Serves You Right Catering

Serves You Right Catering came recommended to me by a fellow industry professional. Having been in events for 15 years it is easy to use the same catering teams over and over for your events. That being said I really wanted something different, fresh and fun for a very large event I was planning. I reached out to Michele and her amazing team with only a few weeks to plan a rather elaborate party and I must say, from initial phone call to the weeks leading up to the event they were on it. They were eager to understand and get all the details right. They were happy to accommodate crazy ideas and came back with bigger ideas and different options when asked. They were a catering team without ego involved– honestly they cared only about making it right for the client. That in itself was refreshing to work with… Serves You Right’s servers and staff were punctual, prepared, happy and seemed genuinely excited about their job. The team worked like a well oiled machine. I could go one and on about the service aspect and the way they made the event feel like an opera when it came to food service… Let’s talk about the food– so amazing! I didn’t have time for a tasting. I honestly trusted them to create good food and man was I surprised– they blew it out of the park! Guests were begging for more and they just kept serving. The menu was unique but timeless. The food was fresh and creative but not too fancy to eat. The flavors were all there waiting to be discovered in each and every bite. My best advice is to hire them tell them a bit about your likes and dislikes and then trust them to create a menu for you. You will be blown away and so happy about your decision to hire Serves You Right Catering!

I do not even know where to start to share what an amazing business Serves You Right Catering is. I called last summer while planning my daughter’s wedding. I had spoken to a couple of other catering businesses that had been recommended and I left messages and ½ of them never returned my phone call and when the did they left me cold. I was nervous and worried about finding a great caterer and I called SYR and got a live voice first time I called! Matt Wyss called me and from that moment on, I felt at ease and calmed and without even tasting their food, knew that he was the person with whom I wanted to work. Because the venue is nontraditional (Fern Cottage in El Sobrante), we knew we wanted the food to be a little different and not a sit down meal. Matt offered us many options for stations and ultimately, created a menu that not only tasted fabulous, but also looked incredible to our guests. I was concerned that there would be enough food for the 150+ guests in attendance. and as Matt assured me, there was more than enough and every station was unique and delicious. Matt is a genius, creative, kind and while not formally trained, a therapist! Going to the tasting was like being out to eat at a fine restaurant. His staff is incredible. We worked with Corra who was the head server and she could not have been more competent and lovely. At the event, she kept checking with my husband and me to be sure that we were ok and were getting what we needed. I felt like I had my own personal chef with me! I cannot say enough wonderful things about SYR and in particular, Corra and Matt. The food is superb and what they bring with respect to organization and follow through is equally wonderful. They always did what they said they would and they followed through immediately. Their communication, also, was fantastic. I needed a lot of hand holding and always knew that I was in great hands. Their relationship with East Bay Regional Park people is a great one and I felt that we had stumbled upon the best kept secret in the Bay Area… the dream team of Corra and Matt, Marcie, Lea and Harriet. We were /​are so fortunate. I wish I had another event to plan! The wedding was spectacular and exceeded all of our expectations… and our guests were wowed! Do not hesitate to work with Matt… you will find yourself in the most capable «food hands» in The Bay Area! I will miss them working with them

I was recently lucky enough to be recommended by a dear foodie friend to use this catering comp for a mother’s day brunch for 25. From the first person who took my call, the staff were truly outstanding, helpful, service oriented, friendly and professional. The food was THE BEST everyone in my family had ever had from a catering company, restaurant quality, even as good as the best of the best in our family. Dishes are fresh, plentiful and interesting with pretty and novel presentation. They have earned our respect, loyalty and friendship. Owner Michelle Gan is on top of everything, helpful in planning lay out for party, menu, truly a super caterer and her employees respect her too. What says it more? If you are lucky enough to use them you are in for a treat!
