Chicken & donuts, made in store. If you’re having a cheat day and can’t make it to Roscoe’s, Romero’s is a nice alternative. Inexpensive, private lot parking, tasty.

This is a unique establishment to say the least. Wildly diverse menu that they somehow manages to execute well. Donuts are definitely the bomb here! I chose the chocolate frosted and was impressed by the flavor! It wasn’t overly sweet and had a mild spice in the chocolate that added a refreshing dimension to this indulgence. They legit roast chicken right behind the counter. It looks clean and delicious and did not disappoint. Chicken was succulent and exactly what you’d want from a rotisserie. While their salsa is great, the rest of the Mexican food is just okay. But considering the price, no real complaints.

Romero’s Rotisserie Chicken !!! The best place to get freshly roasted chicken as well as a great variety of sides. I personally Love the veggie tacos that are garnished with fresh veggies. It is owner operated and the two brothers work 7 days a week to bring you this great food.

I lived in the neighborhood for years and never gave it a second look. The chicken was very very good and the service was quick and friendly. Will be going back often.

I would post pictures but I was so damn hungry, I couldn’t wait. Place is bomb, we had the Spanish breakfast(def get it) breakfast burrito, and pupusas. Owner is a cool dude, they play football on Sunday’s and you aren’t breaking the bank. I’ll be back soon

I’ve lived in the Virgil Village neighborhood for the past year and I’ve heard from my friends and neighbors that this is the place to go for great chicken. Today I finally tried it for the first time… Uh. Where have you been all my life, Romero’s? This chicken is so juicy and has tons of flavor! We just ordered three pieces, two wings and a thigh and we each got a pupusas and some chia lemonade. All of it was delicious and tasted so homemade and fresh. I’m going to be a regular here, in fact I might go back tonight for dinner!

I didn’t like it as much as the other reviewers at Unilocal did. I found the chicken to be too dry and bland. The plantains were vey good though.

alright folks heres the deal this place is the bomb dot com! i had 2 bean n cheese pupusas they were –excellent-. $ 4 for 2 comes with salvadorean slaw and some tomato sauce. my potna had the lunch special, $ 5.99 for 2 pieces of chicken w fried beans n rice and plantains. the beans n rice(aka casatiempo) were seasoned like hell n super tasty. the plantains were the best plantains either of us have ever had. so sweet so flavorful so robust. casatiempo also amazing. and the service??? wow. never had a friendlier experience. they asked if the food was good and they knew we would say yes, they are –very– confident in their food and for good reason. love them. hope this spot blows up they deserve the best. very glad to have them in my neighborhood.

We ordered 2 chicken tostadas, a chicken tamale, and a chicken quesadilla. The tostadas and quesadilla were awesome! Tamale was so-so. Price was very reasonable– all the above plus four sides and a cinnamon bun for just over $ 20. Try the plantains! They’d run out of chicken pieces by 2:00 pm, leaving only shredded, so that was disappointing, but this was on a Sunday(when they close at 4:30), so it’s better that they run out than have extra and it go to waste I guess. It was ~75° outside, but the AC wasn’t on, so it was pretty warm and stuffy inside. The interior space is pretty large though, so I’m sure it costs a lot to cool. The guy at the register was friendly. The food took 15 minutes to prepare, which seemed like a while in the heat, but we didn’t mind. At least we knew everything was made fresh.

We ordered a breakfast wrap, two pupusas and a bunch of donuts. I was expecting a more traditional breakfast burrito-type thing, but this one has lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes in it. We added ham, but there was only a tiny bit mixed in to the egg. Overall the flavor was pretty good and really fresh. Definitely needed a fork and knife– this thing is huge and the veggies make it so watery that it falls apart in your hands. The pupusas were decent– the sauces has excellent flavor. We got a cheese one and a «mix» one. The donuts are also just«decent». The apple fritter is moist but the others are a bit dry. I like S&Ks better. The guy at the front was SUPER friendly, but overall, everything was just«ok», hence 3 stars.

Have coming to this place for a long time. We don’t even mind the 40 minute drive it takes to get here. Their food is delicious and their service is always great too. They make fresh bread and it’s it’s a must have is your into pan dulce. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I rarely go out my way to post reviews but I love this place. I live within walking distance and my laundromat is right next door. I find myself in here way more often than necessary. The food is great and at dirt cheap prices. And Richard(the owner) is a super nice guy. Best deals: Lunch special. Two pieces of chicken and two sides for $ 5.99 Friday’s $ 0.99 tostadas(chicken or veggie)

Weird and awesome little place, with great service. THESTORE: A little cobbled together looking, but not in an unpleasant way. Service was incredibly friendly and generous. THEFOOD: Anything and everything available at all different times of day. We had donuts and a chicken burrito for breakfast. Donuts were great, but the chicken burrito was a little dry and the rice overcooked. OVERALL: I’d go back for the service, and try something other than the burritos.

Walked in at 5:30am, hungry and confused and hungry and hungry. This isn’t the traditional Mexican restuarant since they serve variation of Hispanic ethnic foods so don’t expect much. i wanted something light since hipster breakfast was what I was saving my stomach(s) for. The(el salvadorian style) chicken tamale was pretty delicious and flavorful, and one chicken taco was in between decent and good. both for 4.08 $ sounds like a good light brekkie for me but what made this place a 5 star was the service,(Romero?) offered me a quisadilla cake(el salvadorian style pastry) which is a cream cheese moist cake on the house since it was my first time. and it was the bomb! a lot of religious customers I’ve noticed, it tastes swell for the price, people are just too opinionated

I always like to find places that are off the beaten path and this place definitely fits the bill. I decided to eat here one weekend because I enjoy this type of cuisine AND the fact that they also sell donuts here which is one of my favorite weekend vices. I met a friend here for lunch and ordered the two piece chicken plate which came with two sides. I elected rice and beans as my sides and was served fairly quickly. I also ordered a fresca that had chia seeds in it which was totally off the wall but appreciated. I happen to be on a chia seed kick these days making drinks and pudding using this ingredient so I was mildly surprised they served it here. I liked the rotisserie chicken, it was moist and had a nice salty flavor. The sides weren’t bad either. It also came with a few tortillas and was a great value for the price.(4⁄5) The chia seed drink was refreshing and I’d order this again(5⁄5). The tamal was just okay. It thought it needed a little more seasoning.(3.5÷5) I then decided to try one of their donuts and ordered the Crumb donut as a dessert. It didn’t seem to be as fluffy and fresh as I’ve had at other places and I also noticed a slight greasy aftertaste when I finished eating it. I had shared half of it with my friend and she said she noticed the after taste too.(2.5÷5) Besides the donut, I enjoyed the rest of my meal. The patron of the establishment was friendly stopping by to say hello and seeing how we liked everything. They have limited free parking in their private lot otherwise street parking is also available. Given my overall experience, I would come back again if I were in this part of town to have more of the rotisserie chicken.

Aah Romeros. This place is dangerously good. Like you may hurt yourself if you go too often. The donuts were baked to perfection and the rotisserie chicken was delicious. Great spot for lunch. They have a good selection of specials. And a large amount of seating inside. Friendly staff was the icing on the cake. I will definitely be back. Oh if your around on tuesday, check out their taco tuesday special. $ 1.00 each

Picked up a Dinner #1 to go. For $ 15.02, it included a whole chicken, 6 tortillas, potato salad, cole slaw, and 3 spicy salsas. Flavors weren’t bad for the chicken and the salsa. Chicken wasn’t too salty and still meat was moist. Nothing special about the slaw or potato salad. Downside, they didn’t pack forks and napkins, and I found hair in the potato salad. Won’t be coming back or recommending Romeros to my friends.

I have mixed feelings about Romero’s. When you walk into a chicken restaurant, you don’t usually expect that there would also be donuts. But lo and behold, Romero’s not only had chicken meals to offer, but also a bunch of different types of donuts that looked pretty good. We didn’t stop by for the donuts — instead, we sat down and ate some of the chicken. Though it wasn’t the best chicken I’ve ever had, the flavor was good, the salsa was tangy and nice and the tortillas were decent. Since we were the last people at Romero’s, the manager(was he Romero?!) wished us a good night and handed us a bag full of donuts, all for free. It was a sweet gesture. However, a couple of hours after we got home, my stomach didn’t feel so hot. I didn’t get sick, but I felt a little woozy. The next day, I felt better enough to eat one of Romero’s donuts, and was pleasantly surprised. The donut, a typical glazed donut, was fluffy and not too sweet. It might have made up for my tummy ailments from the night before. I couldn’t give Romero’s anything less than three stars, since the manager there was very friendly and the food wasn’t terrible. I do, however, question just how sanitary the food is or perhaps how it was prepared.
