Scoops is my current favorite for ice cream in Los Angeles. It’s an incredibly well made churn. The dairy based flavors do not contain eggs and therefore produce a superior melt in comparison to the custardy melt you get with ice cream made with egg yolks. It’s more of an iceberg melt, with frozen chunks of ice cream surrounded by a moat of sweet delicious delight. The flavors are unique and ever changing other than brown bread flavor which is a staple. Don’t think for a minute that some of the flavors are gimmicky. These are well balanced flavors with the intention to open your culinary mind to new ideas, and oh do they succeed. It’s light yet luxurious, refreshing, and thoroughly satisfying. There are many good choices for ice cream in this city, but Scoops is simply the best!

We’ve been to other Scoops locations and this location didn’t seem to have as good of varieties of flavors. What we had was good, but nothing excitingly great.

Neighborhood ice cream spot with very unique flavors. First of all, look for the Donut Friend and you’ll find it since the signage for Scoops is nonexistent. I got one scoop of the brown bread which I hear is the one constant flavor. We came on a Sunday and they were opened although their signage inside says they are not open on Sunday’s. Glad they were opened so I could have this very tasty treat! They only had a limited flavors only half of the counter had flavors to choose from. They charge a $ 1.00 if you taste 6+ flavors without buying. They only take cash so be prepared. There’s metered parking and a parking lot on the side street.

My all time favorite ice cream shop! So why do I love this place so much? Well if you must ask… it is because they have one of a kind flavors everyday and if you miss it, too bad. you may never have to opportunity to try it again. Who would have ever thought of rhubarb with ginger ice cream? Scoops. What about almond kahula? Scoops… Honey earl gray? Scoops… starting to get the pattern here? If you’re indecisive like myself. I’d suggest you close your eyes and point. because I’ve never had a bad flavor. They do have the brown bread ice cream that is served on a daily and is a very safe choice if it’s your first time here. Unfortunately for this location, I believe they charge you a dollar if you sample more than 6 ice creams. Price: $ 2.50 for the kids scoop or $ 3.50 for the regular scoop of 2 flavors. Tips: Parking is absolutely ridiculous. Best of luck to ya. If you’re lucky, you’ll find a metered parking spot around back or even street parking several blocks away. Service: The server who welcomed my friend and I was very friendly and attentive. He gladly grabbed us samples and also filled our ice cream cups and cones to the max since it was almost closing time.

I work right across the plaza from the chinatown scoops location and shate a shake every day I work with my manager. It is the highlight of my day and the flavor combo choice is my biggest struggle. Today is my day off and I walked into my favorite location 2 days a week. I love scoops. My girlfriend adores scoops. We choose scoops over meals. We are currently going over every aspect of the shop that amazes us while im writing this. Scoops you are perfect. Today we got 2 pints ½ blackberry jasmine(perfectly the kind of floral i want in my mouth while not cloying) and on top ube sea salt burnt sugar(anything with burnt sugar as one of the components is a must from scoops, but for some reason these three together are just extta magical. You must get it) Our second pint was half coconut basil seed(their flawless iced creams texture now with the badassatry of basil seed and coconuts texture!) and to give a base to our whole experience and since my girl has never had it we got there forever flavor brown bread(freaking grapenuts cereal to the perfect milk saturation crunchiness love, a flavor i would never choose for my self but will now forever be in my heart) I have only one other time in my life been so enamored and in love with a shop that produces food, a sandwich truck in Austin that made the perfect reuben, and i’m a cook who day in day out deals with delicioisness foe money, but scoops is the only place in this town and possibly rhe world i can buy happiness. Thank you scoops highland park. I promise to bring you some phat thai soon.

First visit to Scoops and it was Sweet Goodness. The sun had peeked out in the afternoon and ice cream was on the agenda. Found metered street parking. Its squeezed between Town pizza & Donut Friend on York. Very basic shop w/cushioned benches on the side to enjoy your ice cream. Note: CASH only &NO bathrooms. Friendly Service. Unique flavors. I tried a sample of the Brown Bread and Lemon Cheese Cake Burnt Sugar. Both were sweet, but I went with the Lemon Cheese Cake, because it had a slight tart taste that offset the sweetness. You can get a cup or a cone. Sat on the benches at first, but then decided to stroll York. I’ll have to go back and get a scoop of the Brown Bread.

So yummy they don’t even need a sign on their building or decorations in their store… People will still swing by for some delicious SCOOPS of ice cream goodness! Important stuff: — There really is no sign on their building or on their windows… lol you’d probably walk right by if you didn’t know — Located on York, right next door to Donut Friend(?)… donut something. — Cash only — Kids scoop = 1 scoop/flavor($ 2.50), Single scoop = 2 scoops/flavors($ 3.50) lols — Great, friendly service! Just stopped by yesterday. for the record… Unilocal/Apple directions were a little wacko and told us to take all these turns… but just drive down York and it’ll be on York right before Ave 51. Yesterday we got 2 kids scoops, one with Salty Chocolate and one with Caramel Oreo! Both were super delicious. Plus, a kid scoops is more than enough for a little ice cream snack, however for the super ice cream lovers, definitely get the single scoop or double(I think they have a double scoop that comes with 3 flavors??) but yes, love this place, the unique flavors, and totally not overpriced like other trendy, overhyped places: X Scoops at all locations are just your friendly and delicious, neighborhood ice cream stores. Will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I have been trying new ice cream places this week and stumbled into this one on Sunday night. We got in 45 minutes before closing time and found that they were out of most of flavors. It wasn’t their fault, we just got there late. I can’t remember the flavors that we ordered, but I guess that is the reason for my 3 stars. None of the flavors stood out to me. I just remember one of them had pretzels in it and I was overwhelmed by the abundance of them. I stopped eating it all together. It didn’t really have a good consistency as it felt like it was melted and then put back in the freezer. I don’t know, I can’t explain it other than to say I wasn’t a big fan. Again, not their fault, it was just not to my liking. I like the area that it is in, I just HATED the parking situation. The worst! If you go there, but keep in mind that you will probably be circulating the area a few times before you find a parking spot. You may also find yourself driving right past it, since there is no sign outside.

Scoops isn’t a place where you go grab some ice cream and enjoy the ambiance. The location on Heliotrope is the exception. This shop is really sparse & when I went, there’s only one person working. On a hot day, the wait can get long because of the sampling. Even though you may have favorites, try the new flavors. I’m always pleasantly surprised when I try one that doesn’t sound appealing(like popcorn!). I’m a big fan of their Brown Bread so I usually grab a pint to go(they still gotta scoop it for you). There’s no signage but look for Donut Friend & it’s right next door. CASHONLY.

THEREISNOOUTDOORSIGNAGE! I drove past it three times… it’s right next door to Donut Friend(which DOES have a sign!). Parking was incredibly difficult on a Thursday night at 8:45 pm. Once inside, I surveyed the flavor choices, a few of which included: brown bread, pumpkin, green tea mint, almond saffron, butterscotch toffee & black currant clove. At any given time they have brown bread(always) plus seventeen other flavors. I thought it was amusing that they charge for excessive tasting. What dummy(dummies) caused this to become a necessity? If you’d like to try 6 – 11 tastes, it’s gonna cost you $ 1.00. For 12 – 18 tastes, it’ll set you back $ 2.00. There were so many interesting flavor combinations. I love artisan ice creams, sorbets and gelato. I chose black currant clove which was unique without being weird. It was super tasty and the kids’ scoop for $ 2.50 was the perfect after dinner size. One star off for lack of signage, lack of parking and limited hours, Mon-Sat, 2 – 9 pm– but otherwise, this is a place I’ll continue to go out of my way for…

I have had Scoops bookmarked for a long time, and I was excited to find out this location was just a few minutes away from where I was visiting. It’s a little ice cream shop, limited seating, and no public restroom use. They do not have a massive amount of flavors, but enough to have your choice. Everything I sampled was very good. Ice cream is creamy and the flavors are so profound, they really live up to their name. The service was great and workers are friendly, I will be back to try other flavors. There is metered parking on main and side streets, blink and you will miss the place.

This tiny spot has some of the best tasting ice cream. There aren’t many flavors to choose from, but the ones available are just what you need. They were thick and creamy, just the way I like. No icy quick-melting cheap stuff here. A few of my favorites were salty caramel, pecan pie, the brown bread, and roasted rice burnt sugar. The last was theeeeeeee best! If you love caramel corn, you’ll be in for a fantastic treat!

I’m just enamored with Scoops. You just don’t forget your first relationship with ice cream, ya know? Found this Scoops on the way towards home(yes!). Bigger then the other location I’m use to, this place has a decent amount of seating along the walls. It is really a take your ice cream and go type of place. *Blueberry lavender — very light taste. both the blueberry and the lavender compliment each other well, without overpowering the other flavor. *Passionfruit kiwi — so refreshing! Probably my favorite out of all I tried. I’m happy it had a creamy consistency and it didn’t taste like a sorbet. *honey mascarpone toffee — I was more excited about this flavor when I sampled it, but found I was craving the passionfruit kiwi a bit more. On my cone this tasted like chocolate toffee with vanilla ice cream. Service was really nice and they offered up some recommendations as to what flavors would go good together. Parking is street only. Metered. Save yourself some $ and park in the neighborhood side streets. Cash only!

Scoops is great! Love their variety of flavors – both of the fruity and rich variety. Cash only! Closes at 9 on weekdays which is a bummer… But I think their portion sizes are larger than average for the price. When I was there on a weekday night the man working behind the counter was super kind — he gave my two friends and me free ice creammmm: D Now that’s how you get customers to return ;)

Finally got to try Scoops! What a cute little place! Setting: The shop is quite small with just a counter, a display of ice creams and a bench that runs along the perimeter of the store. When you walk in, the first thing you see is a large black chalkboard that has all the information you need about Scoops from their hours(closed on Sundays!), to prices, to scoops, to social media to payment type(CASHONLY). Then you see the delicious ice creams on display. It is a bit echo-y in the shop so it does get quite loud when everyone starts talking. Ice cream: There were so many unique flavors and can be served in a cup or cone. They change them up all the time but when I went tonight they had these flavors: black sesame, brown bread, mango poppy seed, almond apricot, chocolate malt, strawberry passionfruit, rosemary pinenut, almond mocha, maple banana choco chip, cinnamon brown sugar and many more that I cannot remember. My eyes lit up like a little kid as I saw the different types of flavors and colors they had. The lady that served us was super friendly and energetic even though I’m sure she was exhausted from serving 262925252 scoops of ice cream that day. You can try as many samples as you like and she was super cool about it. Although, I did read on the blackboard that I guess after you’ve had 5 samples, the 6th to 11th ones will cost $ 1 each(?) and the 12th to 18th sample is $ 2. But I didn’t run to any of those troubles. I am that person that will try every flavor if I could since there are so many flavors to choose from. I’m so glad she was friendly about it because I know there are places that limit how many samples you can get which ruins the experience for me. Let me just say, all of them are absolutely delicious. Eventually I got the strawberry passionfruit which was SOGOOD and refreshing! You can tell that was a popular one since there was barely any left in the container. Cinnamon brown sugar and rosemary pinenut was a close second and third for me. I will definitely come back to get the other flavors or try the new ones the next time I go. Price: The prices here are pretty reasonable. One scoop is $ 2.50, two scoops is $ 3.50, a pint to go is $ 7.00. Parking: Street parking if you’re lucky or there is also a parking lot on Ave 51 which is free after 9pm. I’m not sure how much it cost since when we went to pay for our spot, someone was nice enough to pay for it already since they paid for a whole day. Yay! Thank you kind person.

I found Scoops very easily. Maybe it’s better that don’t have a sign posted outside. Keeps the crowds away, and allows easier access for the ice cream aficionado’s. Red Velvet– This flavor was outstanding! There were small pieces of Red Velvet Cake embedded inside the Ice Cream. I don’t know how they kept the cake so soft and moist! Blue Berry Lavender– You can really taste the lavender. I’m not a big fan of this flavor. I kept thinking about my lavender hand soap. I loved the very reasonable prices. It was $ 3.25 for a single scoop. You really get 2 flavor choices, which is 2 scoops for the price of a single. Service-Excellent. The person was very friendly and cordial. Parking-Street parking only.
