Got the assorted soondooboo and spicy pork bulgogi combo and it was tasty, a little too salty, but had more than enough to eat between 2 people. The side dishes were quite traditional, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. All in all a pretty average Korean tofu house. But personally I prefer BCD.

My friend wanted to get tofu soup last week, so she took me to Little Tokyo and we ordered from SKD Tofu House. Typically I order tofu with clam, but their option was with clam and shrimp only – so I ordered that. We left to shop at Daiso and when we returned, our orders were still not ready. We asked for our orders separately, so we were able to get our own banchans – the side dishes were good, the cucumber being our favorite, and this seemingly watered-down-kimchi-with-daikon banchan was a cooling snack in the hot weather. I was a bit disappointed by the amount of seafood in my tofu soup, three tiny shrimps and four pieces of clam in the entire thing? I go to other tofu shops and have tons of clam in my food. That would be my only complaint. Overall the experience was okay, being so close to work we would probably just order ahead of time next time to skip the wait. The amount of food was decent(lots of tofu) and ended up being two meals for both of us.

I had the tofu stew and galbi combo and an order of steamed dumplings. Overall, a good spot for Korean tofu stew and food. I opted for the mixed tofu stew, medium spicy. The tofu came in a small caldron boiling hot, with clams, beef, a shrimp. It was very good and was on par with other good Korean tofu restaurants. The galbi(Korean BBQ ribs) is the usual L.A. galbi style. Tasty, kind of sweet. The dumplings were filled to the seams with meat the veggies and tasted good too.

I used to go the SKD in K-town near Olympic and Vermont. That location is closed. I am so sad. I went there for so many years. This SKD is not the one is my memory. They used to have raw crab. Now it is gone… The good thing is they have beef intestine again. However, the taste is not the same.

Came in once with my korean coworker, the place is clean and food is great. The lady can come off a bit rude but everythings good. I also ordered for take out twice and today, the guy that took my order was super friendly! Food is great and all i thought that was missing was the service, so super happy about the friendly server!

a little over priced when you literally get more at BCD — sorry totally forgot to take pic of the tofu — sorry

I’ll start this review by saying that I normally HATE tofu. Can’t stand it. Never have, possibly never will — BUT, I am willing to give restaurants like this a try, nonetheless. I have been here a couple of times with coworkers, usually for lunch. While not my cup of tea, I am usually quite pleased with this place. The tofu soups seem decent to me, and have nice flavor. Service has usually been fine; no real complaints there. Their bulgogi seems tasty to me, but not substantial enough for a meal for the price. All in all, I may or may not be back, depending on who I’m with, and if the majority wants to go. Personally, this place is just not for me.

The food was ok. We had the tofu soups. Te side dishes were ok as well. For some reason, everything was just ok. It didn’t have that much flavor in my opinion. But the food came pretty fast so that was cool. It’s a food court restaurant so I guess we can’t expect too much.

Thus us our 5th time coming here. I like when it is not crowded. The server will greet you and assign you the seats. I like the starters before the main dish. They are fun to eat. You got a lot of varieties. I normally order a soon tofu soup and it is pretty much enough for my little stomach. The tofu was very soft and yummy. The environment was good. Mostly, the Asians come here to eat. They also validate parking.(Yay!) But they seem like short in staff because I always see one woman working for every table. Sometimes, the service was not quite good to be honest. Anyways, the overall eating experience was good.

For some reason for me, Soon Dubu tastes like soon dubu to me wherever I go. What I do appreciate about this spot is it comes out BUBBLING hot — and they’ve got a variety of soon dubu choices like intestine, various seafoods, and ham and sausage. Got great ban chan too, very very good kimchee and i am guilty of loving their potato salad!

Out of 2 tofu restaurants I really like, this place is one of them. Located on the 3rd floor inside the Tokyo Village Plaza, this place has really good tofu and really good banchan(side dishes) – especially the pickled kimchi cucumbers! I did try their other dishes before(like the nengmyung/cold noodles) and that thing was hella nasty, so stick to what theyre known for! Service is always fast as most Korean restaurants are, and the servers are very friendly, especially the guy server. It’s probably not easy working here, but he is always smiling and offers the best courteous service ever~ They do validate your parking ticket, so if you’re in the area and want to try something hot, I would highly recommend this place! **SIDENOTE** Not sure if they are the same owner as the SKD in KoreaTown, but the Ktown one is really really nasty. The difference in taste really makes me doubt that they are the same owner, but I think they are affiliated to say the least.

Boiling Soon Tofu Soup was incredible — something new to me — breaking the egg into it was hella fun, and the seafood pancake was damn good also. Oh and the kimchi, excellent. Service was respectable and left me thinking this experience is their normal. Excellent.

I feel like I am cheating whenever I go here for Soon Tofu soup. A walking distance from work, located in the 3rd floor of the Woori Market, you’ll find a fast, yummy and cheap lunch option. Everyone had been friendly. You get the usual banchan with your meal. One thing that they offer that I never had at other places, is the cold kimchee soup. It certainly quells my Soon Tofu addiction for a day or two. Yeah, this is definitely going to be in my lunch rotation. They offer validation for those who parked at the mall. So bonus points there.

I love korean food, but I specially love soondubu. I love this place. Food selection is great. The soondubu quality and size are the right fit for me. The side dishes are considerably better than BCD. On a cold weather day like today. Nothing beats this place.

A KTOWN style sundubu in the middle of a quiet Little Tokyo mall. $ 20 for a large spicy pork is too steep, but the tofu dishes at 8 – 9 is reasonable. Even though they place closes at 10 and if you call in, they tell you 10, you should come at 9:20PM otherwise a flustered waitress will tell you to go away. She gives no rationale. The food was comforting for my friend and the banchaan was nice, but I’d stick to Ktown for these Kdishes.

3 ½ stars?! Really?!! This place is a solid 4 stars, at least. Probably the best, authentic Korean food in downtown LA. Sure, there are hundreds of great Korean restaurants in LA but in downtown? Nope. I don’t know why it took me so long to try this place out. I’ve had it bookmarked for months. I normally just go to the Korean market downstairs to get my fix but today I wasn’t feeling so well and wanted some warm, soft tofu soup. So glad I did! Totally delicious! A variety of banchan that was both authentic and fresh. The Soondubu was so satisfying. I love the combos of both soup and BBQ. A very casual atmosphere. A perfect place to grab your kimchi fix. Service was friendly and professional. Validated parking in the garage.

One Sunday night, we were craving soondubu but didn’t to drive to Ktown — we knew that SKD was near us in Little Tokyo so we decided to give it a try. FOOD: — mushroom soondubu(medium) — the medium is basically not spicy, so definitely err on the spicy side if you want some heat. I liked that they used shitake mushrooms in this because they’re so juicy and flavorful — dumpling soondubu — a good amount of dumplings in the soup, and the dumplings themselves are meat and leek(I think) SERVICE: On a Sunday night around 7:45 pm, the place had maybe 4 – 5 tables full and only one server working. That guy was pretty fast though, our banchan and tofus came out pretty quickly and it wasn’t hard to flag him down. VENUE/PARKING: Located on the top floor of the Yaohan building(I dunno what the new name is) where Manna and the other restaurants are. They validate for parking, yay! Not bad for when you’re lazy and the craving hits, but Ktown will still be the best place for soondubu.

Kimchi is still good. Not so much everything else. I had initially came here when they first opened when the food was fresh. I went here recently and it was horrible. It’s like they haven’t gone through their first order of meat they bought when they first opened and are still serving it because the galbi tasted worse than refrigerator flavor, it tasted straight up old. There also was nothing redemable about banchan. I couldn’t eat it other than the kimichi. Everything just tasted old and WAAAAY past it’s due date.

Found myself a new healthy lunch spot. I usually meet friends that work nearby here during the lunch hour between 12 — 2pm. The good: — Reasonably priced Tofu and Korean food. — I’ve had the tofu soups, pancake, and kalbi and they always come out perfect. — They provide decent banchan. — Attentive service.(This can be hit or miss, I’m 3⁄3 for good service though) — Parking structure(SKD provides 2 hour validation) — Located in a small mall with plenty of other stops(dessert, small shops etc) Not so good: — Location is small, it can sometimes get packed during lunch hour. — Although the food quality is not bad, it can use a little more flavor. Other: — If you don’t want to wait for the check or it gets busy, just walk to the register and pay. — Again, don’t forget to validate your parking ticket(2 hours). — There is a Cherry on Top and Beard Papa on the bottom level if you feel like dessert. — There is a Tom N Toms on the bottom level also if you wan’t a latte afterwards. Overall, I’m glad this place is here. Sometimes I get tired of all the fast food chains and want a quick healthy option(that can also make me sweat a little) for lunch. SKD most definitely fills that niche.
