The purveyors of this mobile establishment could easily pimp me out if they ever decide to move from seafood to humans. I made this decision after my first bite of their perfectly cooked fish and chips. I may never try another version of this dish that tastes quite as good. What made it so great was the huge portion of deep fried, fresh cod. I’ve never had such a tasty fried fish, and it was made all the better by their excellent homemade tartar sauce. It paired perfectly with the hot well-seasoned fries. All in all, the food is everything this place is good for. It’s a mobile truck, so don’t expect shade or a place to sit. Just delicious glorious food. Yum.

That is one great sandwich!!! I had the po boy and my friend had the Victoria. We ate them standing outside because they smelled so good, no table or shade… just these sandwiches. Fantastic! Fresh shrimp, great dressing and a perfectly toasted roll. I’m a pimp for life!

The Shrimp in the Shrimp Pimp truck is what caught my eyes at first. A truck completely devoted to shrimp was a cool concept and I love some good shrimp food! All-in-all, I’d like to come back because the tastes are there; however, I have to admit, the price and some presentation issues bogged down my initial experience. This food truck has a variety of shrimp items available from sandwiches to shrimp and chips and so on. They have a good variety of drinks and prices range from about $ 7-$ 11 for items. The price is understandably a little pricey although items like the french fries(which were $ 3) seemed over-priced compared to the competition and the taste/amount didn’t justify for me the price. We had the Po Boy($ 8) and the Victorian($ 9). The first big problem I had was the burnt bread. Both sandwiches had fairly burnt buns that reached all the way to the core. Perhaps its just more of a stylistic decision but I think its possible to have some delicious buns/bread without having to burn the sandwich unless requested. Hot sauce is available upon request! The Po Boy had a good taste about it although was a bit bland. The crispy shrimp was delicious and overall, was a pretty good po boy, definitely the better one I’ve had from a food truck. The Victorian, however, is definitely the sandwich to beat. With avocado and peppers and some fresh grilled shrimp, all-in-all, the Victorian was a delight to bite. The size of the sandwich was also pretty good, about 6 inches or a little less if I am getting my sizes right. So again, I enjoyed my time at the Shrimp Pimp but I still have some problems with the presentation and price. I’ll have to come back and check again to see if they still bother me.

I’ve been workin’ it for the Shrimp Pimp. What ever I make has been paid! I had my first encounter with the Shrimp Pimp with a divine cup of Serrano Chili Mojito-ade. All this blissful drink was missing was tequila or rum. Absolutely zesty with a hint of heat at the back of the palate. It gently warmed me as it went down! In one hand I had the mojito(minus the booze) in one hand and a Greek Shrimp Sandwich. They sure know how to put it all together and whip a shrimp up right! This sandwich is stuffed with perfectly sauteed shrimp and fresh tomato sauce and tossed with basil and creamy feta.(perfectly addictive).(Made my toes curl!) Another encounter with the shrimp pimp I dove into an order of Shrimp Ceviche. Two tender cups of butter lettuce nest a scoop of fresh shrimp ceviche. Zesty, crunchy, hint of onion and lime — Shrimp perfectly firm. VERYNICE! I found that alot of effort is put into these lil’ cups of heaven! Definitely worth the effort. The last trick I turned with the shrimp pimp, I got served up the seared sashimi salad. Fresh baby greens sets the base for this salad. Perched atop this tender bed, are tender, perfectly seasoned and seared sashimi. Perfect with the ginger dressing(served on the side). Flavors are bright, balanced and well defined. The special mojito flavor of the night was STRAWBERRYMOJITOLEMONADE! MMMM!!! Again, perfectly balanced. Hint of mint lingering in my mouth! LOVED it! I’ve never had a bad meal ever from the Shrimp Pimp truck. Always consistent and always a surprise on the mojito flavors!

Shrimp Pimp Truck, no wonder you are called that way! You would be pimpin’ us with these delicious shrimp concoctions! I first had my Shrimp Pimp Truck experience at Highland Park’s Din Din a Go Go with a couple of my friends and tried something new — the Victoria Sandwich, which had shrimp, salmon, avocado, spicy aioli dressing, and other veggies in a french roll! This was quite different because it looked almost like a banh mi! After eating this with a hungry appetite, I was satisfied because this sandwich was very flavorful and the dressing would instantly make the Victoria Sandwich a winner. If you weren’t up for shrimp sandwiches, they also have shrimp and chips, Po Boy, drunken shrimp taco, and even sashimi tuna tacos to name a few. I had to wait a few minutes to get my food, so service was decent. Overall, Shrimp Pimp Truck did not disappoint.

I found the Shrimp Pimp truck over by Westside Food Truck gathering(by Overland and Washington) for dinner. I went ahead and ordered a Shrimp Po Boy and then noticed that they also serve ahi tuna tacos! Oooh captured my interest and I ordered it(w/full intentions of sharing) as well. Roughly 10 mins and $ 15 later, my name was called out and I happily collected my food. The tacos were tiny! They were good, basically poke style w/a sliver of avocado in a crunchy taco shell. The Po Boy was nicely dressed w/greens and tomato slices. There was a decent amount of(well-cooked) shrimp. Pretty good overall. 3 stars!

Big Shrimpin’, Spendin’ Cheese, (.somethin-somethin-somethin-somethin.), What Rhymes With Cheese. I heard about this truck for what feels like forever ago, but hadn’t seen em until I caught em at Southbay Dindinagogo. True to their name, Shrimp Pimp boasts a lot of shrimp dishes, along with some other fish-type stuff on there, such as fish ‘n chips and seared ahi sashimi. They were out of the Sashimi plates, but it ain’t called Sashimi Pimp, so I wasn’t too heartbroken. Almost tried the Shrimp Bruschetta, but that idea just made me miss Global Soul’s Shrimp Toastie, so i had to pass. The Po Boy looked alright too, but plenty of folks make a Po Boy these days. So for optimal new-food exposure, I tried the Victoria Sandwich because I like shrimp, I like salmon, and I like sandwiches. And some avocado doesn’t hurt either. The Victoria also has a spicy aioli dressing that has some kick to it, makin this one a keeper. Also sampled the shrimp n chips, which were crispy and plump; they prolly clock in at around 31⁄35 count. Size-wise they certainly dont scrimp on the Scrimps. Also, service was courteous and efficient. For a busy night they were gettin the food out quick. All in all, they’re a good truck I’d like to see again so I can try those tacos — unless someone else starts driving around a Sashimi Genie.

I’ve seen this truck once before and the line wasn’t very line. This time at a different location, it had the longest line compared to the other surrounding food trucks. Even though I’ve been to New Orleans three times, I never tried a po’ boy sandwich!(I guess I was too caught up with the fried catfish, beignets, Hurricanes, jambalaya, dirty rice, etc.) The shrimp po’ boy here was attractive and tasty with crispy tempura shrimp on a crunchy French roll with greens, tomatoes, and remoulade sauce. The fish and chips had a generous sized fish and although it had a great Guinness batter to it, some of it wasn’t completely cooked so the batter was a little gooey in certain parts. The fries were average. In short, I would say this truck is worth following.

At first, i thought it’d be a dim sum truck. Then to my joys, it was shrimp all ways all the time. Awesome! Being my virgin encounter, had to get the Po’ Boy. Only other one i;ve had was in NOLA during mardi gras, so big shoes to fill. Shrimp pimp did well — wasnt better than NOLA but it was tasty, filling, and did remind me of the NOLA version. Agree that the batter is a little heavy for me. I’d also like the shrimp a little crispier(while still staying lightly battered). It was hot, fresh, quick. Good truck food. Also love that the portions are HUGE. That’s key coming from a truck with this price tag. I would try this pimpin fancy again, but maybe something else on the menu — sashimi tacos maybe?

This truck had the longest line and the menu seemed interesting enough so I had to try it. For $ 8 I had myself the Victoria Sandwich; Sautéed Shrimp & Smoked Salmon served on a toasted French Roll with Red Bell Pepper, Avocado, Baby Greens and Spicy Aioli Dressing. I have to admit, this sandwich was good. I wasn’t too sure about the particular combo of seafood in the sandwich but it worked. The salmon added the right amount of salt to the shrimp and the spicy aioli worked to bring the whole thing together. Next time I’m either going to try their Guinness Beer Battered Fish & Chips or their Tempura Battered Shrimp Po Boy… or maybe their Drunken Shrimp Taco with Sherry Ginger Sauce.

Was a little hesitant at first but I went up and ordered the PO Boy. Awesome little creation. Big sandwich with deep fried shrimp on the inside. With what looks like a salad on top with sauce. I gotta say it was definitely delicious the way you bite off and pieces of hot deep friend shrimp bite back at you with the crunch of the toasted bread. Good Stuff. Would definitely try to go back.

Pimpin with the shrimp! I’ve tried their shrimp tacos a couple of times, and OOOOWEEEE those shrimp are flavored well! I donno how they do it, but they’re just bursting with taste. The tacos are pretty small, so I’d recommend getting a few as an appetizer, or a bunch for a meal. I feel like their tacos should be cheaper than $ 3 each, considering how small they are though. Needless to say, the shrimpies are good. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to hunt down this truck the same way I do for Nom or Grilled Cheese.

Original concept with clever name and serves a tasty fried shrimp po-boy which I tried. They have options for non-shrimptarians. The Tuna Tacos came highliy recommended from someone waiting in line and they also serve salmon.

Ok this has to be my favorite truck now! I’ve been wanting to try their food for awhile, but was never close to where it was until FINALLY they came to the SGV. I had the Victoria Sandwich($ 8), which has sauteed shrimp, smoked salmon, baby greens, red bell peppers, & spicy aioli dressing in a French roll. I guess $ 8 is kind of pricey for a sandwich, but it was worth it for me! It was so flavorful and with high quality ingredients. The shrimp was so tender and the smoked salmon with the spicy aioli dressing gave it a little kick. This truck is definitely a classy truck with their gourmet food and ingredients. It’s very different from The Shrimp Guys truck… and the food is ready pretty fast. Must try the popular Po Boy sandwich next time!

I got to try the Shrimp Pimp Truck when they were at the Century Lot on Tuesday. My boss was buying so I ordered the Sashimi Tuna Tacos which came with sashimi tuna and avocado served in a corn tortilla and topped with a soy onion dressing. 3 for $ 7. It also came with 2 onion rings. In addition to that, I got one Drunken Shrimp Taco which came with Shrimp marinated in ginger sauce, sautéed, and serve on a tortilla. 1 for $ 3.00 Between the two, I would recommend the Sashimi Tuna Tacos. They were good. Although, I didn’t really like the Shrimp Taco. The taco came with three pieces of shrimp… and some other stuff. I don’t know. Just stick with the sashimi tuna tacos. The onion rings were good to chomp on while you were eating the tuna. I would definitely eat here again.

Got two drunken shrimp tacos for $ 5. I must admit they were delicious! I was surprised to see they both had a good amount of shrimp. Not a big fan of the orange slice on top. Will definitely hunt this truck down when I’m in the mood for shrimp tacos!

If I’m going to the Shrimp Pimp, does that make me a Shrimp Hoe? I stumbled on these guys at the OC New Year’s Block Party back in 2010. It appeared that the Victoria Sandwich was their signature dish, so I went with that one. The total came out to be a whoppin’ 8 bucks, but it was worth it. The sandwich was served in a warm, fresh baked French baguette, loaded with shrimp and stuffed with a mixed green salad with red peppers and thin slices of avocado. My only complaint about this sandwich is it’s too big. This is one of the few cases where bigger is not always better. The girth of the sub was so massive that I needed two hands to stuff it in my mouth. The spicy white sauce just dripped and oozed out of my mouth as I tried to bite down into the sandwich. Some of the sauce squirted out of the tip of the sandwich and got on my nipples. It was messy and hard to eat standing up. Other than that, thumbs up Shrimp Pimp! A little about my credentials: I first got into cooking & food when I was in college. After being rejected by numerous girls and getting zero action, I decided it was time for a change. I needed a new makeover to boost my geeky, engineering image. I applied for a cooking position at a Mediterranean-Italian Restaurant near my home and learned to cook all sorts of pastas and dishes. I never became a professional chef, but I continue to enjoy & love food. 8 years later and 55 lbs heavier, I am now an engineer that travels all over the world trying new foods and learning about different cultures.

My heart and mind said«do what Bill C. did and get the PoBoy» but my stomach said«not if you want to visit another truck you won’t» so my eyes found the Small Bites menu. Went with two of the Drunken Shrimp Tacos which are marinated in a sherry ginger sauce and put inside double corn tortillas. Perfection. Perfect size, perfect mixture of flavors and an excellent menu item. The mandarin oranges surprisingly really brought this together better than I expected. Service was friendly, they take plastic and still hold the promise of 5-stars when I go back for the PoBoy!

5 stars Not maybe 4, maybe 5 Not 4.5 and I’m in a good mood so I’ll round up. Only one way to rate this one SOLID5 hard earned delicious stars. My Po Boy was absolutely awesome. The French Roll is about 8 inches long, toasted and it is overstuffed with tempura-style shrimp with a Louisiana style remoulade sauce. It was a wonderful sandwich. Next time I go, I think I will have the Victoria sandwich which is a combination of shrimp and smoked salmon. That sounds good too. One last thing, when you order from the Shrimp Pimp you give your cash or credit card to them just like you would do at any other shrimp truck. There is no need to leave the money on the dresser. «Gourmet Food Truck #21 on my never-ending quest to try every truck in So Cal»
