I often eat out in the Westchester area and I happened to pass by Runa Jewels during lunch today. I just so happened to need a new battery for my watch and saw the sign in front of this establishment. Note: I normally get my watches repaired and batteries changed at a specialty shop about 3 doors down, but I decided to give this place a try because the shop looked kinda rustic. I walked into the store, and a lady with a wonderful Jamaican /South African accent greeted me, «HELLO! Thank you for coming in! How can I help you?». I was hooked at hello! The shop owner, Marie Omoruyi, asked how she could help me. I showed her my watch and told her I needed a new battery. She said in her cute little voice, «Nooo problem! Give me a minute or two!». Before she dissapeared, I asked her how much. She said, «$ 7 because this is a dress watch». *POOF* she was gone in the back of the store and in about 3 minutes, she was back! I handed Marie a $ 20 bill and she said, «$ 5.00 please». I said, ‘WHAT?! You said $ 7.00″. She responded with, «I like you(as a customer) and it was an easy job… no problem!». I told her that she needs to make a fair buck and I insisted she take $ 7 for the new battery. I made a new friend! :) Runa Jewels has been around for the last 10+ years. Marie sells all kinds of stuff — earrings, watches, bracelets, specialty beads, eyeglass holders, etc. She is a very down to earth lady with a HUGE heart! I explained to her that I normally go a few stores down to get my watches taken care of. Now, I have a new go-to place! Thanks, Marie!
