Candi took me as a walk-​in as I just needed a quick trim for a few upcoming events. They are located directly across the street from where I work so I just walked over but they tell me their parking is FREE. That’s a goldmine in downtown.
Candi took care of my bangs and trimmed my eyebrows as well (I’m getting old I guess) and we had a good time talking about Little Tokyo, where she’s been doing business for over 30 years.
I recommend checking them out if you live downtown or are visting Little Tokyo. Get some good eats (you can grab a bite at the Lazy Ox or Aburiya Toranoko next door), take in the cultural sights (across the street from the JACCC) and get a haircut all in one afternoon.

Just had my hair cut by Susan, who really knows what she’s doing. I love my cut and style now. She gave me some tips on Moroccan oil. I’m liking that stuff.
My mom and I went to see Susan in this nice new location thanks to a well-​timed referral. The salon is located in a recently renovated building near Threads (a café, not a clothes shop, surprisingly). Everything there is really new and clean. Liked the location, not far from a bunch of goood Little Tokyo restaurants. After we were done here, we walked a block or two to Sushi Gen… sushi bar!
Parking is easy; go into the structure and walk into the salon via the door through the lot. The double doors to the street are locked.
I’m going back to see Susan, definitely.

my mom has been getting her hair cut & colored here for about 10 years now by Hiroko & it’s the first time I’ve been here… now I didn’t have any work done but I am writing because of how they treated me just waiting for my mom to have her color & cut finished… my mom looked like a million bucks but she felt even more than that after Hiroko was done… it was special to see my mom soooo happy after that I may have to make that drive into J town to experience it first hand…

I highly recommend this salon. Candi is one of the stylists and owners.
She is absolutely wonderful with hair. She has been cutting my hair for over 15 years. She listens to my needs!
When they moved to downtown I tried other stylists near my house, but they weren’t the same. This lasted for a couple of months.
So now I am back to Shizu Beauty Salon. It’s worth the drive to downtown LA.
