Was super yummy and perfectly timed as it was parked outside the Do-Over 1 Sunday night. Went for typical jerk, rice & peas with plantains ans was amazed at how good it was. I also like the portion size, and felt it was perfect post drinking all afternoon/night.

I can’t do it! I’m trying not to laugh as I write this review, but for lunch I had… jerk chicken.(lol) yeah, ok this is awkward… it was good, but I’ve had better jerk chickens, probably because of the… jerk sauce(smh)…breathe… but the chicken plate comes with rice and and I ordered a side of plantains so it was still tasty. All I was missing was a red stripe… there aren’t too many carribean spots around LA, so I would recommend that you try out some new spices. Just like most food trucks nowadays, they incorporate the fusion tacos and burritos in the menu. If anything I’ll try the burrito next time. Enjoy the Jerk chicken(lmao)

I had you once on Melrose about 2 months ago and I haven’t been able to find you since… You stopped updating your twitter and facebook… I crave you all the time and I need to find you again. I’m going crazy. That’s how good this truck is.

I can’t believe this place got good reviews. I just had their burrito for my lunch break in downtown LA in front of Macy’s plaza and it was the worst burrito I’ve ever had. It was 95% mushy rice and 5% chicken and not even good chicken. The chicken wasn’t seasoned at all, it’s a complete joke to call it «jerk chicken». The worst part is that the chicken didn’t look like it was cooked all the way, and it had a lot of chewy parts, the whole thing was a disaster. My friend also order the same thing, and we just ended up throwing the thing away. The only positive of this place was the girl, she was nice. As far as food goes, I would never recommend this to anyone. I’m not sure if they had a bad day or what… the girl was there alone, maybe she’s not the cook… I’m very confused how can anyone have a business and serve this kind of food?

Nice to get Jerk Chicken in Ktown. I ordered 3 Jerk Chicken tacos, I think they were $ 2 a piece. it was good Jerk Chicken, even without the hot sauce the Chicken was really spicy. Friendly service, need to check out the Jerk Chicken plate next time.

In So. Cal, it’s tough finding cuisine from the Caribbean –much less GOOD Caribbean food. I feel Reggae Chicken goes beyond being just another cliché fusion truck; it serves food not ubiquitous in this part of the country and does it right. Ok, well, besides maybe the tacos/burritos(which, it would seem, everyone is doing) there are no gimmicks with the food. The staple Jerk Chicken items are tender and spiced to perfection; a feat I dont see often in a lot of the so-called«jerk» foods I’ve tried in So. Cal. The rice and beans are always moist and tender. Being asian, i find myself unfortunately judging other culture’s rice dishes.(If I really am I rice racist, at least I can admit it!) I like the rice here. Its neither hard nor mushy. The beans are also al dente, a firm but not hard/mushy treat. And like my favorite southern dish, red beans and rice, they are much more flavorful on their own than their mild– mannered concept would suggest. Even their fusion items, the burritos, are great. Good construction, tender meat, spicy without being overbearing. Unfortunately, I didnt get any plantains which I must and will try. While Im making a to-do list, I really wanted to try the Jamaican beef patties. My friends specifically from New York have always suggested that if I ever make it to Jamaica, I should try ‘em. I wont go on saying that these would be as good but its very nice to know that they’re a lot closer than I’d ever think. The service is also exquisite. Most food truck folk I’ve met have been pleasant and friendly. However, not many of them hand out Jerk Chicken samples! Oh, and no other food truck proprietor has ever danced over to me carrying a tray of the aforementioned free samples!(maybe this doesnt happen all the time but it did at Art Cycle!) Bottom line, Reggae Chicken is delicious and unique yet surprisingly simple. No crazy meats or hype piled on top of mediocre, served on a gimmick. It’s a grand specimen of what a food truck should be in an increasingly crowded market.

I’ve never had real Jamaican Jerk Chicken(the closest I had was the dorm food version at UCLA) but after spotting a truck with a chicken sporting dreadlocks and a pair of shades I definitely had to try it out. Got the 6 $ Jerk plate, the owner was very friendly and also threw in free free plantains on the side. The chicken and rice was flavorful and complemented by the spicy sauce in the plate. Wash it down with some Jamaican soda(Champagne Kola is good) and your good to go.

Awesome truck, friendly owner, solid food, good value: Small is a 4X8in foam plate filled with rice or fries and topped with chicken. $ 4 Large is a standard take out container filled with the same for $ 6, Sides include beans, fries, and my fave, delicious and perfectly fried plantains for $ 2. Too full to comment, mouth and stomach are too full to be contemplating dinner even though it’s already been 3 hours.. . will be going back again.. .

Today’s lunch was chicken, rice, plantains, and ginger beer for $ 8. Even better than the last visit :) They had no pork, but Regine said it would be available tonight in Hollywood.

What an awesome lunch I had! If you like jerk chicken, you gotta try the Reggae Chicken Truck. You will be greeted by the lovely and beautiful owner Regine. She will offer you a sample of the jerk chicken, but take my word on it, its really good! My lunch order was for a large jerk chicken plate; $ 6(although they have a small plate for $ 4). I went for the rice and peas as the side. Then I decided also order a side of french fries. They put some kind of spicy ketchup like sauce on the fries. Very yummy kick to the fries. I washed it all down with a Ginger Beer. The chicken was spicy but not unmanageable. You can get it either mild or spicy. I was getting my Jamaican eat on in Koreatown, Mon(said in my Jamaican accent! lol). You can find where the truck is by following them on twitter. They were on Wilshire and Hobart 2 days this past week. I hope they get a facebook page soon! I dont do the twitter. lol.
