Roast is the return of the great neighborhood restaurant. Great quality all fresh ingredients and a variety of choices that makes you keep coming back. Check out Taco Tuesday’s. They set up a taco station on their tented outside patio and provide choices such as Mahi for 4.00, Roast chicken or filet for 2.00 each. The place already deservingly gets packed.

The short ribs are delicious! I found the service to be courteous and efficient and they even made arrangements for home delivery when I was ill. I am now a regular customer!

Love this place… it’s rare to find quality wild, grass-fed, food that’s as good quality as what you’d eat at home. Great for picking up on the way home and also nice to eat there. I like that it’s a deli — more relaxed than a restaurant and nice outside seating around the fires. Staff are very friendly and helpful — really making an effort. Sorry to see other negative comments, not saying they didn’t have bad experiences, but it’s hard to find truly grass-fed, wild, etc. and I’ve been there many times without a hitch.

My wife and I came for lunch in the beginning of February for the first time. I had the tuna sandwich which was unlike any tuna I’ve ever had. I ended up getting some of the tuna to go, it was THAT good. My wife couldn’t decide and asked to taste some of the salads behind the deli glass. The woman behind the counter suggested she order a veggie plate which wasn’t on the menu, but was a plate made up from the deli selections. Wow. I ended up eating most of my wife’s lunch. The service was excellent. We will be back.

It was overpriced for what we got. We went once for the first time about a month after they opened. The girl behind the counter was obviously annoyed because we were taking a little longer to make our order. It was a new place and we had never been to the other location before. The menu was also confusing in terms of pricing. It listed things«by the pound» but the veggies out of the deluxe case we bought were not based on weight but carton size. Getting in and out of that parking lot is such a pain. So given value of the food, the lack of customer service, and how much work it takes to get in and out of that strip mall it isn’t worth going back to. Update — I just got a message though Unilocal about how unfair my review was from a «Wil B.» He complained that I shouldn’t review because it is from an experience from 4 months ago. Well, I did state it is from when they opened. I had intended all along to give a review, but I kept forgetting. And I do agree with him that we need more nice places to eat in the Palisades, but they also need to be relatively affordable. I’m sure Roast is probably passing along the cost to rent in that strip mall, but overall isn’t worth going back. I still don’t understand why they list food by the pound, but don’t sell it that way. Hey Wil B — I am a reasonable person, but this place isn’t worth it for me to come back. I also don’t care for being harassed by other customers for my opinions.

I very rarely write these but I Just got a Chinese chicken salad to go and a vanilla cupcake to share with the girl I babysit for. The first thing she said about the cupcake was«store bought» and that her favorite part is normally the frosting and it was too bad she had to take it all off. The Chinese chicken salad was nearly inedible– I was starving and spent $ 20 for the two things so I ate as much as I could of it anyways. How can you mess up a Chinese chicken salad– I mean really. Overpriced, friendly staff but clearly unorganized and just awful food. Too bad I wasted 20 dollars on a meal that was hardly edible. A 20 Dollar bill that I worked hard for and don’t have a lot of at that.

The only thing better then the food here, is the service! The people working at Roast are beyond friendly! Can’t say enough good things about the joint…

My husband and I were in the area, visiting the Self-Realization Lake Shrine and were looking for a place to have lunch afterwards. We stumbled upon Roast, since most other cafes seemed to be closing around 3:30/4. The guy who took our order was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a bbq chicken salad and a roast beef sandwich. It didn’t take long to get our food, maybe 10 min max. Both were absolutely delicious, a good sized portion and very filling. We sat on the patio and really enjoyed our lunch. We would definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

Roast is the place we have all been waiting for: a friendly neighborhood restaurant with outstanding quality food and a smiling face behind the counter. Their salads are so fresh and their daily specials are always delicious. In a pinch, you can call in to order any lunch special to go(read: forgot to pack your kids a lunch), and Michelle will have it ready for pick up. Their dinner items are always hot and ready for you to plate in your own dishes to pass off as home made! As you can tell, we eat and order from here a lot!

I had high hopes but other than the nice woman taking orders and running around everyone else seems to be moving as slow as possible. I was going to order chicken but not after I saw the flies all over it. Kitchen was generally am unorganized mess. Too bad, we need a good place.

We had an early lunch here today. The ladies had veggie salads selected from the tempting items in the display case. One of the guys in our party had the cold salmon. I had the turkey sandwich. We sat outside on the patio on a beautiful fall morning. We really enjoyed it. Very fresh ingredients in the salads. The cold salmon was excellent. Ditto the turkey. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We understand they will start serving breakfast soon. That’s an excellent idea. We will definitely return.

Definitely going through ‘new opening’ pains. but it is nice to have a different option in the neighborhood. The food is decent, best deal is the kids meal — mine loves the tater tots. It’s just a bummer that the prices are too high/there’s not enough value there to do takeout on a regular basis(like I do with rocco’s nearby). I think they should start giving coupons to local folks if they want repeat business.

Imagine the Whole Foods food bar, except twice the price. Surly cashier, but the other person who helped me was nice. Slow service because they reheat everything in an oven. Prepare for some sticker shock fitting the locale. They carry Spindrift though which is awesome. Overall, I found it to be confusing white people food.

I figured one more chance since they are convenient to me. They are absolutely lost I have never seen a place with so many working people who are accomplishing nothing but being there in body only. Hats off to ownership in their selection of Dodo Birds They are known for Roast Products like rotisserie chicken But where is the chicken?

The chance of me comming back here is bleak. I WANTEDTOORDERCHICKEN, BUTGUESSWHAT ? 1. FLIESWEREALLOVERTHECHICKENANDFISHTHATWASPUTOUTUNDER A HEATLAMP. THEREISNOPROPERCASINGFORTHISSETUPANDFLIESWEREENJOYINGIT. –Yes, we live on planet earth and yes there are inscets that live on earth. 2. I let the Michelle know but all she replied was«oh really»…which was a bit fake and she expressed a little sarcasm. As a result, did nothing about it, nor ask any other questions. It was of no concern to her. Nasty. I ordered Tuna Nicoise since this was in the glass case, and an assortment of veggies by the pound. The tuna was good, I would recommend that. 3. Half of the MENU was not readily availible since an employee called out sick. 4. The rest of the employees that did decide to go to work were very nice and helpful. Most of the items on the menu are very simple and having said that, you can make it at home. Unless you’re having a lazy moment then come here and eat your veggies. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is free.

Opened two weeks ago in the old Café Mimi space and yes, they are going through growing pains as staff is running around like chickens with their heads cut off most of the time. Been there three times and the food has been delicious every time. Roast chicken, French Dip, and BBQ Brisket all EXCELLENT and you really can taste the quality in the meats and loving the soft french roll they come on. HOWEVER, I agree with the other reviews that the sides that come with the sandwiches are MICROSCOPIC! You can«upscale» to the roasted veggies for 3 bucks more per side but that brings the cost of the sandwich to 16 – 17 bucks which is very high for any neighborhood«deli» Why not make the roasted veggies a «side» as it can’t be that expensive to roast some carrots or potatoes? Also they simply MUST do something about the ordering system. You wait in line and they they seem to fill orders when they want — NOT in the order of when you placed it! Plus, if you place your order and then grab a table outside you have to constantly come in to check to see if your name was called. Why not give out numbered cards, put on your table, and have a runner come out and deliver your food? Many fast casual places employ this system and it works. Oh, one more thing — the couches outside are a weird idea as they are not practical when eating this type of food(unless you want it spilled all over you). Maybe if they had a happy hour with small bites and drinks? I really want this place to work as I am a «local» and would eat here often if they get their act together.

I don’t think I’ll come back. I waited in line for a while, and halfway through I thought of leaving, but I’ve invested in so much time in line that I figured I might as well stay. Probably was in line for a good 30 minutes. When I got to the counter, they didn’t have half of the menu items and the staff were so poorly trained that they kept asking each other what to do in between orders. I was growing so impatient that I just ordered something that was already ready(a meal for one, .25 lbs of salmon, and two 4oz sides). I also grabbed a little cupcake in a maison jar(a sprinkles cupcake is bigger); my bill was $ 23. The food was mediocre, and the wait was long. Definitely not worth it. I should’ve gone to Taste, and gotten my food in 10 minutes. TASTE is great BTW.

2 stars is definitely the right rating for this place. It’s a shame, as my wife & I were eagerly anticipating its opening. Prior to my going here, my father informed me of how hilariously small their«sides» are that accompany the sandwiches and plates. Naturally, I assumed that he was exaggerating. …I’ll get back to that. So, we tried to go here one evening and the power was out. It was still light outside and being our first visit we thought something was up, but wasn’t completely sure. Meanwhile, we waited about 10+ minutes to try and order. No one greeted us and it wasn’t until we had wasted our time and we were up to order that we were informed the power was out and they couldn’t make a sandwich. Rude! Apparently you need electricity to put meat & fix’ns on bread. So, I tried another time, this time it was lunch pick up. A coworker’s girlfriend did the chore and picked up for a bunch of people in my office. They ran out of what was needed for her order, didn’t inform her when ordering and didn’t call her to inform her, despite taking her phone number for the order. It wasn’t until she showed up there and was paying that she was informed. This delayed everyone’s lunch and upset her, as she was doing us all a favor. I got the chick club with the Asian kale salad. The food was good, not great, and back to my earlier point… the side was tragically small. I’m not sure if hilariously small is the way to describe is, as its size was literally insulting! It was no more than 1, maybe 2 bites. After having look so forward to this place opening, I find myself very disappointed with the quality of their staff, portions, and food. Hopefully they can get their act together, as its an extremely convenient location.

Not ready for opening yet. Second visit and again they ran out of salads, Turkey and very slow service. Get more experienced help. Food taste is good.

Another new addition to the palisades. Just opened today and still are going through the growing pains of a new business(waited 30 mins to get food to go). It took us a while to order but the food was decent. I’m glad we finally have something new here. And I hope they get things together quick because palisades people are all about time and many people left when they found out they had to wait even 5 minutes. Our second time here and they still don’t have their act together. The first time I didn’t mind waiting but there was only 1 person in front of us and it still took us 40 mins for take out. Also the food portions are different, the first time the food was ample. Today the food portions were a lot smaller. Also, I asked for no sauce on the roast beef and I saw her write it down. I get it and there is sauce all over. Asked for extra horse radish and of course there weren’t any extra. They just need a better system in ordering and also need to actually have all items in stock. This business is being run very poorly but the food is still decent.
