Go see Singles Motel every Friday at 10:30. It’s an absolutely free improv show with some of the best improvisers from Chicago. The drinks are cheap and its seriously the best improv I’ve seen in L.A. I laughed so hard I almost passed out. Plus they are all extremely attractive. I want to be friends with the performers so bad but am too nervous to speak to them after the show(because of how good the improv is). The tall host is wild and free. He deserves whatever apartment he wants. Highly recommended.

I love Rafa’s Lounge. Years ago, I first ventured into this venue for a friend’s band. In the years since, I have gotten to know Rafa and the regulars that frequent his establishment. He is very personal and has provided a safe place to create, display, and conceptualize art. The community is vibrant and continues to grow every day! If you’re an artist or looking for something interesting on any particular night, I HEAVILY recommend a dose of Rafa’s Lounge.

In regards to local musicians, the owner does not keep his word.

I loooove this place. One of the best places for a good time in Los Angeles! The décor is funkier than a dead fish wrapped in an old Entertainment Weekly Where are you right now? Wherever it is, I bet it’s not as cool as Rafa’s.

Eclectic basement joint in Echo Park, a great place to stroll over to and hear local musicians and other acts when you’re bouncing between Echo & Plex or Two Boots Pizza.

Let’s get this straight, this is not your«typical» lounge. If you’re looking for somewhere to sit and have a nice drink and chat it up with your buds in a cute dress this is not the place. Now, if you like LOUD music, over crowded rooms filled with pot smoke and musty air then this is the place for you. I’ve been here three times only because of visiting the Echo next door and this is the fasted way down to Valet. Each time we’ve stopped in the music had been ok. It’s not really our cup of tea, but we can appreciate it and it seemed as though each time, the band has had their fans there. It’s also an art gallery of some sort but it the art is not the star here, the music is. Which is cool, just don’t expect to see any Picasso’s or Van Goh’s here. Place is cash only. I appreciate this place because of the outlet it gives these bands and fans a place to express themselves. It was always a good time. My only real gripe is that they need some major ventilation upgrades.

A lounge on Sunset blvd that has an art gallery. Rafa is a very cool guy. Beer and wine are available. It can get very hot on crowded days.
