I love this place. HUGE!!! 3 dance floors. 1 on the left, 1 on the right, 1 on the 2nd floor. I’ve come here on a couple of different nights for different events. A lot of times they close of the 1 on the right room in half, but it really opens all the way to the bathroom section to connect to the 1 on the left, so it is HUGE. For Red itself, i like how each room has different types of electronica/trance/techno music… and interesting lights, effects, guy putting clothespins on himself, go go dancers, etc. Super friendly, huge parking lot(paid), the bouncer says hi have a good time, and shakes your hand, and there is usually not a long line. Sometimes you can wear your sneakers. food, smoking, drinks, outside. Places to rest, and people dont shoo you away. its awesome. Even hip hop electronica, house, etc.

More than a few years ago, we used to come here often for Spundae, which later moved to Avalon. I guess we would come here because of the inhibition free vibe, especially when we were used to it after tooling around Europe the summer before. If you thought inhibitions were lowered in the bars try these trance places. Walk through the middle of the dance floor around 2−3am and you will get what I’m talking about. We came here last weekend because of a friend of a friend’s birthday. We were able to go to a restaurant, a bar, and get to Circus Disco around midnight and there were still 4 hours left before it closed. However, I just wasn’t feeling the trance music so it was a long 4 hours; blame it on getting older and moving on. This venue got even bigger than I remembered because there used to be 2 dance floors on the ground floor and one upstairs but they since added another dance area. The great positive about this place is its enormous outdoor area, which is a good thing because I was here often that night. If you haven’t realized it yet, this place is HUGE! I heard they are going to demolish this place for some condos so definitely a little sad. This venue picks up extra stars because my buddy got some girls number while we were exiting the parking lot — drive by pickup so 1.5 stars. However, I’ll round up because it was so fun way back in the day and I still remember the great time we had when we watched Fat Boy Slim perform here. By the way, Arena, which is in front of Circus Disco, hosts Latin Gay Night on Saturday evenings. Circus Disco is promoted by Red that same evening. In any case, Circus Disco also has a small nude male statue(perhaps a replica of David) when you walk in on the left hand side garden area so don’t get confused you’re in the right place.

So this is my 3rd or 4th time going to red and each time I hope it will be better. Every time I left within 1 hour. Sad to say I love the club(circus), it was great when it was Spundae but now its fairly dead. The main dance floor gets a little crowded and the upstairs had 3 people and the other 2 dance floors had a handful of people and it was 1am. I guess everyone moved to Giant @ vanguard or avalon. The problem is the music sux. All 4 dance floors and they all sucked so we just stayed outside which is what a lot of people were doing. Anyways, I hope they get some better music or just streamline Me and my friends agreed that would be a lot better.

Largest venue in the Hollywood area. RED is the promoter that is hosting Saturday nights @ Circus Disco. If you like EDM and want room to dance and mingle, this is the place to be. There are 3 – 4 rooms of music ranging from house, top40, trance, techno to progressive. Every week there is at lease 1 – 2 international headlining djs and 6+ local djs. The staff is very friendly. especially the doorman! Taco stand serves the best tacos and bugers! Bartender Thomas is the man! There is usually a guestlist that you can sign up for free entry at their website.

Trance… trance… trance! They’ve got 2 rooms of trance music with 2 to 3 DJs spinning different music at the same time. We were there for my friend Jimmy Hu who was spinning from 9−11pm this past Saturday night. The venue is great and has lots of room to roam about, I do find it funny that everyone who was dancing in the small room mainly was facing the DJ when they danced… oops, I meant hopped. Since everyone was hopping, I felt the need to as well, but boy am I paying for it today. I woke up and had a hard time gettin’ out of bed because my calves were sore, it’s one of those feeling you get when you haven’t worked those specific muscles in a long time. Great music, drinks are really good in the sense that they don’t skim on the hard liquor, they probably load at least half the cup with hard liquor for mixed drinks.

Definitely one of my favorite clubs with top name, world-class DJs. I don’t think I’ve never been to RED and not danced my A$$ off! It’s a VERY chill atmosphere, and you can come in jeans, a t-shirt, and sneakers– the majority of the crowd is dressed casually like this. It’s a nice welcome change from places like Avaland/Spundae where I feel under-dressed if I’m not wearing a short skirt and heels. I’ve done both the clubbing scene and the rave scene, and let me tell you– RED has the good vibe, friendliness and casualness of the rave scene(without the teens getting high on E) and without the pretentiousness and shallowness found at clubs like Avaland, Spundae, Vanguard, etc. The crowd at RED is definitely there for the fun, the vibe, and the music, which is what it should be about in the first place!

I have much love for this venue… wherever they go! The peeps are always friendly. They’re not at all like the Avalon pretentious crowd. The inside and outside areas are ENORMOUS not to mention a great sound system that doesn’t leave your ears ring for the next two days. The staff is always friendly… love ya Mario!
