There’s only maybe a handful of good skate and surf shops in the LA area. Off the top of my head, there’s Xtreme (Koreatown and Culver City), Collective (Koreatown), and Streets of Venice (Culver City). But not a lot of people know about this hidden gem: Planet Maple. On Washington and Palm Grove lies this gray building with the sign «Skate Shop» on the side. That’s Planet Maple. Go inside and it doesn’t look all that great but don’t be fooled by the visuals. They have new boards from DGK, boards from independent artists, and even their own Planet Maple boards. The owners, Dave and WIll, are extremely friendly and helpful. When I went in, Will was fixing a bike and Dave was fixing a board for free. They even have their own Planet Maple Skate team. Pretty crazy. Nice owners, great selection, and friendly atmosphere. Definitely will come back again.
