Me likey! I’ve been a patron for years… until I moved 5 year ago that is. My fave was and still is «Phat Pik», which is no longer on the menu. When I am in town I always try to drop in for my fix and even though my dish isn’t on the menu any more, I still ask for it and they make it, AWESOME! Also, the huge wall art on the back wall is very cool as well.

Not many food places around here that aren’t the usual pizza, Alejo’s and Chicago Ribs… The food is decent, so is the service, it’s always kind of empty. It does the trick if you’re craving thai food but it’s just A-OK.

I walk up to this restaurant(which is pretty standard from the outside) and was surprised to see all the fancy décor in here: creative lamps, nice wooden benches, ornately-carved wood screens, Thai-décor with flair, nicely lit bar to the right upon entering. * Food is pretty good and doesn’t take long to come out. * Parking sucks a bit… people can’t seem to navigate well w/small-turning radius. * Service is nice enough. * Question though: How do they pay for rent when every single time I’ve had dinner here, there’s been LESS than 5 dining parties in total?!

One of the Better Thai Food Restaurants I’ve Been To! I was out on a family/friend outing this past Sunday when we decided that it was time to eat. The consensus was that we should eat Thai food so my friend brought to Siam Restaurant. I have to say, it didn’t look to impressive from the outside when we parked but when we walked in they had all this Thai style decoration everywhere. We arrived at around 3pm on a Sunday so the restaurant was pretty empty and the atmosphere was relaxing. When we ordered, we started off with the Siam spring rolls as appetizers. The spring rolls were well cooked and nice and steamy and they gave a pretty big portion of them. They brought it out with a couple of sauces and they were all pretty good. When we got the main course, we ordered a chicken curry dish, a noodles dish with chicken and egg, a beef dish, and veggie dish.(As you can see, I don’t eat Thai often.) All of the dishes were excellent and cooked very well and extremely tasty. The portions were great and each dish came loaded with chicken and beef. This is one of the best Thai food places I’ve ever eaten at and I’m surprised that it didn’t get better reviews. Definitely 4 stars for me and I would recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve been living in the Playa apartment with my college roommates for a year now, and Siam is the restaurant we usually go to when we head out to eat. Not only is it at a walking distance, but it’s one of the better restaurants to eat around the area. I’ve been here at least 10 times with my roommates, so I’m pretty familiar with what’s good and what’s bad. The average cost of food here is around $ 8 – 10, but they give you a lot for one dish. One order should be enough to fill up one person in general. All in all the food here tastes authentic and flavorful. The interior design of the restaurant is the only thing that kind of bothers me, but maybe it’s just me. I highly recommend their: 1. Pineapple Fried Rice(exotic fried rice with pineapples, raisins, cashew, and shrimp) the best choice in my opinion. I’m obsessed with it! 2. Pad Thai(stir fried rice noodles with eggs, bean sprouts, chicken, crushed nuts, and lemon) 3. Duck Fried Rice(not sure if that’s what it’s called, but it’s chopped duck with chicken, veggies, on spicy fried rice) 4 Pad See Yew(thicker rice noodles with beef and chopped broccoli)

The Tom Kha Gai soup at Siam is the best I’ve ever had. It was also the first place I ever ate it, so it sort of set the standard. I always order it when I try a new Thai place, and it never compares to Siam’s. I also LOVE the Pad Kee Mao there. I usually order it with chicken. The noodles are nice and spicy, with plenty of peppers! It’s usually pretty quiet during lunch. The restaurant does not appear to have air conditioning, so it can get warm in there during the summer months. Service is usually fine. This is definitely one of my favorite lunch spots!

This has to be one of the more depressing thai food places I have ever been to. The inside needs some desperate changes made. When I walked in with my friends to celebrate her graduation from college, we were the first people in the restaurant, at least it seemed. When I pulled into the parking lot, I saw a poor kitchen worker washing what could have been the owners car for all I know. I can only assume he was washing SOMEONES car but if I had to guess, it would be the owner… Especially since we were in a parking lot of a restaurant. As I walked in to the door, a server was literally staring out the window, hoping for someone to come in. Service was nice and attentive and the food was ok. I ordered some chicken dish with cashews. All the plates were possibly big enough to share with others but big enough to eat on your own all depending on your appetite. Nothing too special stuck out here.

How does this place only have 30 something reviews! I love love love this Thai place! The décor inside is cute, they have large booths. and the service is so nice and friendly! I came here the other day with my best friend for a massive lunch pig-out. We ordered the dinner special option a. something like that… We were not even close to done with everything by the time we called it quits. For 17 dollars plus tax and tip for each of us, we received: — small salad with peanut dressing — soup(it was a clear broth with bok choy, pork slices, and wontons) — egg-rolls(we got 3 each) — steamed rice — shrimp pad thai — bbq’d chicken — some type of beef dish with lots of veggies(brocolli, snow peas, tomato, onions, carrots, those sprout-y things, chinese brocolli, etc) We barely made a dent in the entrees. But everything is soooooo freakkking delicious. Everything is flavored perfectly and the portions are huge. oh yeah, all the food here with beef in it is sorta salty. Well, I just think that the marinade or season the beef with too much salt/soy sauce. But it’s still sooooo good. All the food still tasted good the next day. :) Thai iced tea is good here too!

Good food and good service. The interior deco is cultural… I liked the higher ceiling which makes the restaurant seem spacious. Will be back to try others on the menu

The food is good, but the restaurant needs a bit more life in it.

Wonton soup with bbq pork and the garlic peppered pork. I’ve been coming here since I was 5 and while the decorations haven’t changed(not so good), the food has remained amazing(seriously amazing). Definitely worth a visit, good prices and there’s never a real wait :)

I love their big sign on the exterior of the restaurant. You can see the sign a block away. I came here at approximately 11:34am yesterday. They were supposed to be open at 11:30am so they were not so punctual with opening the restaurant. It seems to be a little dated inside the restaurant. However, the décor is still nicely done for what it is. It seems like this restaurant has been around for a while as evidenced by the condition of their décor. The service was okay. I was expecting more expedient service but I had to call them over to take my order. Most Thai restaurants are proactive with asking you but this one was somewhat slow, because it wasn’t just me who had to do that. I ordered a lunch special, some spicy mint chicken dish. It was decent since it accompanied by a wonton soup. The dish came with fried rice or white rice. It also had some extra pad thai noodles too with the spicy mint chicken dish. All in all, it was decent, but again, there are so many other Thai restaurants, I will venture out to try some other ones around the area.

I was really under-impressed with this restaurant. :( I ordered their version of beef drunken noodles. In my opinion, the dish lacked proper seasoning; it was quite bland. Also, they mixed in a bitter tasting vegetable, I am unfamiliar with. That combined with the excess oil made for one unappetizing dish. However, my friends liked their order– BBQ duck and shrimp pad thai(I did not taste either). And, the décor is way cool. Seems like a great place to host a party or event. I’d just pre-taste the food. Lastly, the service was great. — They get an extra star for that.

Solid Thai food in LA. Big space, friendly service and the food was pretty good. I had a nice minced chicken and white rice dish. I was told it has been around forever and is a institution and I can see why.

This place was REALLYGOOD back in the 90s, but they hit some sort of plateau(read: slump) in the 2000’s. It looks like they are back on top for 2010 because my past couple visits here have been extraordinary and reminds of their glory days. I’m not sure what it is, but everything has gotten better from the food to the service(I have noticed a few new faces). What hasn’t changed though is their décor; it isn’t a hip/cool/modern place but it has a lot character because it’s different and traditional Thai. Sometimes you don’t want bright LEDs everywhere and cold white furniture when you just want to enjoy a well cooked meal. Overall I think its a great place to bring a date or have some cheap drinks with the boys. Plus the food has never tasted better. If you haven’t been here in a while, you HAVE to come back to give it another try. I promise you will not regret it.

I stopped here for some tom yum gai soup and mee krob. Those are probably my favorite dishes from here. I don’t care for their pad Thai. It tends to be a bit mushy and has a sour taste to it. I’ve had their Thai BBQ chicken in the past, but I don’t remember it being too memorable. Their panang beef is pretty good, but sometimes too spicy for me. They used to be open on Saturdays for lunch, but not any more. Therefore, since I’m on vacation, I was able to stop in for a weekday lunch order to go. The place is kind of charming inside. It has a sort of traditional Thai look to it. Whenever I go, it’s not ever very busy, but there are usually some booths filled.

Came here a couple/few times… but it was only out of convenience. A friend used to live nearby so this was convenient for a quick bite. It’s true there is nothing good to eat around here, but maybe this one Japanese restaurant on Lincoln that’s not too far. Tried various dishes and they were ok. Nothing to rave about, but nothing to cry about either. True they have $ 3 beers. True it’s hot inside. True the décor makes me feel like I’m in a dining area on a cruise or at a señor citizen place. True I haven’t been here in over 6months. They have a small parking lot.

The decrepit Thai restaurant looks outdated and the food tastes just as stale. Siam is one of those restaurants that exist because it has accumulated so many regulars over the years. Once the patrons die off(and they slowly are) this place will wither away as it has been for the past 30 years. The front of the restaurant includes two sun-faded cardboard cutouts of Thai women who are meant to greet you. The interior of the restaurant is dressed like a dark tavern with obsolete chandeliers and jumbo-sized wooden furniture. Granted, the colassal interior space is roomy enough to house 10 pound chairs and ugly furniture. Siam’s food is greasy. The fried tofu carries a chewy consistency that is difficult to swallow. The oil from the fried food transfers onto other food with a residual aftertaste. Unlike most contemporary Thai restaurants in the area, their cooks will not steam the food as it might reveal how stale the food actually is. Suffice to say, the fried tofu is gross. Prepare to spend upwards of $ 10 for a meal, add tip.
