coach and I honestly do NOT get it!!! On a Saturday night at 9pm I cruised by on my way to… I dunno’…some place better and noticed a serene candlelit ambiance conjured from within… yet…there was –no one– present to enjoy it aside of the chirping crickets. I consider this to be absolute«Xahar»(Thai for«food») for thought —— Perhaps once they close shop, another Starbux will occupy the premise. I could use a frappacino anyway. Until then, for those in search of an «authentic» Thai experience, might I suggest you avoid the cost of valét here and consider taking your forage for food to Sunset for«Jitlada» or traverse on down Olympic to pay«Natalie’s» a visit? Soi 7 as I see it, is a meager step up from 7 – 11. Wait a second. Perhaps they’re actually a step DOWN. At least at 7 – 11 you can get a slurpie with your spring rolls.

Empty Nester Not sure how they keep their doors open. Take a browse through all the photos. Go ahead, I’ll wait… Did you look yet? Liar. Seriously though, go look at the photos. Are you back now? Okay. Out of all the photos that Unilocalers took for the restaurant interior, did you see ANY with customers in them? I’ve walked by plenty of times and they are lucky to have more than one table. Just tonight I walked by Saturday night at 8pm, one lonely table in the far corner. It was a lady eating by herself. Pretty much the saddest thing I’ve seen since Mufasa died in the Lion King. Seriously though, I balled my eyes out, not as bad as when Nemo’s mom died but almost. Overpriced and Dry With so many selection of great Thai food in LA, if you’re going to price your food higher than normal, It better be freakin delicious. Like Oyster Truffle Pad Thai, dosed with hint of baby seal’s blood, on a bed of caviar with a side of froie gras. Lastly, instead of a Thai Elvis I want to see a Thai lady-boy Michael Jackson performing in stilettos with live goldfish in them.

Craving Thai food but didn’t want to drive all the way to Thai Town. Decided to walk over to Soi 7. They are sister restaurants with Grand Central Market’s Sticky Rice, FYI. And I LOVED the food from there so wanted to try here. Ordered the Seafood Drunken Noodle. We got it medium spicy which was just the right amount of spice. The noodles were very fresh and al dente chewy, and the dish was packed with shrimp, scallops, baby octopus and fresh green beans and bell peppers. The only thing missing was the high heat wok flavor that you get from a Thai Town dish, but otherwise this version was very cleanly and deliciously executed. Also ordered the Red Curry with Chicken, and they definitely did not skimp on the chicken or the bamboo shoots. The curry itself was very clean, however, it also tasted like I made it myself at home. Which is either a really good thing for me, or just eh for the restaurant because I’m not that amazing of a cook. I wish it had a little bit more umph so to say. But overall, the dish was very enjoyable and in a pinch I would come here for decent Thai food again.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many Thai spots in downtown. This place is okay but way too expensive which is basically the motto of every restaurant in downtown. I ordered shrimp fried rice which was around $ 17 bucks but there was only 4 small shrimp in there. The portions are small and the amount of protein they give you is small. If you want the most bang for your buck I would try to get a lunch special.
