Yummmm. f=.fresh made food, relatively fast :-) I highly suggest the Tostada… and for those with less of an appetite go for the«petit tostada». :-)

I work at HSC but since there are TONS of Mexican eatery in East LA, I never go to this place even though its on-campus. However today was an exception. Being busy and feeling too lazy to drive around in the heat I decided to try Poquito Mas. I placed my order and was waiting patiently when I overheard the workers’ conversation. Cashier: Shut da fuck up! Co-worker leaning over the counter who should be cleaning the tables: Girl, I’m not lyin’…*mumbles something* Cashier: I don’t give a fuck, if she press me, I’ll catch a case… I DOOOONOTCARE! DEFINITION for non-Ebonics speaker: press me — confront in an aggressive manner catch a case — do something that will get you arrested by the police and have to go to court for(ie. physical abuse) Co-worker laughing uncontrollably: LMAO… oh my gawd, you one crazy wayt bitch! Me:(completely appalled YETAMUSED) The food here is edible but if you’re at HSC and looking for food, try the grill area outside of Seaver or the cafeteria at Norris Hospital.

This place is the lesser of all evils if you need something decent to eat at HSC. The deli thing nearby has salads, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, and snacks but you don’t get as much bang for your buck. Panda express… I don’t touch that. Starbucks and the Grill… eh. The Petito Menu Their«Petito» menu is near perfect! Their tacos are ~$ 1.89 and you get your choice of meat and pico on a flour or corn tortilla. The regular tacos are a dollar more but you get guac and sour cream I think? The petito burrito isn’t really worth it unless you want a higher tortilla to burrito Innards ratio. The petito tostada is aweesomeeeee. $ 5.75 or .25 for a little fried bowl filled with salad, meat, pico, sour cream, guac, and cheese. The petito quesadilla is comparable in size to it’s regular menu counterpart. Regular menu You get more… you pay more… I haven’t really ventured that far into the regular menu. Pro: Everything comes with a bag of tortilla chips. Con: During the lunch rush… be prepared to console your angry stomach.

Amazing steak and chicken burritos! A generous helping of chips and 6 – 8 different salsas?! What’s not to love?! Oh yeah, the wait… You have to time your burrito craving for just the right serendipitous moment. Go either at 11:15am or 1:45pm to get your food in under 20 minutes. If you go during the lunch hour rush, you could be there for 40 – 45 minutes waiting and salivating!

expectations: high food: okay(tho i dont understand how pico de gallo is a «hot» salsa? 7⁄10 reallY?) service: a joke checked in for a late lunch at 2:30. no line. nobody apparently waiting ahead of me to get their food. i get a burrito and am order #00 which seems to confuse the ppl working there. «uh. zero? er, #100?» takes nearly 20 min to get my order. at least the chips were fresh and hot. this place doesnt compare to the la salsa of main campus circa 2001.

Food: Love their classic steak burrito. The amount they put in is so balanced and not messy when eaten. I’m just so amazed at how they know just how much to put in the burrito. The outside is crunchy from a light toast, which adds to the flavor. I also enjoy the tostada, because their salad portion is just awesome here. The dinner plate with the carne asada is also great; the meat is flavorful and the rice is good. Their nachos are pretty good as well because they keep them warm and bland so you can dip it in whatever sauce you want. Service: Nice people here, they all treat you with respect and they are all pretty fast. The speed to get the food out is so pressured at lunch time when all the students have their 1 hour lunch before classes start again, and it’s nice that the workers here are fast and acccomodates that. Environment/Location: It’s located on campus, and in the school food court, so it’s convenient for all us students who go to the campus… Overall: 4⁄5 I’ve eaten a steak burrito for lunch every day for the last 3 weeks before my winter break and I have not gotten sick of it. In fact, I’m wanting one right now…
