Great Thai food!!! Little hard to find. Located in the basement of a Jewelry mall. Once you head down the stairs make a right go down the hall and you will come to the neon sign. Then make a left and it will be on the right side. Place gets rammed with locals and people who work in the building during the lunch hour. Great tasty food. Only problem I have is their delivery radius. It’s extremely small so ask before you order.

Utterly disappointing. I should have taken the one/two star reviews more seriously. First of all, this place is really inconvenient! I called to place my order and I had to call five times within a 15 minute span before I got to talk to a person. The first couple of times, it just rang and no one picked up and then the phone line had a busy signal two times. This didn’t deter me though. In fact, I thought the food must be good if they were too busy to answer the phone or if other people were also calling to order. The phone order was pretty easy once I talk to someone but they didn’t even ask my name for the order. I was told it would take 20 – 25 minutes, which is long but I figured they must be busy. I walked over and the location was inconvenient to find. I go inside the Jeweler Mall and knew it was in the basement from reading reviews but I still had to ask a security guard where the basement was because the stairs were tucked back and there was no signage. Once I walked down the stairs, I had to ask someone else where the restaurant was again because there was no sign and the basement has two hallways. The restaurant wasn’t even busy when I walked in so that doesn’t excuse why they didn’t answer their phone. When I went to pay, I found out it was cash only.(Third strike for lack of convenience!) I had ordered a shrimp pad thai so I looked at my order to make sure it was correct as I was leaving. Shrimps looked sad and not fresh. It was basically all dry noodles with some egg scramble in there. No bean sprouts, no tofu. I took a quick bite as I was walking down the hallway and it was bland, just sweet so I went back to ask for hot sauce. The girl working there told me there were already chili and fish sauce in the bag.(It was like sliced jalapenos in vinegar.) I told her I wanted red chili and she said I had to give back the chili and fish sauce if I wanted hot sauce or else there would be a 25 cent charge. Uh, okay… I gave her back the lame chili in vinegar. I get back to the office to eat and find there is orange sauce leaked inside the bag, which is weird because the noodles looked dry when I checked my food. So I open the hot sauce and it is sriracha! What kind of restaurant is so stingy that they charge you for a small container of sriracha??! So dumb. I only gave this two stars because it didn’t give me food poisoning! But yeah, definitely pass on this place. Anyone who gave this more than two stars has no idea what good Thai food is. Disappointing considering it had one of the better reviews for Thai food in the downtown area.

I wanted Thai food so bad and read great reviews on this place. Rama Thai Cuisine is hidden inside a building in Jewelry District. I got lost and asked the security guard to help me. He couldn’t even figure out the street number LOL Pad see ew($ 7.50) with beef & shrimp($ 1.50): my pad see ew was greasy and salty. I couldn’t taste any other seasonings but salt. The frozen shrimps were bland, my beef was chewy, but the veggies were fresh and crunchy. I should probably get vegetarian pad see ew instead of beef and shrimp: P Thai iced tea($ 2.00): my Thai tea was not too sweet, but it had a super milky aftertaste. Milkier than regular Thai iced tea… it needed more tea IMO. The girl who helped me had a super sweet smile and she was very attentive. She made sure I had everything I needed. QUICKTIP: TAKETHEELEVATORDOWNTOTHEBASEMENTANDYOUWILLSEETHISPLACEINFRONTOFYOU. 2 stars! I will probably give it one more try and try the curry. Rama Thai Cuisine is not yummylicious!

Have ordered from here in the past and the food is great. But today was different. I put an order in for deliver and waited an hour, only for them to bring the wrong order. I called and they said they were closed. Seriously, I waited an hour for them to bring two plates of fried rice instead of the pad see ew I wanted. If you’re going to repeat the order to the costumer twice, bring the right order!

I get Rama Thai lunch delivery very frequently at work. The food is delicious and pretty affordable. A few of my favorite dishes are the steamed ginger fish, pan fried glass noodles, garlic tofu and vegetarian wonton soup. The fish is steamed with a bunch of assorted vegetables. We always ask for extra veggies, which is definitely worth it! The glass noodles are amazing. I was never really a fan of them but ever since I started ordering from Rama Thai, I have started loving them. We tend to order extra veggies here too. The tofu here is amazing — even those who don’t like tofu are sure to love it! The sauce it is cooked in is delicious and the veggies make it even better. :) The soup is a bit spicy so if you are not a fan of a little heat make sure to tell them.

This is a literally«hidden gem» in the jewelry district. Be sure to look for a sign/menu board on the street(otherwise you might miss the entrance). If you are in a hurry, try daily combo. We go there at least once a week, but still love this place! Ginger chicken(a secret menu?) is very flavorful. Gotta try that!

I’ve been there once with my husband and I really love the family feeling there. There were nice to us and service was great. I’ve heard that this place would always be busy during lunch break so be aware of that. Since I have read many reviews mostly bad ones. I decided to ask them myself why delivery take too long sometimes. Turn out that the latest is about 1 hour –ish which I think I get it. Think about when you go out at some dining or order food from somewhere in Hollywood. Mostly almost 2 hours. Since this place is small so I guess that’s why they don’t hire more people. Well, Let’s get back to food. I ordered spicy fried rice and my husband had garlic chicken. OMG! delicious. I even ordered more back home. This place is a great place. Ignore those bad reviews and try it yourself. Prove it. I can guarantee you that you will feel amazing right after you taste their food.

A few years ago I would have said this place was utter garbage. Maybe it was an off day, but the underground jewelry hawking denizens that were the lurking that day were the least of things that made me feel ill that day. So flash forward a few years and giving Rama a second chance has been worth it’s while. Located in the basement of a somewhat shady jewelers mart, you have to travel to the depths of hell to find this place. Ok, maybe not that deep, but you feel close enough when you make your way to the basement floor the Jewelry Mart on Hill Street. The menu is pretty limited and set up like a thai food panda express with a few stock hot items. They have a number of lunch specials that look pretty generic, so I usually steer toward the rest of the menu. The spicy mint dish over rice is always a solid choice. No matter the meat choice(I’ve done it with pork, beef, and chicken) the flavor and spicy kick are both present. A good jolt of spice, but not completely over powering. Amongst my other favorite choices, I’d recommend the beef salad and pad kee mau. The beef salad can be made extra spicy if you like it that way, though the pad kee mau is a great choice is you aren’t looking for anything with spice that’s not the popular pad thai or pad see ew orders. Thai sausages are only a $ 1. Definitely worth a second try.

ordered combination pad Thai & portion size was pretty generous, was put out because they charge 75¢ more for beverages without ice & getting staff to give extra condiments was like pulling teeth.

I eat here about once a week, sometimes more, due to the fact that I work close by. It’s a little hole in the wall in the basement of a jewelry mall but don’t let that deter you. The food is great and the service is as good as can be considering it is a very popular spot. Be aware that it is cash only and that you will most likely not have cell reception if you choose to eat there… but hey, sometimes it’s good to just unplug and enjoy your meal!

my family and i have been this restaurant’s customers for the longest time from the many previous owners to the younger current fugly and fat female owner who doesn’t know how to run her business professionally. who puts their phone off the hook when the restaurant is really busy just because the owner feels like it and doesn’t have enough employess to handle more customers?! and veteran customers like me keep calling to a busy line nonstop. well, only this mickey mouse restaurant that i know of does all that. this dtla thai restaurant apparently is the only thai restaurant around which means they have no competitons and that’s why dtla jewelers owners and employees flock over to them for lunch. go figure. i have been ordering their thai dishes here and there and thai tea bobas weekly lately. today, they have lost me as their best customer who repeated my business with them. i just called in for lunch a thai tea boba and a lunch dish but they put me on hold for the longest 30 mins or so whereas my friend went out to buy her lunch in the wet rain and came back and i was still on hold with them. PATHETIC. an hour goes by and i call them back to order just a thai tea boba because i obviously got too hungry to wait any longer that i had already ordered my food elsewhere. i call them back to only order a thai tea boba for delivery(keep in mind i’m only across the street) and they say my order has to be $ 5 minimum to deliver, so i tell them that they kept me on hold for too long and then on top of that forgot about putting me on hold. what the hell?! and they kept telling me, $ 5 minimum to deliver. even though i can hear in the background that the owner’s boyfriend(the only smart, nice, and good person there) kept saying, «i will deliver! i will deliver!» would’ve been so good if he got the chance to but his girlfriend/owner kept telling the stupid and unnecessary minimum. i told them just deliver and i will tip. they without even thinking that i am their v.i.p. veteran customer for so many years even way before they came about owning the place, kept refusing to bring me my thai tea boba. in which they should’ve made up for putting me on hold for too long prior and forgetting about me on the other end STILL. really. how lame can they be? and i couldn’t leave my work because my duty was supervising. well, turns out this restaurant lost me as their best customer for so many years. total stupid move on their part. because right when i hung up with them, i told them, «that’s ok. i will never order anything from you guys again.» and seriously, what is up with«cash only»? pretty shady if you ask me. cash so they don’t have to pay IRS?! if anyone wants to eat thai food, i highly recommend to try«soi 7» on 7th street in between olive and grand. boycott rama thai because they are not only epic awful but they are also very ghetto/not professional at all in customer service. ignore the good reviews because they don’t know how awful this restaurant with very fugly she-devil owner truly is. she makes the devil himself look like an amateur. and i should know because my family and i have been eating here for too many years. eversince 2 to 3 former and various owners have owned this restaurant. that being, since i was an elementary kid. this current she-devil owner is a rotten egg compared to her stingy and greedy aunt who used to own this restaurant before her. and before her aunt owned, her aunt was an employee working for the past very generous owner. it was because of my family and i who would order DAILY food from here that helped make this restaurant more successful. and the current fugly she-devil owner is very ungrateful as well as disrespectful of that.

I really like this place, the food is pretty decent and the portion pretty big, enough for two meals. They add a lot of veggie in their dishes, and I like that. Will definitely patronize them again.

Hidden gem of a place in DTLA. Perfect if you’re craving some authentic thai food. The place is a little hidden. It’s located inside the second Jewelry Mall on your right on Hill Street if you’re coming from Pershing Square. Go into the Jewelry Mall past all the shops to the very back. Now head down to the basement and you’ve arrived! Their Pad See Ew is awesome. Super fresh, well seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Only $ 7! Daily lunch specials starting at $ 6. They even have noodle soup! Beef and Fish Ball noodle soup! Cash only. Don’t forget to use the little jars of chills in fish sauce!

The best Thai place in downtown. I work in downtown and this place is well known in my company. The food is always good and fresh. They make the menu items to order and everything is tasty ! The most popular dish is the Pad See Ew but I also love the chicken chow mien. I grew up in Asia so I had plenty of chow mien and this place has one of the best I’ve ever had. They cook it with high heat and put lots of fresh vegetables. I always ask for more vegetables and less chicken as I love their veggie so much. And don’t forget the Thai Ice Tea !! The only negatives I can say about this place is that I think they use MSG and the service is not so great. The owner Lisa could come across a little rude but I think it is due to the fact that English is her second language. You can expect the kid of service you usually receive in more traditional Asian restaurants. Lisa is actually nice once you get to know her. I eat there at least once a week because the food is that good !! The place usually gets crowded around 11:45 am but most people finish they food quickly and leave. If you don’t wait to wait, go there around 11:30 am to avoid the line. Update: The place must now has a sign saying that they don’t use MSG.

Nestled deep within the bowels of downtown LA’s Jewelry District is this little homey place called Rama Thai, otherwise known to some at the Gas Company as «Bling Bling». Bling Bling isn’t your regular everyday Thai restaurant. It’s more of a «home cooking» kind of place. Everyday they’ll have some kind of curry dish, along with sauteed vegetables and something else on the steamer, while still offering stables such as Pad Thai, Rad Nar, and Pad See Ew. Their Pad See Ew is The Best I’ve had. Annie and Lisa make their special sauces used in this super popular dish, and it’s a hit with all who’s ever had the pleasure of having it. My favorite Pad See Ew is the Combo version, which has beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, and I believe even tofu. SUPERYUM! The place is basically impossible to find if you’re coming for the first time. It is near the intersection of 6th and Hill, in the basement of the second building in the southwest corner. It helps to call in your order and ask if they’re busy, because you may not be able to be seated on a busy day, and would have to stand and wait while others finish up. Annie has been absent for a while now. Her sister Lisa, and Lisa’s daughter, Jean, now handle things. Lisa can be loud and can come across as rude, but please don’t take it the wrong way. Take a minute to check out the menu. I recommend #1 and 3, with chicken, if it’s your first visit. #2, Rad Nar, is basically Pad See Ew smothered in gravy. It’s great on a colder day. There is something not on the menu and perfect for cold rainy days, and that is Chicken Noodle Soup. Ask for it next time you’re there! Simple, clean, delicious in its own way. I hope you’ll like it. One last thing. I’ve been coming to Bling Bling for at least 8 years now. Annie and Lisa are almost like moms to me. They’re friendly, and their food not only fill my hunger, but also warm my heart.

How do you not have mango sticky rice??? I was hoping to get mango sticky rice today, but they told me it’s off season and for SOME reason they couldn’t get a bloody mango. This disappointed me. I came here a lot earlier this year for mango sticky rice, and it was subpar, but satisfying. I bought other stuff here as well a while ago, but it was so forgetful that I can’t even remember what else I would buy. It’s expensive for the quality.

So close to me yet hidden. How I wish I knew about this place earlier. I love the spicy fried rice !! Tom Yum is awesome too. At lunch you can get a fried rice with a bowl of soup for 11 $, and with the amount of rice they give you, there is enough food for dinner… I came back over and over for the same dish and it’s always as good as the first time. Two little things you should know before going there. 1)They only take cash, but they do have a tiny ATM right there, so you don’t have to go too far looking for a ATM. 2)Your phone might not work too well down in the basement. I wish they would open later, so my dear roommate that doesn’t get home till 7 could get a chance to try some good cheap Thai food. But I guess the Jewelers Mall determines the closing time? Anyways, I’m happy I know about the underground yummy Thai food.

I get Rama Thai lunch delivery at least once a week. The food is fresh, affordable, and pretty tasty. One of my favorite dishes is the steamed ginger fish. Filet of fish is steamed with slivers of ginger, broccoli, and assorted vegetables. The oyster/soy sauce is delicious and tastes wonderful when it’s spooned over white rice. They will charge an extra $ 1 if you want extra veggies. It’s totally worth it. Another must: pan fried glass noodles. We get it with chicken and extra veggies and it’s hard not to get sick of this dish. It has a very light flavor and it’s always fried just right. We’ve also tried the wonton soup which had a light broth — perfect for a light lunch or if you’re feeling a little under the weather. They will add noodles. Just ask and they will pretty much do anything… all at a little cost. All dishes are around $ 8 – 9 dollars and the portions are big so it’s quite the deal. Delivery is quick remember it’s cash only. P. S. the lady who usually picks up the phone is nice, but her voice can be deafening =)

I’ve been to this hole-in-the-wall since I was 2 years old! I use to come here all the time with my parents for lunch when we were in the jewelry district. I decided to come back here after a couple years and nothing has changed. The location of this place is quite hidden(basement level). I understand why people complain about service, but keep in mind it is a small place with only a few staff members. The food here is excellent though. I highly recommend the pad see eew! Overall, this place has real authentic thai dishes! **It gets super busy during lunch so call in ahead! **(seating is limited)
