I personally thought the dduk here was pretty good/fresh and wonderfully chewy. I came on a weekend afternoon and left with too many dduk goodies. They are priced around $ 4-$ 6/container. *Tip for mujigae dduk(the rainbow colored block): You should still lightly microwave it in the oven covered with a damp papertowel for 20 seconds(or more depending on how much you wanna eat). It just gives it «freshly steamed» taste!!! SOGOODMYFRIENDS.

Had a immense craving for rice cakes and this place satisfied it well. I could tell they were fresh and the lady who served me was soo nice and explained to me how they make the rice cakes and bonus– theyre vegan! I got two containers, which in total was $ 10 but it was alot! If your nearby you need to check this place out its in a little mall on the first floor.

the surly lady behind the register makes the experience a little blah but pick up 20 boxes of dduk and see her face light up the dduk is pretty bomb too

Wished they listed price on the items… but got kimbap for $ 4.50 and it was okay… Tasted bland & felt like they put too much rice and so little meat in it! Glad I finally tried this place out but probably not going to come back.

Overpriced and overrated! The Korean lady didn’t bother greeting me as I walked in nor did she offer any help. The rice cakes were extreeemely chewy and pretty bland. Save your money and go elsewhere!

I came here super last-minute before heading to my MIL’s for Christmas Eve dinner. The shop was bustling with those just like me, who were looking for last minute snacks/gift ideas to take home to their families. I showed the owner a photo of a gift box of how I wanted my dduk to be arranged and she was able to put together a beautiful creation within minutes. As a tip, if you’re ordering a fancy gift box for your loved ones, I recommend coming early(the day of) so the dduk is nice and fresh and all of your choices are still available. I will be coming here every time I need dduk gifts for my family!

I went there to get the rainbow ricecake as a house party gift — They were out of the rainbow cakes, but the white baeksulgee and other crunchy nut/sesame seed snack bars got good reviews from my non-Korean friends. The lady(not sure if she was the owner) was not that friendly though… very dismissive attitude :/That definitely will affect my consideration for future visits/purchases.

They make the best dduk! My wife knew about this place and took me here. The duck was the best ever. It was very fresh and delicious. They have many varieties. I will be back here again to buy more.

Best place for rice cakes! I’ve been coming here forever, so I know they cook their rice cakes(dduk) fresh everyday. Try all of them! I really love them all!

Oh my~ probably the most stale Yoo-Gwa I purchased! It’s hard and smells like ginger. Bought it for my grandma. she loves yoo gwa but she refuses to eat it-its hard as a rock! It went straight to the trash. It was not cheap either– $ 8

Super small and tidy space(: its located in the koreatown plaza I believe? Free parking on the weekends woot woot! It is located next to M music plaza! They have a pretty large variety of tteok! My friend bought me their mujigae? Aka rainbow rice cake! It was pretty interesting. I’ve never tried tteok before and I was so suprised at how dense it was! It really doesn’t have an overpowering taste at all! But I enjoyed eating it. I really want to come back and try some other tteoj!(: the ahjumma is really nice too(:

Delicious. Love that they had a 10%off of $ 100 order through Unilocal.Their dduk is seriously so chewy, soft and full of flavor. Would recommend this place if you are looking for a dduk place for parties, dohl, church, whatever.

I just had the best experience there. I wanted dduk for daughters 1st birthday. My husband and I went there to order it. The people there were incredibly patient and helpful(even though we don’t speak Korean). When they asked when we needed it, I told them the party was in the morning so could I pick it up the night before. The woman who makes them looked horrified and explained dduk is not good the next day and asked what time we needed it by. I told her we lived far away so we would need it by 8:00. She just paused for a second and said she would open the store early and make them that morning for us. I couldn’t believe it! So for my daughters 1st birthday, we had the freshest and amazingly delicious dduk. Thank you so much for making the day that more special for our family.

Best dduk in LA! There are so many varieties and they all have the perfect combo of flavor and soft, pillowy, chewy texture. My favorites are the moojigae(rainbow) dduk and the sool(wine) dduk which is lightly fermented. The thing I always get here is the finger kimbap which is the ideal healthy lunch to eat on the run. Spinach, carrots, pickled radish, and egg in a deliciously seasoned bundle of rice. And it’s vegan!

The lady who answered my call said«you’re wasting my time. I am so busy.» after I asked couple of questions to order the rice cakes for my daughter’s birthday. It really pissed me out.

Rainbow rice cakemixture of colored rice flour and sugar in a siru(an earthen steamer).[1] It is used for special occasions such as a banquet, party, or feast like doljanchi(celebrating a baby’s first birthday), hwangap(celebrating 60 years old people’s birthday), or gyeolhon janchi(wedding party).-source wiki Stop in and try the rainbow rice cakes and help support a small business that specializes in traditional Korean treats.

Best mujigae dduk(rainbow rice cake, if you even know what that is) in Koreatown. You won’t want to settle for the impulse-buy ones next to the checkout lines at random Korean markets anymore after trying these. Btw: I just discovered that you can just steam the rice cakes to get them warm and moist again!(AKA the answer to the age-old question of what to do when you have leftover rainbow rice cake that has gotten too dry and brittle by the end of the day.) Obviously, I’m obsessed.

I love Poong Nyun Bakery! As a local small business, Poong Nyun is truly the whole package — its rice cakes are delicious, service is great, and the owner truly cares about the community. The business has been owned and run by a family of 3 generations for the past 26 years, and it is businesses like this that keep our native cultures alive in the US. Recently, I needed a business owner to be interviewed at a children’s literacy program, and the owner was so kind and gracious enough to not only fill our order on short notice but also to spend her Saturday morning being interviewed by children about Korean rice cakes. Most of the children were not Korean and they loved the rice cakes! In addition to 18 different types of rice cakes, Poong Nyun also sells sesame oil, kimbab, other Korean snacks, and shikkae slushy(sweet rice punch). Delicious! 5 stars!!~

Tteok is my weakness… Everytime i visit Koreatown LA, i always have to get my tteok. I had a little trouble finding the place, due to my ignorance of being unaware that the store was inside the market place. I walked inside and liked the interior and presentation of the tteok. Everything was organized and packaged well. I got the ssuk tteok and the tteok thats covered in black bean… There’s something about LA tteok that just makes it taste better than Dallas’. I wish they had Gyeongdan but oh wells. Poong Nyun Bakery makes some of the best Tteok in Koreatown… This place and Seoul Bakery are my go-to places.

Really good dduk that is fresh and authentic. It has several different types and on Sunday they sell what they make. If they run out which they normally do, then you’re out of luck. My mother in law especially likes this place bc they sell a lot of brown rice and«healthier» rice cakes. Located on the first floor of ktown plaza it is a really small place that ia probably the size of a large elevator. They do accept credit card.
