Decent. I’ve had the Caprese Supreme($ 11) & The Vegetarian($ 10). The veggie sandwich was much more flavorful – pepper jack cheese, alfalfa sprouts, avocado spread, mesclun, tomato & russian dressing on ciabattina. The cheese is the best part of both of these sandwiches. I don’t like the atmosphere. It’s too fancy-feeling for what they serve… a little uncomfortable.

This place will discriminate against you and pretend they are out of good cheese if they think you don’t know about cheese :) don’t support this business

I’ve been here twice and want to love it, but had some mediocre experiences with their service. On my first visit, I planned to buy some cheese but was really charmed by the store so I decided to look around. I guess they staff working at the time don’t like customers who don’t look like they wanna get down to business with their cheese purchases because the man behind the counter kept REPEATEDLY telling me with no smile whatsoever: he’s there if I had questions, would I need help selecting my cheeses, and he has a lot of recommendations if I want to take a minute and hear them. I mean… I’m all for eager and helpful employees, but sometimes you need to let your customers breathe a bit. I bought my burrata in a hurry. During my next visit, I asked the only guy behind the counter if he had a double or triple crème Brie he’d like to recommend. This guy wasn’t so chatty and said he wasn’t sure. Hmm. Cute store, awesome selection, inconsistent service.

The people at say cheese are awesome they really know there cheese and charcuterie… It is a little expensive but when you feel that you would like to splurge a little this is the place to go to get the good stuff

Cheese at its peak. No guessing the ripeness through plastic wrap and packaging here. Liberal samples. Previously unknown varieties and not an eyebrow is raised when I say, «no, that third blue cheese still isn’t quite what I had in mind for my party. Yes, I’ll try another.» Did I mention calm? Unfluttered, unruffled. Glen and his staff are supremely good at taking care of your requests and not making a big deal about it.

Went back to say cheese for more Christmas gifts and was not disappointed! The attention to detail, service and selection is excellent. I cannot stop in without getting some wine and cheese for myself and the Mrs and love how knowledge the staff is.

The owner is very rude. I took my business to The Cheese Store of Silver Lake after being admonished by him for calling him out on poor customer service. I wasn’t going to bother with a review but upon seeing many other people have had similar experiences, I think it’s worth it to express my disappointment.

Great selection of goodies !! Nice staff, too. They were really helpful. My husband and I went for the first time and we loved it. We had the Bordeaux and the Rioja wine and they were good. We are definitely going back!

After passing by this café so many times, I finally tried one of their sandwiches — Le Parisien. A-mazing Definitely going back to try the others in their menu.

I say«cheese» and«thank you» I love cheese. Always have. Always will. This small cheese offers some delicious cheeses, olives, meats, crackers, jams, jellies, chocolates, wine and anything else that goes great with queso ;) They have a café as well so you can order some great teas and coffee drinks. My chai latte was sweet and delicious. But the star of the show was the Parisian sandwich. Got it on baguette instead of a croissant and it was the best ham and cheese EVER. Toasted bread, toasted ham, capers, tomatoes, and the most perfect melted cheese. It was so gooey almost like a spread. Wow. Still thinking about it. The side salad with just greens, balsamic reduction, and Parmesan was subtle and perfect as well. No frills. Just really good ingredients. This review was meant to be cheesy.

Ordered a California melt, and it was really good. I’m not a huge fan of sandwiches, and usually leave places feeling unsatisfied but this hit the spot. Cheese selection is awesome, although I didn’t buy anything. Iced tea was good. The charge for splitting a sandwich seems a bit ridiculous, especially when it was already overpriced. I will be back

I dropped by this place to pick up some light lunch. It was almost impossible to find street parking near by, so I parked at Gelson’s(I am so sorry…) and walked across to this smallish place. I got Mariposa(salad: $ 11.9), Almost Vegan(sandwich: $ 9.50)) and a piece of chocolate($ 3.99) by a local chocolatier. Then, I hurried home to eat the food. The salad was plentiful and had 4 prosciutto-wrapped pears and tons of blue cheese on top. I absolutely loved the dressing it came with. The sandwich was pretty big and filled with lots of veggies(LOVE eggplants) and also came with a side salad. The guys at the deli counter were courteous. It was fun to check out their cheeses and wines while I waited for my food. I’ll be back for brunch with my boyfriend for sure!

Not only is the food at say cheese incredible but so was the ambiance and customer service! I ordered a vegetarian sandwich which came with a delicious side salad, one of my daughters had a tuna melt and the other a grilled cheese! The presentation of our food was spectacular, and when we took a bite of our sandwiches we were even more impressed! We also had black truffle potato chips which were uniquely delicious. The dark chocolate espresso beans was an excellent dessert choice. They also sell cheese, wine, olive oils, etc. it’s the cutest place in silver lake.

An adorable little place to meet in Silver Lake. I really had no idea this existed and now that I know… I’m really sort of glad it isn’t in my neighborhood because I fear I would spend entirely too much time and money here! I have made no secret of my absolute love of all things *cheese*, so this place speaks to me. I was there for a coffee meeting, and the place was empty but friendly and smelled just delicious. I could see doing an entire cocktail party out of their small but well chosen selection of cheeses, crackers and other snack sized goodies. They also have a café menu of sandwiches and salads — everything sounded great — as you can imagine, tons of cheesy combinations. They also have a brunch menu and some very tasty looking pastry selections to go along with your morning coffee or espresso. If you’re having a meeting in Silver Lake, this is a quiet and comfortable option for the morning. And I’d absolutely come back in the afternoon for beloved cheese!

Okay sooooo: I ordered a California melt and added avocado. The Rosemary bread went really well with the cheese and red onions. It also comes with a side salad with is nice. Total was almost 15 dollars but this thing can last you two meals. I’d recommend! The have a really nice selection of cheeses. It’s on the pricey side, but you can always expect to pay good money for some good cheese. They also sell gourmet chocolates, wines, crackers, oils, and coffee. Great place to get gifts or to put a gift basket together for a foodie friend who has a taste for European lifestyle! Or buy it all for yourself, which is what I would totally do(picnic for one? YESPLEASE the more cheese I have to myself the better…) The employees were really nice too. They let you sample some of the cheeses. Fresh mozzarella had a special place in my heart, so I’m into any place that carries the high quality stuff! Parking in the area is like trying to be friends with an angry ex. So be prepared! They have a tiny back lot which will probably be full when you get there if the parking gods are not in your favor. But you should go anyways!

If you are in the mood for fresh, European style faire, you’ll find it at Say Cheese. The owner, Glen, knows all about not only cheese, but wine, caviar, you name it. Located on Hyperion in Silverlake, CA, I find it close to downtown and the valley areas. It is definitely worth my drive from the foothills.

Service 2.5 stars I wanted to like this place, but the staff didn’t seem to care too much about us early morning?!(8.30am) café customers. It was almost like we were disturbing a quiet, peaceful store opening. You get a much more enthusiastic welcome from another neighborhood café like Proof. That’s as far as the comparison goes because, unlike Proof, Say Cheese serves up its coffee and food in disposable paper cups and plates probably for its own convenience. The rosemary bread toast with jam $ 3.50 was good, although I’d like a choice of jam. The ham and guryere cheese croissant was good but at $ 7.25 a bit overpriced(unless served on fine china) and the earl grey tea was as expected. I’d like to like the place some more, but it failed my local café spot because of spotty service and presentation.

The Charlamange is the first(and only) sandwich I ever had here. It is an oven toasted sandwich with oven roasted turkey, melted swiss cheese, mesclun and cranberry relish on country wheat bread. It comes with a side salad of fresh mixed greens and the BEST balsamic dressing ever. My brother in law brought me this sandwich years ago to try and ever since I have been a huge fan. Being pregnant this has been one of my top cravings. The ingredients are always perfectly fresh and delicious. I finish the whole sandwich and salad every time and it leaves me perfectly satisfied every time. I never feel bad after, always just right. I cannot get enough of this sandwich!

I used to live walking distance to Say Cheese, and when I stopped in the other day, I realized how much I missed this place. Well, it could have been I was blinded by the orange. Yes, on the top shelf was this cheese I’ve also been missing. Orange like a ripe cantaloupe — could it be mimolette? Indeed, it was. The owner offered me a sample. Mimolette. The owner said he loved watching me savor that cheese… so uh, maybe it’s a good thing I don’t live walking distance any more. Love affair with an expensive forbidden cheese can’t end well. Anyhow, the parking is always crazy around here, located next to Trader Joe’s, or I’d «visit» more often. You have to be willing to just grin and bear the vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Think of the great selection of cheese. They sell duck fat, some fine wines and other fine gourmet items(fleur de sel, mustards, jam, serving trays.) It’s not cheap, but it’s a perfect place to pamper yourself, and the perfect pick up a gift for that foodie you love — hint, hint.

Wow, this place has gone massively downhill. The café used to be a great place for a cappuccino and a sandwich, a tiny little dining room with about 10 two-tops and a really nice waiter. Now it seems they’ve nixed the table service for order-at-the-counter. The man we ordered from seemed annoyed and hardly interested. When our sandwiches were ready he put them on the counter for us to grab. I saw another table of 3 waiting for their sandwiches, and the server called out to them«your sandwiches are ready,» several times before they heard him. He really could’ve just served them the sandwiches instead of telling them repeatedly that they were ready. Say Cheese used to feature my favorite caprese sandwich, ever. After eating it today, I can safely say I will never order a sandwich from there again. There were about three tiny, mealy, colorless slivers of tomato. The basil and cheese were fine but there was barely any balsamic to set off the mild flavor of the mozzarella. I was contemplating taking the second half home to fix it up to my standards. When we left I turned back to see if anyone would think to say«thanks!» or «have a nice day!» as we walked out the door. Nope. If you’re going to charge $ 12 for sandwich, the sandwich has to be great and so should the service. This place has neither going for it. Next time I get a craving I’m just going to Larchmont Wine and Cheese. Their caprese is $ 6 and AMAZING.
