The food is great. But the service was terrible. The woman forgot my drink, rang somebody else first. And wasn’t very nice. I wanted to reorder more food since portions are small, but I couldn’t get her attention. It took forever to get my salsa. Practically threw it at me. This will be my last visit there, if I’m paying my hard earned money, I expect service.

The food did not have much flavor. The service was good. The beans and rice did not taste fresh. Surprisingly their horchata tasted way better than the one in the plaza stand. You would think that stand in the Plaza would be better because they have so many jars but nope, the plaza horchata stand tasted like packaged horchata, nasty. Anyway back to Rodolfo’s, it is okay food but would not recommend if you want some flavorful food. The waitress also didn’t validate the 10% off, Unilocal check in. She said that was not valid their and didn’t know what that was. I didn’t like that response but didn’t want to start a discussion. Yup, true story.

Good but not great. Small portions. I ordered the taquitos plate. The taquitos were not freshly made; they were frozen, pulled from a bag in the freezer. The sides: beans and shredded lettuce. There is a small eating area, but it is rather tight.

I came back after years of not visiting, only to find that this LA taco wonderland has adopted some crummy practices. First, the service left much to be desired in friendliness and even just politeness. Then our tacos arrived and the tomatoes were cut in slices instead of diced. This obviously gives you too much tomato per bite. We noticed that the beef tacos were not spilling with crunchy beef on the edges so we inspected further. Turns out, the tomato slices were significantly larger than the amount of shredded beef. I’m not exaggerating. It was about 1 flat tablespoon of beef. Tsk tsk. Three quarters of my husband’s drink was ice. Since temperatures were in the 90’s, I don’t appreciate them skimping on liquids. The potato tacos also disappointed, because like the rest of the food, they were not seasoned. It’s not dog food, just not delicious. Points for the improvement of their salsa and … Price? Yeah, that’s all.

Great Mexican food, the new owner Gina and her staff are supper friendly and the place is really clean. We even spotted a movie star David Arquette, will be definitely be going back.

I ordered the enchilada mojado or wet burrito with nopales. The nopales tasted like they may have been dumped out of a can. They were overly soggy, limp and slightly vinegar-y. Worst, It seemed that they tossed my burrito in the microwave to melt the cheese.

Pretty good! Great carnitas. Friendly and fast service. Small and intimate. Prices are fair for what you get. Not a fancy place, but authentic and delicious.

I’d give this place negative 5 stars if I could. This place was ridiculously overly price for the quality and quantity! And terribly nasty! I got the two taquitos and a cheese enchilada. The warm guacamole was biter as if it was sitting around in the sun, the taquitos where dry and the enchilada was just awful. It was more like a wet soggy tortilla wrapped around a skimpy amount of unmelted cheese. THECHEESEWASCOLDANDUNMELTED! What kind of enchilada is that?! Even the picture of their food was better looking than the real thing! The picture showed a cheese enchilada with melted cheese dripping out of it. After kindly asking for a new one(ps my dad and sister order the same thing and theirs was also cold cheese) the waitress seemed annoyed and gave me a new one. This was was honestly yummy… Melted cheese in a warm tortilla. Not to mention the waitress and cook where pretty rude. This place puts Mexican food to shame! A mediocre Mexican restaurant! NEVERGOINGBACK!

When I come to Olvera Street, this is the place where I go to eat lunch. They have good Mexican food at reasonable prices. The people who work here are nice. The service is quick and the place is clean. The last time I was their, I had enchiladas with rice and beans. It was very good.

This is the real deal! Mexican music playing on a transistor radio, rude waitress, old wooden tables… and the BEST carnitas I’ve ever had!!! Your choice of sodas is limited to three, no cerveza fria, and the waitress scowled at me when I asked for a cup of ice to go with my 7up… but it was great and I lived it! The tortillas were perfect and the meat came in chunks and was melt in your mouth! God bless holes in the wall with killer food!

I live in Pasadena and I hardly ever go to downtown los angeles. More specifically, here to Plazita Olivera. BUT, what I would expect is to find really good food here in this little place. I stopped by this Rodolfo’s restaurant and expected to somehow eat some close to «authentic» mexican food. NOT so. I ordered a sope and two cheese enchiladas. The sopes were LAME. The sopes look very disappointed right when you see them on your plate. They put guacamole on them, but the guacamole is not pure avocado but the CHEAP kind of artificial avocado. The carne asada didn’t have much flavor either, so I had to put salt on it myself. Let me say something. I have had some AWESOME and fantastic sopes from lunch trucks that stop by my work, with real sour cream and some fantastic cheese on top of the sope, with incredible flavor. The cheese these folks use here at Rodolfo’s is some kind of shredded cheese that doesn’t taste like anything. Worst of all, it doesn’t go on a sope. What can I say. Another disappointing mexican place. Can’t recommend it.

Very rude service !!! Paid for my food to go. When I got my food Mom decided to order food so I decided to open it took a bite then was going to buy a drink ! When I was ordering my drink getting ready to pay the old lady decided to make a comment why are you eating here didn’t you order it to go ?? She said it loud for every one to hear all rude and made me feel like I needed to leave. I didn’t even want my food anymore from the way I was treated. I payed for my food and the way she treated me was as if I stole it or something. Never goin here again

This is a great little restaurant at The famous Olvera street in downtown Los Angeles. They are family owned since Olvera street established there market place in 1930s or 1940s. I believe this restaurant is connected with another restaurant at the Olvera street marketplace El Rancho Grande I think that’s the name of there brother restaurant. Over all great food great prices

Very tasty bean and cheese tostada… Salsa was just right and my kids loved the chicken enchiladas… Nothing stunning about the ambiance, but then again, aren’t we supposed to feel like we are in Tijuana??? Husband got the carnitas tacos, said they were dry… I wanted chips and salsa or better yet guacamole, but they didn’t offer chips or guacamole… It was good, but not great.

OMG!!! When you get to stand at the window and see them prepare your food, you know it’s cooked with authenticity. No canned beans here. The carnitas is what I had and they were DELICIOUS. Table room is scarce, so take your order to go and enjoy it in the plaza, where you can also people watch.

If you’re in a pinch and want something quick in the area, this is for you. It’s no frills, but the price is right and it tastes good.

While visiting Olvera Street today in search of party goods, we stopped to eat lunch at Rodolfo’s. This tiny little restaurant(7 tables) produced some mighty good eats! We had the gorditas with meat, no beans, guacamole, and cheese. Salsa wasn’t my cup of tea so I didn’t add any. We also had the quesadilla which was entirely consumed! The tacos plate was food. tacos are. Teeny bit greasy and come with beef, chicken, or pork. Pretty plain tacos but the meat was delicious. Beans served alongside the tacos were great! Guacamole could be better. It was quite like an avocado sauce. No chips either. Service was friendly and fast. I would go back for the gorditas again. Nice little find on the otherwise tourist trap they call Olvera Street.

In the heart of Olvera Street with a handful of tables, half a dozen counter spots overlooking the kitchen and quick, basic and yummy Mexican food… Rodolfo’s. Our waiter had a wicked sense of humor and we enjoyed the bustling atmosphere… we sat at the one small table which was right up against the busy flow of people. Oh and the prices? I had heuvos rancheros for 4.55.

Owney’s BottomLine: Olvera Street, how I love thee and your amazing places to eat. Mr. Rodolfo you deserve the Nobel Prize for making the world better. Extraordinary food, a wonderful server and a menu with excellent selection. This is one of my fav spots in LA and should be one of yours too. We went for breakfast and got a lot for two people and ate it ALL. Chili rellleno, chillicilles, a breakfast platter, eggs… lots of stuff. All of it great. Oh yeah, the Mexican coffee(whatever the official name is)…Get it! We even got a breakfast burrito for my sister togo.
