Royce Bar occupies UCLA’s Royce Hall’s West Lobby with plenty of seating within or outdoors on the adjacent Terrace, either one a fine fashion and/or people-perusing venue. Grab a pre-performance bite, libation. Bruin Insiders privy to $ 5 draft beer or $ 1 off any wine. Non-Bruins pay captive audience prices which in the big scheme of things, is just part of the arts’ experience if you’re hungry, thirsty and can afford it. Our tab, minus tip, was $ 13 for a chardonnay, generous pour and a bottled sparkling water. Barkeeps are young, charming, efficient and don’t get to experience events(I asked) unless it’s orchestral offerings wafting at audible volume within the hall.

UnilocalINSIDERTIPFROMDOREEN(AKAAZNPERSUASION): Hang out on the large outdoor balcony even if you don’t buy anything. ***** Sandwiches are about 3 or 4 inches and cost about $ 8. They have chix, roast beef, or a veggie option. They have cookies, chips, and beverages. You must consume everything before going in to the show. It is EXPENSIVE. A lunch size snack bag of pretzels like you get in a vending machine is $ 3. Bottled water is $ 4. Eat before you come here.
