There arnt many Korean shabu spots. This is one of the only ones that I know of. And it’s absolutely amazingballs. It doesn’t only taste good, but also healthy. I always get the beef here, it’s #3. At the end of your meal, they crack an egg into your soup broth with some seaweed and a bowl of rice to make the best porridge for an amazing finishing touch. Shabu won’t taste any healthier or better than this.

Packed on a Tuesday night — I should have known this was a great sign! PARKING: Valet or street. Valet is $ 2. FOOD: –We opted for the shabu shabu on this visit. You’ll need to order 2 types of meat for the table, so we got pork and duck. Both were amazing, but the duck was my favorite of the two. The meats are served with a heaping plate of shredded greens that includes some konnyaku(great texture!). This was my first time having korean style shabu, and I was amazed that the quality of the ingredients truly showed through with such a simple preparation. The cherry on top was the udon then porridge preparation. Ahh the porridge was perfect for the rainy weather we had been having and seriously hit the spot. –Banchan: Loved it –great selection. SERVICE: Korean aunties were very attentive and helped us load the pot with more meat as the meal progressed. You know it’s a good sign when everyone else in the restaurant is korean. Can’t wait to bring ERRBODY. Love this place!

I’ve been coming back here for over ten years. Nothing has changed! Not the food quality, not the staff(yes — we recognized each other), and not even the menu(fine– they added duck as an option for the hot pot). So a very very slight change — that’s it! It’s more of a comfort restaurant where there’s hot pot, udon, then congee. I love it as there’s plenty of variety and you leave very full! I also always take home the extra congee(rice porridge) at the end to save for the next day’s breakfast or lunch.

Love this place! Came here after a work out session with my bestie. First, they serve you hot pot with clear broth. The variety of veggies and meat is enough to make the experience very tasty!!! I could not stop eating. It was just so good. The owner also helped us cook! Thus great service. Just when My pants was about to burst, don’t forget there is still the udon noodles and the rice. It was so good and I wish I had a larger stomach! Would definitely come again. I would recommend to come with several friends so you don’t waste food! The place is clean and quiet, lots of parking space! Love it!

There are lot of great Shabu Shabu places in LA, but this is Korean Shabu Shabu /Hot Pot so the differentiation and ending is key and really one of the best I’ve had in a while. You’ve heard of Shabu Shabu and Hot Pot, but let the Korean version, Jing-Gee Skhan please stand up. I suppose like Genghis Khan and the Mongolian heritage that Korean people all share. For all other Korean dishes there are places in Ktown that specialize in them, so for this restaurant come here to get that and only that. The side dishes aka banchan is sparse, but for good reason because you need to save you stomach for the grand finale. The finale is the key with some sesame oil, seaweed, and rice that turns it into an amazing porridge. The Jing-Gee Skhan is clean and healthy and quite a large portion for two at dinner so be prepared. It isn’t the super sweet sort of meals the American culture has shaped us for, so if you want some good pure food come here for sure. This is an old school Ktown location and it hasn’t changed with the changing world around it. I really appreciate locations like this. Check it out for the good thing it specializes in that has kept its doors open for so long.

SOGOOD! Visited the restaurant on a weekday and got to try both the duck and beef shabu shabu(or as they call it ghengis khan). It was priced at around $ 25 a person for lunch, so not necessarily cheap, but worth every dollar. The quality of their meats were delicious and the vegetables they give you to mix with the meat was fresh. After eating all the meat, they create a porridge for you, which is AMAZING. The porridge alone is so yummy! I prefer shabu shabu’s that aren’t greasy and light, so this was perfect. I will definitely visit this restaurant again! *Be advised that during lunch time, the place does get relatively packed, so plan accordingly!

I dont really like leaving comments especially bad one. I was here today with my mother enjoying our shabushabu. Next thing you know, this rusted metal part appeared and we told one of the waiter. I understand that things happens time to time but how they reacted was shocking. they simply said sorry with an attitude saying what can i do about this? Do you want a free soda? I cant believe of their service. i am disappointed of how disrespectful they were

Meat is of good quality, no wait for lunch. The only problem I have is that I feel like the meat of 2 orders are kind of the same as that of 3 orders. So maybe ordering 2 is better?

My friend John took me to try this place. They have hot pot and bbq. The meat quality is way better than what you have at $ 10 kbbq places. Also I recommend the cold noodles! It’s so refreshing and good!

My inlaws wanted to buy dinner so we met them here. The shabu shabu, hilariously named after gengis khan wasn’t my favorite. Everything was so flavorless. Super healthy, yes. But without the goeey sauce from a regular shabu shabu, the meal was definitely boring. Even the noodles and jook that they give you at the end was so plain. No flavor. However, alllll of the ban chans were soooo delicious. We also got an order of hwe dup bap and nengmyun. Hwedupbap was good. Nengmyun was okay. Sorry Korea, I think we lost here on the hot pot.

Hmm. I don’t get it. I never was a giant fan of hot pot/shabu/etc, but this one especially left me feeling let down. Portions: Pathetic. The end. Flavor: What flavor? Everything is generic beef broth. Ambiance: No. Service: Slightly below-average-ish. Better than«old school» Korean restaurants. A lot worse than the«newer generation». Maybe they haven’t heard of Unilocal yet. This place seems to be the default place for Korean millennials to take their parents. I feel sorry for those parents. Including my own mother. Sorry, mom, I won’t make you eat mediocre shabu again.

It’s good food but nothing extraordinary tasting. It is a fun experience cooking the food yourself in a hot pot. After you’re done cooking and eating the meat and veggies the server makes udon in the leftover broth then finishes off with making rice in the same pot of broth. The sides were delicious, especially the two kinds of kimchi. Valet parking is required and costs $ 2. There was no wait when I went on a Wednesday night.

Always been a fan of this spot. Korean shabu! I think it’s like $ 30 – 40 a person. Not sure because I never pay: X. But it’s worth it! Meat is very thinly sliced and it comes with a big bowl of veggies that you throw into the broth to cook with. Few side dishes(I like the Korean pickles, and the broccoli salad .it’s almost like a potato salad ish type dish.) anyways … It doesn’t come with rice because they actually use rice to make porridge after. But if you like rice, like me. Ask before hand! It can get crowded so call ahead and ask how long the wait is. They have valet too!

Woah for the shabu here. Yes, it costs mad money. Lunch portion was $ 28! I think dinner was $ 10 more. No, I wouldn’t do it often but try it once. The broth they use is pretty special but it’s probably made special via MSG like every Asian restaurant. We got 3 orders of beef shabu. They brought out a large plate with thin slices so it’s hard to tell the quantity but it seemed like a fair amount for the price. That includes a plate loaded with some greens I’ve never seen, a few tofu, Japanese mushrooms, and some jelly/rice cake type things that were interesting. After the meat they put in udon noodles. I’m sure your order size dictates the amount. After the noodles they put in rice and crack an egg and make jook. Sooooo good. You’re absorbing all the flavors and enhancers from the broth. The side dishes were really good as well. The service was very friendly and quick. They brought out whatever we requested with a smile. The place is pretty large although fractured so it’s not one large room. It’s an aging design but they keep it maintained. The parking is valet only for $ 2. Otherwise, find meters. I would definitely give this place a go at least once.

For sure broke after this. Spent almost $ 30 here for lunch. I don’t think that’s worth the money. But it was Korean Hot Pot and different than the usual Tofu House food or Korean BBQ. Still a nice place to eat. Just not worth the money. But great service and delicious food.

Had both shabu shabu, fried rice, and korean bbq. Delicious! We started off with side dishes and salad. There were fewer side dishes — around five — than what I’m accustomed to — around eight to ten. Missing were bean sprouts, apple mayo salad, potato, fish cakes. Korean bbq was delicious. The waitress cooked and cut the meat for us. Galbi came on the side on a sizzling cute turtle metal pan. Galbi was good but it wasn’t as flavorful and chewy as the galbi I gnaw on at other places, though the softer feel may be because this is high quality meat which lends a different flavor? The meat had marbling throughout, marking the high quality and taste. Dipping the meat in the salt pepper sauce mixture tastes great. Then they cooked fried rice on the table for us which was pretty good. Slightly spicy for flavor but not overly so. Next was the hot pot. The mixture of greens and meat dipped in the souplike sauce. The greens give a satisfying crunch while you chew on the meat. I don’t love greens, but these greens were an amazing combo with the meat. Finally, after all the meat and veggies bestowed their flavors into the broth, they’ll make a rice porridge. The rice porridge is perhaps the best part of the meal — the grand finale. I’ve tasted even better at Hong Kong, but this is US and it was very good porridge. I think it would be even better if there was a thicker texture and more concentrated flavor. At the very end they give you a dessert sweet rice drink which helps with digestion. Overall the experience and service was great. The waitress spend a lot of effort and time cooking meats and prepping for the next dish so it makes the eaters job easy!

I know they are known for Shabu Shabu but my review is based only on Neng Myun(Cold Noodle) and service here. I am not a big fan of Shabu Shabu anyway and plus I feel that paying more than $ 20 whatever dollars for meat, veggies and water broth is worthless. I rather have Shabu Shabu at home myself. Plus, I dont understand why its expensive either. I mean for other dishes, they actually cook it and most of us dont know how to cook or come here to eat because the food is tasty and we pay money for that. But for raw meat, veggies and some sauce doesnt cut it for me. However, their Neng Myun is decent. I had both types of Neng Myun; with broth and with spicy sauce. I likes both actually. I love how they have everything that Neng Myun should have such as meat, pickled radish, cucumber, pear, boiled egg. Ive seen many places without pear and meat as one of the garnishers. But they are not missing any of them AND they are pretty delicious. Spicy one has diced pear and the texture is just beautiful. Loved it so much. Service is below average I guess. Theyre so slow and they are hard to find after youre seated and you get your food. I normally do tip a lot but definitely not here. Just give them average or minimal tip because I never received any type of service in the first place. Parking is free at their private lot when valet is unavailable. They do offer valet during lunch AND dinner.

Shabu Shabu … boiling water with thinly sliced meats and veggies. I’ve mainly only tried the Japanese version of shabu shabu and love it! But I know in my own culture(Thai) we have something very similar called Suki, which is almost identical except instead of a ponzu or goma sauce we dip it in a Suki sauce which of course is spicier! And I am sure that all around the Asian cultures they have their own version of a hot pot. However, this was my first time experience Korean Shabu! It’s slightly different and so delicious. I’d have to say, I’m hooked. First off, when you do arrive to this little place, parking is in the back corner, valet parking only for a few bucks. Then you go through the back and through the restaurant till you get to the front. We didn’t have to wait too long, but we did get there early, around 5pm on a Saturday. Once seated, the menu is simple, plus there is a wall of instructions of how to order and eat. The portions are very large, so we ordered the beef for 3 people, even though there were 4 of us eating, it was still filling. It all started off a lot like Japanese shabu, with the sliced beef and a huge plate of chopped veggies. Once you are almost done with your meats, they come by with a bowl of udon noodles to cook in your hot put. And then once done with the noodles, they come by and add rice, egg, and nori to the pot… plus some sort of sauce/seasoning which came out to a porridge consistency. This was my most favorite part of the meal. The rice was so yummy … I guess you really do save the best for last. So definitely I would love to come back here for that last rice dish alone! So good. Oh…and the pickled cucumbers they had out were so tasty, I pretty much had about 3 little plates of those alone that night.

This is not an AYCE shabbu shabbu place. You get three courses: 1. only one big plate of meat and veggies along with Course 2. udon noodles and Course 3. porridge. Along with banchan, small cup of salad and sweet rice drink for dessert to cleanse the palate. Served with corn husk flavored tea and if requested, ice water. Weekday prices: $ 24.99 Weekend and Holidays: $ 27.99 Parking: 2 hour metered street parking $ 2.00 valet parking(I think) Both my mom and I, we never had Korean Shabu Shabu and so today, I treated her :) She had saw Seoul Garden Restaurant advertise on the Asian channel, which showcased their plate of meat and so we finally decided to try it out. It’s three course meal of the following: Course 1. A huge plate of thinly sliced brisket meat(like the same one you cook at Korean BBQ) along with an assortment of shredded veggies, some tofu and two fish cakes and this black jelly on the side(it looks weird, but pretty good). The meat and veggies are bland, and served with a side of their house dipping sauce, which was pretty good. The meat plate comes out only on one dish. Been spoiled by Chinese AYCE shabby shabbu, Mom thought they would bring out the second plate of meat after we’re done with their first one, lol. um no… You eat the meat and veggies together. My Chinese Mom cooked the meat first, and the waitress quickly came over and showed us to cook the meat and veggies together, lol. Course 2. Udon noodles — served table side by the waiter. The udon noodles are thick and decent. It was a nice segue way away from the meats and veggies and while you eat the noodles, the waiter cooks Course 3… Course 3: my favorite — the porridge! Served with a bowl of rice, egg, shredded dried seaweed and sesame seed oil mixture. It was rich and creamy and a good way to end the shabbu shabbu meal. My mom cracked up at the thought that the shabbu shabbu water didn’t go to waste. At Chinese shabbu shabbu places, the water would have been considered dirty and thrown away, especially since you cooked the raw meat and veggies in it. Served with banchan and small cup of salad and corn husk flavored tea and you finish off the meal with sweet rice drink. Overall, it was a cool place to try out and experience Korean Shabu Shabu, but the Korean BBQ and tofu soups still reign supreme :)

First time writing a review, but long time customer of this restaurant. My first experience with Shabu Shabu was this place, and since then, have not found a better place. Service is quick once you get seated. Not a huge place but they do have rooms for larger groups. We had a group of 6-people and were seated in a private-type room. We ordered the regular«Jeen Ges Kahn»(think phonetics here) and it was fantastic as usual. Meat was fresh. Vegetables were fresh. Broth is what makes the meal, was great. After a total of 4-orders, we were done. The«juk» they make at the end was more than enough to fill any empty spaces in your stomach. Would highly recommend. We’ll definitely come back. Wish they had a location in the OC area. Enjoy!
