the chicken and zereshk polo was served cold. but the rest of the meal, the ghormesabzi and tadigh were good. salad shirazi could use some more zest too

The food is great but this is the 3rd time we have ordered delivery and they said it would only take up to an hour and it has taken 1 hour and 30 minutes. I originally read this to stars but now I’m changing it to one because the food is still not here!!!

This is for delivery on a Tuesday night. The food is good, if you can manage to get what you order, but the people are TERRIBLE! The first gentleman I spoke with insisted I ordered both beef and chicken koobideh. He was wrong. I know I ordered all chicken koobideh(and the order is right in front of me online). He says a woman will call me back. The woman calls and tells me they don’t take the order the way I order it– asking for an extra koobideh and okaying being charged extra even though I’ve ordered it like that three times already. She also argues with me that I ordered beef koobideh and the driver has the paper that will prove it. She insists she’s right and refuses to hear otherwise, even when I tell her I’m looking at the order online and can give her the order number. She calls the delivery driver and he confirmed I ordered all chicken. No apology from her at all. She tells me I need to pay $ 9 for the extra skewer of koobideh I ordered. Considering an entire dish of Lubia polo with one skewer is $ 9.95 that’s ridiculous. And to cap it off, she tells me my order won’t arrive for another 45 minutes and my delivery time was supposed to be 15 minutes before or at the time we were speaking, an hour after I ordered for immediate delivery. She insisted that orders take 90 minutes and says so on the website which is also untrue– it says 45 – 60. And even if it were true, her quoted time to me was two hours. I live 11 minutes from the restaurant; it took nearly two hours to get my food.

Fresh salmon & Cornish hen kabobs our family favorites. However the Persian bread is incredible! Definitely a stand out Persian restaurant in Westwood!

Came in here last night for a friends bday dinner as he wanted to eat kabob. Ordered the chicken amd it was moist and cooked well but lacked flavor. Food was large portions. Biggest problem, my friends food had a bug in it. We told our waitress and she swapped it out for a new one, but yet still charged us for it. When we asked why she would do that when she saw an insect on our food she tried justifying the charge because he got a new order and still ate his food. Not ok with me. You’ve been warned

I love, love, love this restaurant, been getting take put for years, their lamb dishes are outstanding, parking tough at times but it’s beautiful, clean, fast courteous service and great food.

Tried lamb chops, chicken kabobs, and some grilled chicken. The chicken was good quality and had good flavor. The lamb chops were somewhat tough, and were lacking in flavor. The server brought us a huge platter of rice, for just three people, which was a waste — they could be a lot smarter with portions. Overall, I feel like the quality of the ingredients was good, but the flavor was lacking.

Shaherzad, I hope my wife removes you from her brain. This place is so unbelievably inconsistent it’s a marvel to me they can manage to stay in business. To start, I have only placed deliveries with Shaherzad. If I have eaten at the location, I apologize. It was obviously not memorable enough to make a mental note, but I digress. I anticipate a struggle with delivery from any restaurant. Whether it be a Pizza joint, Chinese or even Persian food a little give in delivery time is expected. It’s unfortunate and definitely the M.O. of the SoCal lazy I have come to «live with» around here, but expected. Needless to say when it becomes a consistent pattern something has got to give. This is the 3rd time now that Shaherzad has been late with their delivery. Our order was placed with them around 5:30. At 6:30 we were told they were running behind and delivery would be between 7:30 — 7:45. Well, thats amazing. Because It is now 8:40 and still not even a «sorry». In fact at 8 when my wife called up to check and see if they forgot about us, she received a short«the driver is one your street» *Click*. No more reason to talk, he still isn’t here. Well thanks you dip. Thanks for lying to us again. Still no delivery, and not even an apology for f’n up so many times in one evening. 1-star my rear-end.

I would rate this place higher based off times I have eaten in the actual restauraunt but beware ordering delivery. They always take longer then they quote you but this last time was just ridiculous. I ordered delivery through eat24 and was quoted 45 – 60 mins. An hour and some mins later I get a call saying it will be another hour and a half. 2 and a half hours is ridiculous! No offer of n apology or anything! Who do they think they are? Their food is not 2.5 hours wait worthy! To top it off they were not able to cancel my order I had to go through eat 24. I’m still waiting to be credited back my money. Some notes on the food now: Yogurt with shallots– is good I would order again. It tastes exactly as it should. Shirazi salad– very mediocre! They do not use enough lemon and it tasted dry. Barg– very good! My favorite dish they have. House Dough– worth getting! Perfectly minty!

My favorite persian food in Los Angeles, I always get high quality food and huge portions. The barg is always super tender and tasty. I love the tahdig and the khorshet is amazing. I’ll be back!

This Iranian restaurant has amazing food and their bread is made from scratch. Their waiters are bilingual and the only downside is the price of their pop(it’s $ 2 to $ 3 per can). I’m the type of person who has to have pop with this type of food so I think I’ll take that money somewhere else. Overall, except it not to be cheap. You should keep in mind though price equals the quality of your food.

We had Chello-Kabob or as this restaurant calls it, beef kabob. Rice was good, however meat quality was very low. Color, texture and taste was bellow a good Persian restaurant and not to mention, it gave me stomach pain! Restaurant was clean, however outdated.

I don’t like it. I have eaten at a lot of Persian restaurants in Westwood. I am Persian and trust me I eat a lot of Persian food and I love kabob. Service is very important, but when the waiters think that their only job is to take an order and leave everything else to the Hispanic workers who’s job is not even to wait and also whom don’t have any idea of how to provide service the way Persians expect, that is unacceptable. The food is overpriced, the atmosphere is so old. Place hasn’t obviously been touched since the 90’s and most importantly the food SUCKS. The people who dine here either aren’t Persian or if they are, these are people who are long time loyalists who are in denial and think they are better than others coming to a restaurant known to be a little higher class than the rest. I feel sorry for them because if they took their head out their you know what’s and actually saw what else is out there, they would get a serious wake up call.

I came to this place with my family and everything is good from their appetizers to their bread to their main dishes. I got fesenjoon which was delicious and my brother had the koobideh which was really good. You must try the tadig and moste mousiuir. The make their bread fresh weight in front of you.

My colleagues and I ordered Shaherzad via Door Dash App to have delivered to our office. By the time the food arrived, we were about to eat off our arm, since they were late by 40 minutes after their estimated delivery time. Of course, both Shaherzad and Door Dash blamed each other for their lateness. I’ve dined here a handful of times and always had a good experience, but getting take-out from this place is probably not worth the disappointment! The enormous flat bread they brought us was overly microwaved, since the texture was hard on some parts, yet chewy and rubbery throughout. Such a disappointment. They also forgot my order which was the Chicken Koobideh so the three of us split two orders of the Grilled Chicken Kabob. The chicken was extremely overcooked and terribly dry. There’s nothing in the world more boring than dry chicken breast. It took them another hour and a half to bring me my Chicken Koobideh, and by that time it was too late. So round two, the flat bread was again overly microwaved, rubbery and chewy. An underwhelming, epic fail.

You’ve got your pick of Persian spots in Westwood, but Shaherzad is the place I keep coming back to time and again. A lot of it has to do with consistency. Sometimes I eat in and other times, I order delivery, but every time, the food is exactly what you expect. The bread is always fresh and tasty, and I’ve had my share of menu options, and the chicken and beef entrees are high quality and delicious. The Albaloo Polo is a must have, and the Chicken Fesenjan is addictive. The meat is fall-off-the-bone tender. This place gives you all the sumac your heart desires, which makes everything better. Service can be hit or miss even at off-peak hours. The servers are very friendly, though. Another negative is that they sometimes run out of Tahdig. And if you haven’t had their Tahdig, you are missing out.

Get the Tahchin and the Kashk Bademjan! The Tahchin is a very interesting dish that looks like a layered cake, except that it’s made of baked rice and there’s meat in the middle that acts as the«filling.» It’s topped with tart barberries that compliment the savory taste of the baked rice and meat. The Kashk Bademjan is an unassuming eggplant onion dip that goes really well with the freshly baked bread that they give you at the beginning of the meal. Four stars because the food is a little pricey and the service was just ok. The waiter who served us seemed rushed and we had to flag him down just to get us some water.

The food was so good I forgot to take pictures! We started with hummus, Shirazi Salad(chopped Persian cucumber, tomato and cilantro, with fresh lime juice and extra virgin olive oil dressing), and pita. It was a nice way to wait for our main courses. Between the three of us, we each had one full entrée, and took half home. So you could definitely share. I had the Ghaimeh Stew with yellow split peas cooked in a special tomato and onion sauce, and served with diced beef. I was in love! I couldn’t wait to eat my leftovers the next day. The base — split peas in the tomato sauce — was so amazing! It was flavorful with just the right amount of spices, but not too spicy. I could eat it all day. It was served with a giant plate of rice — definitely enough for two meals. I tried my friend’s Bademjan Stew with baked eggplant, cooked in a tomato and onion sauce with chicken. It was ok, but it was a bit spicier than I wanted. I thought the lentils were way better than the eggplant, even though I usually prefer eggplant. I think it was a difference in the spices in the sauces. My other friend tried one of the house rice specialties. It was a huge portion, but I felt that the stews were juicier and had more flavor, so I don’t think I’ll try that when I return. Additional pros: Easy street parking on a Monday night around 7, and we missed the worst traffic, so I’ll definitely be back on a work night.

Good Persian food at a fair price. Took the waiter’s recommendation and went with the house special: a Moussaka-like creation sandwiched between layers of fried rice that hit the spot. Ambiance is OK, but most people come(and return) for the food. The basics are covered, so it should appeal to anyone who wants one of traditional offerings. High recommend and will return when in the area again.

I came back here to relive memories of my youth, and perhaps days where I ate koobideh like a king. Shaherzad, despite some issues, will always have a special place in my heart for it’s proximity to UCLA and for it’s rich dishes. I found the beef koobideh to be just as I had it many years ago. The beef is very soft with a slight egg flavor to keep it all together. The rice could have been more plentiful, but I found it to be the softest basmati rice around. The tomato was huge, and ever-so-juicy in what was left in the take home box. This is probably my favorite dish here, athough I have sampled the salmon and the fesenjon here as well. The salmon is quite plentiful, and large in comparison to what you may get at other restaurants. As for the fesenjon, you’ll have enough to last you two days despite the subtle and smooth flavors present. While I could say the staff could use some light-hearted smiles and stop trying to upsell certain drinks or dishes, they seemed to work out this time. I was happy to get the extra bread and butter, albeit slowly. Regardless of the staff’s disposition and lack of mindfulness, I came here for the food. I’m happy to have visited again, and will when I can. Parking can be a bit tricky, and while reservations aren’t always needed, I scheduled it as a safety. I have never been here and had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. So if anything, call in advance to see how busy the restaurant is, and be prepared to park a block or two away.
