This is an upscale coffee shop that would segue perfectly into a Neiman Marcus store, given its nice finishes and lounge-y vibe. Looking like a high-end department store, it also seems to attract that type of clientele — when I went, it was mostly middle-aged women in nice clothes. So don’t come here expecting to work on a laptop, though it might work for a date. I got a cup of their higher-end Earl Grey tea($ 5) and it was good, but not worth the price. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t have any vegan baked goods or decent vegan food options, which is amazing in this day and age(especially in LA).

This little spot has a quirky concept: retro décor and vibe but with the latest and greatest coffees, teas, wines, and beers! My group of 4 friends had wine flights, and my friends also got caramel sea salt lattes. The wine flights had 4 wines that were all delicious and super smooth! I tasted my friend’s latte, and it was good but a tad too sweet for how I like my coffee. We also shared a charcuterie board that was yummy! The whole grain bread that came with it was packed with flavor and full of raisins, which added a nice juicy touch. The date spread and the cheese slices were phenomenal. Highly recommended! Overall, we had a nice experience at Rubies + Diamonds. The ambience was super chill; there were people studying/working on laptops at the small café tables, an informal interview taking place next to us, and some friends catching up! This is a nice casual spot to hang out or get some work done. Next time, I want to try their nitro coffee options!

After passing by this part of town, I was curious to see what Rubies+Diamonds had to offer. Obviously not a jewelry store, nor did it have anything to do with Balanchine’s Jewels(minus emeralds), I realized this was just another fancy coffee place in the area. Worth trying. Reading through some of the reviews, I knew the white chocolate lavender scone and Rose Vanilla Latte would be something I would have to try. By the time I arrived, they were out of those scones, so instead of finding an alternative, I would stay content with just my beverage. Recently elsewhere, I had tried a hot tea with a mixture of flavors, including rose. I have to say I prefer the taste of rose in a tea instead of a coffee-based drink. It wasn’t bad by any means but I guess the flavor didn’t please me as much when paired with soy milk. The one word I can use most to describe this is ‘unique’. I would like to try that white chocolate lavender scone they were sold out of, and I don’t even really like scones. The décor in this place is quite lovely, I really admired the golden ‘light installation’(I was told not to call it a chandelier) that was immediately to the right-and above-after you enter. Metered parking outside, and I believe they validate for an hour and a ½ if you enter the garage off of El Centro.

HOLYSHITYOUGUYS. I’m not vegan, but their coconut cream is off the chaaaaaiiinnnn the coconut cream sea salt latte OMG Omg you guys. It was so good. The place is pretty bougie. But I mean it’s called rubies and diamonds! More expensive la coffee but you gotta admit la coffee is where it’s at. Interior is cute. They got fancy chairs. Scones are not sweet — I like them that way but if u are expecting sweet make your coffee sweet instead. They got a parking lot in the back. Their coffee and drink list is impressive! Will def be coming back to try EVERYTHING.

Im actually obsessed with Rubies + Diamonds. I make it my weekend treat because it’s not on my way to work, and my favorite drink probably has a lot of calories. But I look forward to the coconut sea salt cold brew all week long It doesn’t hurt that I’m obsessed with gemstones and jewelry and that R + D is named after some of my favorite things. And that the logo is a diamond. When I first came here, I thought the vibe would be very snooty and that the drinks would be overrated. Why? The interior is so damn fancy. But hoo boy was I wrong. So far, I’ve had a nitro matcha, a plain cold brew with nothing in it, and a coconut sea salt cold brew. Each one of those drinks has absolutely blown my mind. How do they make their drinks so smooth and creamy? I read somewhere online they have some super expensive, fancy equipment. But damn! I’ve never had such heavenly cold brew coffee before. It’s not bitter at all. Furthermore, all the baristas I’ve met are so awesome and laid back, not what you’d expect from a fancy coffee place. They’ve put up with my stupid questions, welcomed me warmly, asked me about my lunch plans, and echoed my gushing enthusiasm about my favorite drink. One even suggested I get the coconut sea salt cold brew to freeze at home and enjoy as a slushie. Yes, this man is brilliant! They just make me so happy to be there. And can we just focus a moment on that drink? What kind of sorcery is a cold brew with sea salt and whatever coconut crack they add?! I’ve never had such a delicious coffee beverage in my life. Go here now!

We found this beautiful coffee shop/snack/wine/beer shop one night waiting for a table next door at Sugarfish. After enjoying a drink that night, been back many times! It’s a beautifully decorated place and has something for everyone. The only negative for me is the seating. It’s gorgeous, but not comfortable or functional. Try their chai latte. It’s delectable!

Summary: Good, clean spot for coffee with friends but the WIFI is slow PROS: — Clean and well decorated interior(chandeliers!) that seats roughly 25 or so — Outdoor seating for dozens(due to seating provided by the building) — Outlets — Clean and separate women’s and men’s restrooms CONS: — They have validated parking but it is only for 90 minutes and you still need to pay $ 3.50(90 minutes is $ 10.50 without validation). Otherwise it is metered parking. — UPDATE: 1 hour is free but the staff didn’t know/explain — Free WIFI but it is painfully slow(docking one star) Random fact: They opened in Dec 2015 according to an employee

I love coming to this place! It’s probably one of the most elegant indie coffee shops I’ve ever seen. It’s decked out in true Hollywood fashion from the mid Century modernesque seating to the glamorous art fixture that everyone seems to love taking pictures of. They serve coffees, teas and even beer and wine at this cool and hip joint. It’s located in the new Columbia Square building flanked by Sweetgreens and Sugarfish. I’ve imbibed on some coffee as well as espresso and both were very tasty and enjoyable. They have free WiFi and also sell some good pastries for snacking on such as some great looking scones as well as something a little more hearty like a roti for those who want a bigger meal. It’s a very comfortable vibe inside and great to just chill out while sipping on some beverages either alone or with friends. An hour free parking with validation can be had in the Columbia Square parking structure off El Centro or street parking is available too. I’ll be stopping in here whenever I can.

Rubies+Diamonds is a very appropriate name for this bougie café. If I had walked in at night, I would have a hard time distinguishing it from a glamorous lounge. They have pretty tables, generous seats, and a beautiful chandelier. To blur the distinction even further… they serve beer and wine! What the whaaat? Now, parking in Hollywood can be pretty unforgiving. Luckily, R+D has your back with fancy-schmancy valet parking for FREE! Yes, free for 1.5 hours with validation. You’re getting the royal treatment here. Plus when I asked for validation from a barista, he actually gave me validation! He told me I could do whatever I set my heart on: D On to the drinks. I ordered an ICEDMILKCOFFEEWITHSEASALT($ 4.50) as Katie B. recommended. It was nice, milky, and creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness. $ 4.50 for that was a little much though. Betty N. ordered a ROSEVANILLALATTE and I had a sip. This drink was not my style at all, unfortunately. It definitely tasted like rose petals, which was a con because they are pretty bitter. I would stick with the cold brew to be on the safe side! Oh, and a cool thing is that you can ask them to change the caffeine level of your drink. This is especially handy since it’s open from 7 am — 10 pm and different times of the day call for different amounts of liquid energy! I didn’t have any of the nibbles, but R+D has quite the variety of food to eat too. There are vegan and gluten-free options, and they all sounded yummy(and fancy). Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an elevated coffee date, or if you’re in the mood to feel like a celeb. I would not recommend R+D to someone trying to find a place to get coffee every day, because: 1. You really should stick around to hang out, and 2. It would get expensive. Lovely place to treat yoself. Drinks: 4, Service: 4, Environment: 5, Price: 2

I found this place completely by accident on the way to another eatery. The inside is very spacious and trendy but not pretentious. Lots of comfortable seating. I wish coffee shops back home would have more comfortable seating. The lady at the til was super friendly and sweet. They were playing a Whitney Houston cover, therefore, while waiting for my vanilla rose almond latte I started just dancing to Whitney to pre burn the calories. My to go cup came in a very hipster looking cup. Some pastries, mostly scones. Prices were reasonable even with the exchange.

This is where my love for lavender white chocolate scones began. R+D is such a fancy café compared to most but still amongst the chandelier, colorful walls, & pretty plates, there’s a humbling feel to it I really enjoyed. My best friend & I got two orders of their signature drink, Rose Vanilla latte(can come iced or hot!). Sweet smell, sweet tasting drink. PASTRIES: We paired our drinks with two pastries to share– Blueberry Myer Lemon & Lavender White Chocolate scones. We ate that Lavender White Chocolate scone crumbs and all because we didn’t expect it to be so good! The warm melting white chocolate chips & the sprinkles of lavender on top was a solid combination of flavors that my tastebuds really appreciated. Our first time having that scone and we now ask for that everywhere we go! The blueberry lemon scone wasn’t bad. It had the tartness of the lemon & the sweetness of the blueberry. The drizzle glaze on top added an extra hint of sweetness as well. But it really stood no chance next to the Lavender! Missed out on the kimchi spam croissant! They literally sold the last one not too long before we got there. BUT what better reason to come back? One thing apart from all the praise, they were slow at bussing the bar area where we sat down so the used plates/coffee cups were there for some time.(They did clean it up eventually though when they came to check on how we were doing!) Not a jewelry store but definitely just as shiny & pretty as one. Catch you again soon, R+D!

Rubies+Diamonds is a café that really claims a niche of it’s own. Situated right on Sunset and within walking distance of the Palladium, it fits right into the glitz and glamour vibe of West Hollywood. While these days we more-often than not see organic, warm, handlebar mustache hipster cafes popping up left and right; R+D introduces a more classy and edgier style of ambiance, you almost feel as if you would need to pay a cover charge to enter, which is a good thing and much needed in current coffee scene(fun and new). R+D has plenty of existing innovative ideas to offer, and are on top of the technological game. You can tell just by peeking over the counter and seeing the nitro and infusion stations. I was quite intrigued by the nitro flight where various flavors of nitro teas and coffees were offered. Nitrogen infused beverages contain smaller micro bubbles which allow for sparking style drinks to be smooth and inviting to the lips. They also have a variety of good beers on tap!(always a plus) How is R+D’s coffee game? Quite solid and they seem to be working out kinks and trying to perfect their drinks. I’ve enjoyed getting wired by the robusta before making my way down Sunset to start a nightly adventure. It seems they are still working on their food and latte(art) game but It’s okay because R+D genuinely cares about the customer’s opinion. You can tell with every little attention to detail, down to the chic cups(even the cup sleeves are on point) and extravagant art pieces(some may find it pretentious but I feel it fits the scene and location quite well). I personally love the staff and wouldn’t mind just popping in to say hi to the kind folks that work here. Well done Rubies and Diamonds, although you may still be improving, you guys are the start of something potentially great. ________________________ RUBIES + DIAMONDS: 1−−−−−2−−−−−−3−−−−−−4−−−−−5 | — — ± — –± — –+x — –|: Coffee Quality/Consistency | — — ± — -x± — –± — –|: Art/Presentation | — — ± — –± — — ±-x – |: Service/Baristas | — — ± — –± — -x± — –|: Ambiance/Seating | — — ± — –+x — –± — –|: Food/Menu Variety Q _________________________ Fun tidbits: After hearing that the coffee may be too acidic, I actually tested the pH levels in the water and several coffees. R+D coffee falls into the standard deviation(between 4 and 5). Yes, I take the coffee game that seriously.(Mad scientist cackle). But really, we don’t want anyone with a sensitive stomach not be able to enjoy a good cup! A good time to stop by is when there are raves etc at the Palladium. Optimal people watching time, enjoy the show. – Thank you for joining me on another coffee quest, til’ next time, stay wired.(:

This coffee/tea place was beautiful. As you walk in, there’s pretty chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and comfy lounge seats. It looked more like a lounge than a coffee shop. I ordered the rose vanilla latte and a green tea and white chocolate scone. The cashier was super helpful as we were deciding what to order and gave us sample of their nitro brews. I’m not a huge fan of nitro brews, but if you are, then this is definitely you’re spot. My rose vanilla sounded amazing but the taste wasn’t there. I couldn’t taste vanilla or rose in my latte. However, it did come out in a very cute cup. My scone on the other hand, was amazing! I loved every little bite of it, and the flavor was on point. I think I’ll be back to try another one of their specialty drinks and give you guys an update.

Beautiful shop. The look and décor is great. They spent alot of money to make this place look amazing. So much FINE detail. Great artwork on the walls. Even the packaging to their coffee is gorgeous. Not sure if they roast their own or have someone else package a special blend for them but the bags are gorgeous. Even their website has a «fine jewelry» look with the tiffanyesque colors. A little too plastic for me though. the shirt they wear the black shirt with the mantra makes me feel detached from the enjoyment of coffee especially with the printed tag they put on each to-go cup that states your order. It may mean this coffee shop is not for me. I don’t feel the artisan style coffee. «Person wearing shirt is a preparation virtuoso…»(On their T Shirts) This gave me the feeling of the film 1984 except with sterile clean look. Even the wording from the«baristas/cashiers» seemed practiced and fake. My latte was burned. The milk was nice and silky but the espresso was burned and bitter. I asked for something off the menu such as a breve cortado but since the cashier had trouble in that she did not know what that was i went for the standard latte. This place is trying too hard but not hitting the mark. I would suggest the barista get some training. There are plenty of shops out there where i can get a coffee that is not burned. The artwork on the cup for some reason does not fit the motif of the rest of the shop. But thats just an opinion as is the rest of this review except for the burned coffee. It was burned. In due time i hope they get better. I read up after researching them that january was their soft opening. I must say the price for the latte is GREAT! it won’t cost you an arm and a leg as soon as they learn their craft of pulling shots. The latte was $ 3 something.

I loved how pretty this coffee shop was with all the rose gold and chandeliers. All the things I like. The coffee and nitro drinks are good and come in unique glasses and they also had the best matcha scone. Anything green tea flavored I always get and the fact that it was a scone made it even better. It’s also right next to sweetgreen. Perfect place to go after hiking Griffith for us.

This is the first five-star rating I’ve given in a while, and it’s well deserved. Rubies+Diamonds is run exactly the way a place should be run. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Wien I arrived, I was warmly greeted and I was asked if I’d ever been there before. I said no, so I was given the rundown on what they have to offer. I really appreciated that they took the time to tell me, and even offer samples. Gotta’ love it. I tried one of their nitro infused teas, peppermint patty to be exact. It was very pleasant. Can’t say I’ve ever had one before, but now I can! My friend ordered a coffee drink that wasn’t even on the menu. No problemo, and he said it was really good. They have all kinds of coffee and tea, as well as some food items. During the week they have a wider selection of food the guy behind the counter said. Also, they have beer and wine and even some nitrogen infused teas on tap! It has a funky vibe and plenty of seating. I also love the music they play. It’s sets a good tone and it’s at just the right volume. They have valet parking from the lot across the street at the northeast corner of Gower and Sunset, and also under the building itself. The entrance is on El Centro, just north of Sunset. I suggest that one. The validation is for 1 ½ hours. The prices aren’t bad for what you get. I’m really glad to give them the five-star rating.

One of my favorite coffee spots in LA! The interior is so cute and the workers are very knowledgeable about their menu. They offer so much more than the average coffeehouse. They even have a unique nitro brewing method for their coffee, teas, AND water. This was all a little overwhelming at first, but the workers are always happy to let you sample things. My favorite things to order here are their sea salt caramel latte(not as sweet as it sounds) and their kimchi and spam croissant. Cherry on top: next to Sweetgreen and Sugarfish+ free valet with validation if you enter on El Centro!
