Stumbled upon this family owned Russian/Armenian place and got the best hinkali! Wish we had anything like that in SF, but I guess this is what LA is for. Portion was huge and hinkaliki were so juicy. Our waiter Pro Dj was very nice and attentive and told us they just bought this place and going to completely renovate it. Looking forward to coming back here.

The best traditional Russian/Armenian cuisine that you can find anywhere in Los Angeles! Their food is authentically delicious. Love this place!

Good food & service! $ 17 for the Chicken Shish Kabob entrée that came with hummus, roasted veggie & rice. Delicious and will go back again!(Don’t let the restaurant emptiness turn you around!)

I will keep this short and blunt. The food was plain and overpriced. The best part was the bread and water with lemon, although even the bread was average at best. I would not come back here again even for a free meal. Blah!

My wife and I had been stuck in traffic and missed a movie we had planned to see. We stopped in to Roubo’s Place because we had never tried Armenian/Russian cuisine before. It was the highlight of our night for sure. I left in a great mood. The food was wonderful and the owners were very nice. I definitely recommend it. By the way, it has parking in front, which is a benefit in the Highland and Hollywood area.

Stop looking… this place has the greatest Armenian and Russian food in Hollywood. It’s small, inexpensive and 20 feet from Hollywood Walk of Fame… I have eaten here probably 20 times and I have never had a bad meal… great kebabs… wonderful breads and friendly owner! I can sum this up in one word . YUM!

I’m a huge fan of the amazing ramen place tucked away in the same seedy plaza on the corner of Hollywood and La Brea, so my only experience of Roubo’s until tonight has been fighting the other patrons of the plaza for parking and dodging the lascivious glances of the potbellied taxi drivers posted up outside the place. I never even knew there WAS an inside until tonight. Being that Russian food is the norm at my family dinners, it’s not what I would normally pay for. After all, I can just go to my mother’s house not a mile away to get my fill of pickled veggies and red, gooey soup. However, as the temperature has suddenly dropped to a bone-chilling cold and I found myself lonely and experiencing the worst type of munchies(the reason for which my mother would surely disapprove), I decided to brave the tiny parking lot for some homecooked Russian takeout. I wasn’t expecting much. After calling and placing my order(julienne, beef stroganoff and cherry blintzes) with the expected accented voice on the other end of the line, I drove the block from my house to Ruobo’s. In the parking lot, the Tetris game of cars was over quickly enough and I slowly entered the place, longingly eyeing my favorite ramen spot just two doors away, feeling almost guilty for cheating on them. I opened the door and was pleasantly surprised. Roubo’s is not just a counter — it’s actually a small, warm, calmly decorated room devoid of all the obnoxiousness usually present in Russian/Armenian establishments. I made a mental note to come here with a small group of friends and a bottle of vodka in my purse next time it’s cold and I’m a little *lifted.*(I’m not sure about their alcohol policy, but I’m guessing they don’t have a license and it’s a BYOB place — just a guess though, based on my knowledge of such places). My order was ready. The prices were actually reasonable and on par with similar establishments. I left a good tip because I didn’t want to stand around waiting for change, since there was a table of people who looked like they would know my parents studying me with curiosity in the corner. Once home, I opened up my loot, pleasantly surprised that the food was actually quite good. Freshly made, well-seasoned and not choking in butter and oil like a lot of Russian fare. The stroganoff, like the other entrees, comes with a bit of pickled veggie salad, hummus, lavash and a good portion of mashed potatoes. There was definitely enough food for two, as there were 4 small cups of julienne and three large cherry blintzes with a pleasant dipping sauce. All in all, for what it is — which is a hole-in-the-wall in a small corner plaza — I couldn’t have really asked for more. The only problem is the cramped parking lot, but considering I live a block away, perhaps next time I should just indulge in intoxication after I get home and actually walk over there rather than driving. Now there are two great places to frequent in that plaza, and I will certainly be returning for the food, if not for the regular Praetorian Guard of Armenian taxi drivers blocking the entrance with their bellies. This is a good spot to introduce your non-Russian friends to Russian food without the intensity of a Russian nightclub(or even worse, your family birthday dinner!) If you want a clean, well-priced, delicious foray into soviet cuisine without the usual hammers and sickles, in the neighborhood, this is your place!

Stopped in for my second time for lunch. Wish I had remembered this place, and come here more often, over the years of working in West Hollywood. Lunch special prices are very good, and the quantity of food is crazy. Nice big entrée, along with a basket with a freshly baked small loaf of bread, the whole loaf. Everything has such robust and complex flavors. The borscht is also quite delicious. I would highly recommend this place to people in the area.

Went with a group of about 12, mostly people with no experience with Russian food. Some in the party would never have had any foreign food if not Mexican or Chinese. Everything was delicious, to my surprise. I had pretty much consigned Russian food to piroshki, which are not at all tasty IMO. Dry, thick of dough and filled with plain meat with no spices. Not a piroshki in the place. Stroganoffs, delicious dumplings, lamb kabob, excellent side dishes and everyone was happy with their food. To be recommended for sure, and if it weren’t a 40 mile drive I’d say we’ll be back soon.

This is a cozy Russian /Armenian restaurant. We had the Beef stroganoff, Chicken stroganoff, Greek salad, Lamb chop and Chicken shish kabob. Absolutely everything including the bread was fantastic! The bread is homemade and again fantastic! Irina was a fantastic host server!

It’s ok. Food is OK but didn’t like how tables are covered with nylon throws and using paper clippers to hold the throws on the tables.

Robert is an awesome amazing person and this place gets 100 stars from me. I held an event for inner-city kids to learn table manners. Let me back track, it was a full day of events for the kids and the grand finally was at this restaurant for an etiquette dinner. Roubo’s was so gracious. They were friendly with their time, the space, the food, the dessert, the waitress, they were just so accommodating. We brought in about 18 kids and about 10 adults. We ordered the borsch soup, chicken or beef plates and some bomb desserts. The kids loved the food, as for most of them it was their first time. I have been here before and the food is excellent. The food was great, the service was great and just the customer service for planning our event was awesome. I gotta tell you I was worried about finding a place that was ok with us pretty much taking over their restaurant, even though it was for a good cause. I LOVETHIS place and their kindness will always mean so much to me!

Ever feel like some simple Russian/Armenian comfort food even though you are not Russian… or Armenian? Whenever I am in Russia, NYC or LA I seem to get these cravings for homemade borscht, mashed potato, lamb and dumplings. But don’t fret… Roubo’s Place is… well… THEPLACE to go in LA/Hollywood to escpare from the rat race of tinsel town. I must warn you their strip mall parking lot is a challenge and if you can find nearby parking and walk to the restaurant, your effort will be rewarded as your experience will be that much more pleasant. Once you enter the metal screen door, you feel more like you’ve entered their living room than a restaurant, warmly and simply appointed dining room where you will most likely be greeted by a naturally beautiful young lady that either owns it, or part of the family. I mean to ask her her name, but the opportunity has thus far eluded me. Which in the chaos we call Hollywood just outside the door it is wonderful to find such refuge inside the quiet, comfortable place to have a heart and tummy warming meal in this obviously family run business. I have been here several times over the last few months and have never been disappointed by my selections or her recommendations. You are greeted at the table with a basket of fresh warm homemade bread and lavash «With a piece of bread in your hand you’ll find paradise under a pine tree» — Russian p …and for a brief moment in time I found paradise in a meal served by a somber beauty that filled my belly and allowing me to continue my day happier for it. The food is seasoned just right, cooked to my request and always made freshly. Nothing sitting under heat lamps or pre-cooked…which is where it adds additional credence to a home-cooked meal. If you are Russian, Armenian and in need of a home-cooked meal because you are homesick, the wife threw you out of the house for the evening, or want to bring the whole family… this is your place. Nothing too fancy, nothing too exotic… just fresh, nicely presented plates with food you’ll enjoy. They also have a wide range of imported beverages from several Slavic countries that will further trigger memories of the homeland. Enjoy! «Always be True to the Cuisine» — Chef Dom

Everything about this little place is great. The service is fast and friendly. The location is convenient. And the food is simply stellar! We usually get Lamb kabob and Spicy Kharcho(Russian soup), along with some marinated veggies. The hummus and the sauce for the meat are incredibly tasty. This is NOT one of those«quick kabob» type of places where you get grade F meat and don’t know if it came from a cow or a rat in the basement. This restaurant is 100% authentic, and beats any mainstream place such as Daphne’s or Olive Pit hands down! And for the amazing quality that you’re getting here, the prices are very reasonable. If you’re in the Hollywood area, stop by and try it out, you’ll love it.

Russian Armenian restaurant eh? Never heard of such a combo before. Plus, they have beef stroganoff, one of my all time favorite dishes of er. all time. So, I had to check it out. I took 3 other friends with me… 2 ordered chicken stroganoff, 1 ordered ox tail soup, and I ordered the beef stroganoff. I also like trying beverages from different countries and so they had 3 options: a herb like one that starts with a «t», Pear, and the one I tried called«Burratino.» I asked what that was and the response was«it’s pinocchio». OK. I’ll upload a picture of it. So everyone got their order and it started off strong. The rice is a 4 to me… buttery rice pilaf yum! Hummus was light, fresh, and flavorful. The beef … looked like chicken? I asked the waitress if it was. She said it was veal. Whaaaat??? Did I miss that on the menu? I don’t recall any mention of that so I need to double check but the item in the menu was bolded Beef Stroganoff but maybe the description said differently. Granted, veal is technically baby beef but I actually i’m not a fan of veal in general so that mattered to me. I would’ve given it two stars but everyone else enjoyed their dishes so I’m willing to go back and try it again … maybe the chicken stroganoff. I also like the fact that its unique menu items make it extra special. Oh, an the Burratino drink tasted like a sugary orangeish cream soda to me. I’ll probably just get a coke instead next time.

Aside from the fact that nearly everything on this lovely menu is some sure of Russian or Armenian, the service was by the most adorable girl who explained everything to us! My advice: don’t be turned off by the hole in the wall kind of restaurant-because everything about the food quality is too notch! Try everything-the Armenian latte is delicious, and the Russian korsh soup is also super delicious! It’s like a tomato soup… but with a flair! This is one place I will most definitely be coming back to to try everything!

I ordered the chicken kabob and felt it was on the fatty side. The flavor wasn’t bad but I can’t say it was great. My friend ordered the beef cutlet which was much better. It was ground beef rolled into a patty, coated with bread crumbs and deep fried. The rice and hummus were both good. Overall, it was good but I’ve had better.
