Rancho Cienega Sports Complex

Great sports complex get out and get active. Run, skate, swim, or pick up a ball. In the world of LA parks this is one of the better ones I have come across. Rancho Cienega hosts an open track, a swimming pool, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and a skatepark… I know I missed something but this park is truly all encompassing (there may even be a play ground for kids). One of the few down sides to the park is the homeless encampments which exists along the backside of the park along the expo line, but it’s typical of LA City which rarely address health and safety in public spaces. Anyhow I digress great park with EV charging stations for you while you play.

I love coming here to the track to workout. Its within reasonable distance from my house and ample parking available. Its never too crowed but its best to get your workout in early just in case of an event etc.

Right next to Dorsey High, this sports center is used both by the school and by people of the neighborhood. I like to use the track after work to run (super slow, more of a walk). The track area was redone about a year ago and the whole complex is being worked on. Awesome, I look forward to seeing it complete.
I love the fact that at football games the home and visitors side are reversed.

I searched «free tennis courts» on Google and came up with a very convenient link to all of the free and per-​hour courts in LA county at
. This one was the closest park with free tennis courts, although still at least a 10 minute drive. Upon arriving, the park looked like it offered several public sporting facilities: a pool, basketball court, football stadium, and of courts, the tennis courts I was looking for!
However, there were no fences enclosing the courts and no nets set up. The lights were on though, for some reason.
Ugh, what a disappointment. I will be driving past this area occasionally to check on its status though, and will update accordingly!
