Ronnie’s Donuts

It should be called «Ronnie’s Fantastically Delicious Pastrami Sandwiches».
Friendly service, very small place with only a few little tables. I have no idea what their donuts taste like, but I will definitely be back for the pastrami sandwich.

I think most people come here because it’s a quick place for a bite before a show at the Pantages.
But it really is a decent place to eat! They’ve got a bunch of different sandwiches, hot dogs, pastries, donuts, and snacks. I had a turkey sandwich, chips, and a drink for less than $ 5! I loved my sandwich, which they make right in front of you. There’s a few add on options so I had mine dripping with delicious vinegar.
The ladies that work there are nice and speedy. I think this is a yummy option for for dinner before the show!

Not the best, but definitely a great deal and a good sandwich. Stopped by today before catching a play at Pantages and was pleasantly surprised by how cheap everything was. Sandwiches for between $ 1.99 — $ 3.99, and they pack a lot of veggies in which I liked, but they’re very light on the meat. It’s a very tiny shop, so don’t expect to find seating easily (especially right before a show), but it’s not so packed that you can’t comfortably eat. I’ll definitely be back again if I’m ever watching a show at Pantages. You save a LOT of money in comparison to theatre pricing, and I was actually pretty full!
Only major complaint was the woman at the register :/​probably tired from the busy Phantom rush, but she just seemed really unpleasant and unhappy with customers.

It’s legit! They have 8″ sub sandwiches for $ 1.99. Mmmmm mmmmm goooooood! House vinegar and house made hot sauce are off the chain.

Sandwiches were fine, I had the turkey on a croissant and hubby had a Reuben on a croissant (a strange combo, but they didn’t have rye). The location is excellent if you are going to the Pantages and want to grab a bite before the show. Service was very friendly. There are just a few tables, so it might get crowded before a show.
Note: there are no public bathrooms here, so you have to hold it until the theater opens — also CASH ONLY.

Glad we decided to ask one of the guys who worked at Pantages where to grab a bite before the show. If you’ve been to the Pantages theater then you already know that there’s no real food available to buy in there.
Ronnie’s donuts is literally 2 – 3 doors down from the theater. The guy who recommended us told us that this donut shop had some very good sandwiches. My boyfriend and I decided to each order a pastrami croissant, which tasted good but I don’t really agree with the way they make it haha. They just dump all the ingredients into the microwave in front of your face which makes me feel like for the price… some real cooking should be involved. The pastrami croissant was one of the more expensive things on the menu which was about $ 6 – 7, but you could easily grab another sandwich for about $ 2 – 3 dollars.
Beware of limited seating when there’s a show going on at Pantages! We literally sat down for 5 minutes and gargled down the sandwiches so other people could sit.
Overall, just an OK place in a very convenient location, but there really wasn’t a WOW factor.

If you’re feeling cheap and want something real quick before catching a show at the Pantages Theatre next door, this is the place to go.
Sandwiches are $ 1.99, but you pretty much get what you pay for. Don’t expect spectacular. I ordered a chicken salad sub and it was mediocre. I probably could’ve made better at home and I don’t even really know how to cook. The 2 ladies working behind the counter were quick and nice, and the tables were clean. That’s all I really needed.
I give this place 3 stars because of the cheap prices and convenience. Would I come back? Yes, but only if I’m feeling cheap again and/​or I’m running a bit late to a show.

I didn’t have much time before seeing RENT last Friday so I ducked into this donut shop for a quick bite. I saw a sign for sandwiches and it looked slightly less busy than the actual sandwich shop right next to the Pantages Theatre.
Woah, $ 1.99 sandwiches? What? How can it be that cheap? Well, it’s cash only and you don’t get much. You get one slice of over-​processed deli meat and cheese, cut in half and arranged artistically to hang over the sub. You can however, customize the order with your choice of mayo, mustard, onions, oil, vinegar, lettuce and tomato. It’s $ 1.10 for extra meat (and probably worth it!). And another additional charge for extra cheese.
Add a couple of bucks and you get a drink and an itty bitty bag of chips. I was fooled thinking I was going to get a decently sized bag but alas, it’s a «fun size.» I spent less than $ 5 on it all and was hungry within an hour.
Lighting is pretty horrible and there aren’t enough chairs and tables when it’s busy. However, it is clean. It wouldn’t be a bad place to grab a doughnut ($.75 each, buy two and get the third free) or even a slice of questionable cheesecake or carrot cake.
The couple of women running the place seemed friendly enough though.

Outside, right when you get off at the Hollywood and Vine stop, you see this place to the left of the Pantages. Everyone thinks, «Oh! How cute!» I’d been thinking that for a mighty long time, and today I finally stepped in.
Oh dear. It’s depressing inside, to say the least. They sell donuts and sandwiches. I wouldn’t bother getting a sub here… but, today I tried my first chocolate buttermilk donut, and let me say, I think I’ve found a god.

With their signs in the window for $ 2 Subs, curiosity finally got the better of me, and a friend and I popped by to grab a cup of coffee. Their location is great; Ronnie’s is just a few doors away from the Pantages and right across the street from the Hollywood/​Vine metro stop.
The place is so clearly a struggling little donut and sandwich shop, so it hurts to have to say anything negative. When we first walked in, the air smelled swampy. The staff was helpful, but the coffee fixins left much to be desired (though that’s usual for a donut place). Medium coffees were only 75 cents, though, so I guess that doesn’t warrant complaint at all. Their cooler seemed to be stocked with plenty of the usual Vitamin Waters and whatnot, and there were lots of places to sit.
I’d be interested to know what the sandwiches taste like for $ 2, but we weren’t hungry, and in a hurry to leave. The oppressive air quality inside had me jonesing for the crisp bus exhaust of Hollywood Blvd.
