Rory is a hair wizard. Truly. She liberated the wave and life out of my boring straight hair, and understands how to get the best out of the hair you have rather than trying to pretend it is something different. She really listens to what I want, even when that is a totally vague thing like, «I want it to be summer. I want it to be not this.» She is amazing, I love her, and you will too.

Words can’t describe how much I love this place! Ask for Duke Snyder. He is an absolute genius not to mention he’s a stylist to the stars! I was referred to him from my client that had been seeing him for years. I went to see him for a blonde color correction and an extensions consult. My hair was orange, thin and stringy.
Talk about a pro… Duke gave me a full consult and fixed my blonde to the perfect shade. I’m a natural brunette. I left looking like I could book a playboy shoot! His prices are incredibly affordable compared to the bills I’ve paid at other salons. Super chic and welcoming atmosphere. I’ve already booked my next appointment. Seriously spreading the word about this salon and referring all my clients and friends to Duke!

This might be an awesome salon but I’ll never know. I left two messages to make an appointment and no one called me back. Also tried to book online and didn’t get a response for 5 days.

Hector is amazing I absolutely love him! After seeing his salon listed in Allure magazine’s top hair cut places in LA, I had to go and am so glad I did. I have never been so happy with a haircut and I have been to a LOT of people! Hands down the best I will definitely be going back again.

I never let anyone touch my hair other than my hairstylist I’ve been going to for years. I decided to let Hector work his magic. I gave up control and let him take over. He cut my dead split ends and gave me golden highlights! I’m a red head and was afraid to look pale. I love them!!! I love the place! I love him! He is great at what he does. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Worth the hour commute.

After a year of research and mustering the courage to committing to a hair transformation, I decided to make an appointment. After reading all the raving reviews, I chose PLAID. I was excited I had an appointment with Hector, who I was a huge fan of his work on Bye Felicia. I was welcomed with smiles and made to feel @ home. I was a little nervous it would be a fancy fufu salon. But the team was so down to earth and I made my experience fun. Once I sat and chatted with Hector, I knew with confidence that my hair was in good hands. My hopes was to walk out as a renewed updated woman. I am blown freaking away! When I saw my hair, I had no idea my hair could ever look like this. I’m still speechless and words could never describe my gratitude for my hair transformation. I will so be back.
It’s been just over a week with my new hair. Everyday I have had received compliments on my hair. It has been so liberating to have cut off my long layers after 14 years. It was as if Hector cut off all the drama I had been though and awaken new me. So bye Felicia and thank you Hector for helping light my fire again! My new hair has come with a new determined confident attitude :) Bye Bye old me and Hellur 2015!

Uhhh just love this place. I’ve waited so long to find to my hair place in this town. I am in love with Steven. I want to keep him all to myself but I am just so compelled to sing his praises because he deserves every bot of it. I always get so many compliments from his work and he lets me be a Chatty Cathy without feeling weird about it.
The studio is cute and unpretentious and the other clients seem cool and comfortable in there, like this place is LA’s version of Barber Shop.
Love the atmosphere and other people I’ve met this far, but Steven, his scissor skills, and down to earth attitude are the factors that have totally locked me in!

Marcy Harmon is a genius!!! She used to be at Hairroin– she’s here now. Best color in LA, vibrant and natural. This salon has a friendly, laid back vibe that is a nice change to the normal Hollywood scene.

I followed Marcy here from another salon as I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do my hair after almost five years. She has seen me through some hair emergencies (not her fault), and I love my cut and color. I have really thin, fine hair and she gives me just enough layers. Super natural looking and easy to take care of on my own. Grows out well and I always look forward to going back.

Renato is fantastic! I used to think it really didn’t matter where I got my hair cut — it kinda always looked the same. Then I saw Renato, and it was magical. My hair no longer required the week-​long, awkward grow out, getting used to it phase, and it continued to look fly for weeks.
On top of that, Renato is super fun to talk to. Let’s be real, personality is huge when you’re hostage in a chair. I miss him and his infectious laugh terribly!

This review is for Marcy. I’m new to Los Angeles from Australia and after seeing the same hairdresser at home for many many years it was a daunting task finding someone new in LA.
Marcy was highly recommended by a trusted friend and I was very excited to learn she was at Plaid Studio very close to my house. The salon is simple and streamline, parking was easy and I felt very comfy as I waited for my first appointment.
It’s been 7 weeks since that first cut and colour and I can honestly say it’s the BEST cut I’ve ever ever had. And it still looks great as it’s growing out. The colour is, by choice, a very natural brown to hide the greys which had previously been coloured badly and Marcy brought my dull brassy hair back to life.
I can’t wait to see Marcy again.

He really knows hair, especially Asian hair. He cut my hair so it was always easy to maintain and the layers were well cut. In addition, he always made getting my haircut a great experience.
In addition, he does hair for special occasions. He did the hair for the bride and bridesmaids for my sister’s wedding and everyone commented on how beautiful all the girls’ hair looked!
I can’t say it enough, Renato is the best!

Go see Renato. He cut my hair for something like 4 years in SF. It always looked great. Over the course of our relationship, he offered great suggestions that slowly helped me move from a little-​bit-​dorky cut to something that fit me much better.
I looked forward to seeing Renato. I’d sit down, say, «what you did last time», and we’d have a good conversation, get some dumb laughs and I’d be out.
I am super sad he moved to LA. My hair is getting long now and I’m dreading having to find another person.
Oh, also, he always rinsed my hair after the cut! None of my previous hair dressers would do that.

Renato is absolutely the best! The worst thing that ever happened to my hair is that this bright young star moved from the Bay to LA for bigger and better things. Renato is a visionary who makes my hair fabulous! He is an artist who speaks to every single curl on my head, shaping them and convincing them to be gorgeous. Renato used to shave a new artistic design on the short side of my hair every other week. Renato is an artist. Do your self a favor and let him manage your hair for life.

Emillyann is one of few girls in Los Angeles that offers shellac — AMAZING. It’s way better than gel, apparently it’s a hybrid between polish and gel, no drilling or über harsh chemicals on your nails.
Prices start at $ 35 for shellac mani, if you go after 6 PM there’s tons of FREE legal yellow loading zone parking available! She’s super flexible with her schedule too.
HIGHLY recommended will be doing my nails here regularly :) Thanks Emillyann!

If there were a zero stars category, this one would get it. Not because of their ability to style hair, but because of the inability of anyone getting out of bed to make it to the shop on time.
I made an 11:00am appointment to see someone named «Steve» the week before. Great. I made certain to get myself down there on time and not waste his time idling away waiting for a new client.
I walked up to a shuttered business. No movement inside. The lights were off. I waited 10 minutes. No one showed up. Cherokee Avenue is not somewhere you want to loiter around. After about the third person picking through the garbage I thought 10 minutes was enough. I called and left a message that I was there and that I believed they had, without notification, canceled.
Now if there is one big caveat in business it’s that you never, ever, leave a customer waiting. If you want to stay in business, you don’t drive them away with slipshod business practices (that attitude took down historic Hollywood Park). In other words, you get out of bed and get to work on time.
I generally avoid Hollywood service businesses because of this lazy attitude. Again I was proved right. Steve couldn’t get out of bed to get to the salon on time for what he probably thought was going to be a dye job too boring to be worth his bother. This person might be a great stylist, but he’s no professional.
