Visiting my husband at the hospital. Decided to go down to the cafeteria… Bad mistake. Angel was cooking at the grill. We filled out our order form. Angel called our name and I noticed the curly fries were cold. I asked him to heat them up at he said he couldn’t. Ok we don’t want those… Sat down to eat our burgers and the meat was cold! At least your at the hospital already if you get a food borne illness!

How could a bad situation become worse? The food here is really really really bad. And by the way not very healthy. Kaiser has no shame. It is truly an embarrassment, soggy heat lamped pre packaged junk, fresh as in freshly frozen and thawed. High priced junk food

It’s sad to say such a beautiful hospital has such a bad cafeteria. We gave it multiple tries this past weekend and all visits were unsuccessful and disappointing. The cooks serving the buffet have such an attitude, treat you as if your a bother to them. This cafeteria needs to train their employees on Customer Satisfaction and remind them they have a job because of the customers.

Located on the 2nd floor of the Kaiser Permanente LA Medical Center, Rejuvenate Café has snacks, beverages, soups, salad bar, global food, a protein section and a very large seating area. The options are fairly healthy and the prices are not as bad as I expected them to be. It is a nice area for both medical staffers and visitors or the hospital to refuel and hang out. I came here a few times a day every time I was at the Medical Center visiting my cousin in L&D and her newborn baby boy in the NICU. Being too worried and stressed out for my family’s well-being, I hardly found myself in the mood to eat. The main reason for my visit here was COFFEE! Proudly serving Starbucks coffee, I came down and purchased a new cup every time I ran out. I was so tired with all the driving and waiting around so I relied on coffee to stay awake… to the point where I couldn’t sleep at night. Pretty bad, right? Coffee Prices — Tall: $ 1.75 — Grande: $ 2.10 — Vente: $ 2.35 Rejuvenate Café sure has a bit of everything for everyone. It is definitly nicer than a typical hospital cafeteria. I was especially grateful for this place since parking is so expensive I didn’t want to go anywhere off-site, and mainly because I wanted to stay nearby in case there were any emergencies or updates about my cousin and the baby.

Still the Same Cafeteria ****************************** Unfortunately, the food and service has but marginally improved since its supposed facelift. As an employee of the hospital, I have tried multiple items offered by this cafeteria only to be disappointed. As I look at the menu today, I see a picture of a «dijon chicken sandwich» with thinly sliced folded cucumbers, red chili peppers, placed upon a bed of cilantro. I was excited in anticipation of this gourmet chicken sandwich. But sadly, my initial suspicions were realized. This chicken sandwich was no different than what I have had numerous times: lettuce, tomato, and salty flavorless pickles. The only difference being a dijon honey mustard dressing. No cilantro, no mandolined cucumbers, and no red chilli peppers. Even the griller employee was the same disinterested chap whom I have seen numerous times. Either he has a short attention span or perhaps a hearing deficit as I have to repeat my order at least 2 times — every time. The soup is still the same. Its an unappetizing hodgepodge of ingredients where one always lifts the lid hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but only to place the lid right back down. Its a recurring theme in this cafeteria of minimal effort and little imagination. On the plus side, the bananas are always available. And half the time they are actually ripe. I guess one can’t really mess up bananas. I guess I will be going back to Subway Sandwiches again.

The staff here were extremely helpful with catering to my health needs. The Salmon Teriyaki Bowl was delicious and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy hot meal after spending a long day at the hospital. Ingredients contain streamed rice, salmon, baby bok choy, bell peppers and topped with teriyaki sauce but in my case I got it on the side since I’m limiting my salt intake these days.

Plan on sustenance only for the most part & limited hours. The next closest thing while you might be holed up visiting patients at the Kaiser Hospital might be the Subway across-and-down the street and a few food trucks that you might find parked outside on Sunset once in a while.

An extraordinary serendipitous find, discovered only because I was sent to the Kaiser pharmacy a few steps down the hall to fill a prescription after a doctor’s appointment. The pharmacy said it would take about 15 minutes to fill the prescription, so I wandered out and came upon the enormous Rejuvenate cafeteria, which at 11am was sparsely populated and easy to navigate to look around. The menus were promising and provocative, with items like Citrus Carnitas Tacos priced at $ 1.25, and a large bowl of turkey chili for $ 2.29. The chili was excellent, and the prices astoundingly low. The café environment is attractive, contemporary, clean, sunny and well laid-out, the work staff alert and pleasant, and all the details felt thought-out and considered, such as machines to dispense plastic tableware one utensil at a time, and signs to explain that this practice reduces usage and holds down costs. I plan on returning whether or not I have a doctor’s appointment or prescription to fill. The variety of dishes offered and amazing prices are tempting enough to bring me back again to sample more and see if my first impression was a lucky fluke or a reliable standard of service.

For a hospital cafeteria I have to say it’s a lot more pleasant than you would think. It’s large, plenty of seating and they even have sushi. The lines can be long during lunch hour which is expected. I’ve only seen one cashier who is pretty polite and friendly. I’m glad they use paper trays vs plastic. Pricing is a bit high but typical. If you look around their premade section the prices are tiny bit lower. They have a juice bar for smoothies and desserts. It’s good, can’t expect too much at hospital cafés but I do admit this probably one of the nicer ones I’ve seen.

Plenty of seating here, though those in search of outlets will have to hunt for them as they are few and far between(Look for the table along the back wall, closest to the food counters. There’s an outlet below the«Maximum Occupancy» sign). Food is pretty good, or at least the breakfast food is. Prices are a little high but I suppose that’s to be expected. Reasonable place to hang out if you have a long wait at the hospital.

I work at this hospital as a Sonographer and eat at the café quite often. I must say it is always good. I have never felt ill after eating here as I have at other eateries in the area. The room is very nice and so are the employees. If you are not happy they will do all in their power to help.

THis is more like a 3.5 star review. I work in a hospital setting so I have had my share of hospital food and I do have to admit, this place is actually edible and i like going back for more. They do charge you a bit more than other hospitals in my opinion. I think i paid 5 bucks for a can of moster here.

The cashiers are a bit slow(especially during the noon time hour), the lines are long for the grill, but the food is pretty good. There’s a mixture of different foods in the café from a salad bar, hot dog bar, soups, fresh bread/sandwich area, a grill, Mexican food area, coffee bar, beverage bar, chips, snacks, etc. Everything you need for a short stay at the hospital. The food isn’t that expensive and doesn’t taste that bad. The people who make, grill, create your lunch are pretty nice also. They seem to want to be there to work! Kinda sad though. they ran out of hot dog buns on my visit. They even checked in the back and they had no buns back there. No hot dogs for me! :( Plenty of seating, tables. The area’s clean and there’s even a nice outdoor area with umbrellas. Enjoy Sunset Blvd and the nice SoCaL day! Free WIFI throughout the hospital too.

Breakfast menu!!! So after all was well & done with my family member’s surgical procedure my mom and I where ready for breakfast, it was then I was suggested let’s go see the new cafeteria, being along time kaiser member I remember always being excited as a child to go eat at the cafeteria and with my mother’s Kaiser discount she never said no. so off we went. I like how they had their version of Starbucks, I wasn’t sure if it was an actual Starbucks since I chose for the Starbucks self pour. It was close to the end of breakfast so it was slim pickings, but what was left look consumable. I opted for a scoop of eggs and tater tots(I love tater tots) and a few slices of bacon and toast that you can toast to your liking, my mother opted for the oatmeal, with plenty of oatmeal toppings. It wasn’t the worst breakfast for the price. Everything is easily visible and priced so you know what your getting and how much you’ll be spending, before we left I wanted to get a cola and noticed ALL soda drinks where replaced with healthy options. all I wanted was a Pepsi!

If you are at Kaiser Sunset as a patient, visitor, or just plain hungry, then make like a fetus and head out to the Rejuvenate Café. There you can satisfy your hunger at one or more of the following stations: Simply to go, deli, pizza, grill, or even the coffee stand that proudly serves Starbucks coffee. I have tried the following items at the grill: chicken tenders with fries, bacon cheeseburger, mushroom swiss angus burger, chicken quesadilla, and the onion rings. All of these items are not bad, but when you’re hungry, anything sounds appetizing. The seating area is big with plenty of tables and chairs, some of which face the windows with a view of Sunset Blvd. There are outdoor patio tables as well. I also like the comfortable couch type chairs, perfect for those who just want to enjoy a conversation or to relax. Once you leave this place, you may feel rejuvenated from the full stomach you may achieve, and take comfort in knowing that you can ease the worries of the day.

Who would review a Hospital Cafeteria(2nd floor Main Hospital Kaiser Permanente)… just have to let you know if you work near Sunset and Vermont… the coffee is supposedly by Starbucks… but is clearly better than what I receive routinely at Starbucks… and less expensive… so this is what gets them 4 stars(not awesome but still very good)… so go for it… foodwise, they are stating that they are not using HFCS and additives… I know the pre-packaged food still has lots of preservatives in it… so, they’ve got the right idea and they are half way there… the chicken quesadilla is a good deal at the grill… so, if you decide on the java but not the food… there are still several food trucks parked outside on Sunset west of vermont on weekdays to serve! Go Calbi & LobstaTruck!!!
