I’ve been coming here since they opened 4 years ago 3 – 4 times a week. I love it! I’ve had classes with all the teachers and they are all wonderful and unique with different and a range of techniques to suite all types of regimes. They also offer many other classes(ballet, contortion, gyrokenisis, jump board) and have art events and parties every two months featuring local artists and bands. I highly recommend checking out a class or coming to an event!

Love this place! I started taking pilates classes here a couple months ago and am already seeing changes in my body’s strength, posture and flexibility. I mix it up with the teachers and have loved them all. So far I have taken Tannis, Amanda, Erica, Dylan and Eric and all are knowledgeable and are very attentive to individual needs. The studio has a great atmosphere and everyone is very friendly… a great place to get in shape… mind and body. Oh, and there is always parking!

I love Pilates and Arts in Echo Park. I am what you call an ADD exercise enthusiast, meaning that I will get really excited about exercise for about a month before slacking off completely. Ever since I started doing Pilates at the end of May, that’s changed completely. I come here 4 times a week, and I’m never bored. I feel really good, and my body is changing in ways I didn’t even think were possible!(HIABS) The teachers are amazing, Tannis the owner is a magical fairy who will keep you entertained even when she’s pushing your abs to the max. The studio is beautiful and well lit, and there’s always parking.

This place is fantastic. It’s easy to go and the workout is great. I’ve been going for two months and i’m already seeing a big difference. I was new to Pilates began with the $ 150 special for three private lessons, which I would recommend to anyone starting out. After that I had a seamless transition into group classes with all of the different instructors, where I am really enjoying all of the variety. Each instructor has their own approach and technique which is a lot of fun. I highly recommend trying them all. All in all the practice has a really positive and focused vibe. The whole studio emanates Dance, Art, and Pilates — which are the owners three favorite things. Some special magic happens when a small business owner throws all of her passions into one place. Go ahead and try it, you’ll be glad you did.

i went back for my 2nd class! if you read my previous review, you know that i am a HUGE fan of jasmine. sooo, i was a little disappointed to meet a substitute. BUT, that disappointment lasted only mere moments! phil, whom typically teaches beginner ballet monday evenings, was the sub and HEWASAWESOME! from my beginner standpoint, i would say that jasmine’s class is more of a workout. and phil focuses on technique. phil gave such beautifully motivating peptalks. he is a retired professional ballet dancer from NY and studied under a well-known instructor. again, i was smiling the whole time. it was a fantastic experience! i’m kind of glad that i work monday nights or i’d be torn about what class to go to. i really feel that i could equally benefit from taking both classes(i’ll work on my finances to help make this situation possible). i really TRULY recommend taking ballet with both instructors at this lovely studio. I WILLBEBACKANDBACKANDBACK!

I’ve been taking reformer and mat Pilates with Tannis for the last month and have been loving every minute of it! The studio: super grounded neighborhood studio with a beautifully relaxed vibe. I love taking a class on my day off and then eating at one of the cute little restaurants nearby. I can only speak for Tannis’s class, the work can be intense but she has such a laid back and someone used the word whimsical which is a great way to describe her! She’s very intelligent and knows just how exactly to create a perfectly well balanced class!

This soulful pilates studio is incredible! It’s a gem among gems. I found this studio off the glowing Unilocal reviews and had to try it. It was my first time at the reformer and I’ve fallen in love. The myriad of instructors each bring a unique energy to the practice. The owner, Tannis is amazing and full of life. Her classes are fun, silly, and energetic. Anastasia is precise, sweet and takes time to nurture individually. Dylan brings a cool sensitive flare with attention to detail to her classes. All of the instructors are lovely and very knowledgeable. HIGHLY recommend trying this vibrant studio that encourages community and art, while you elongate your muscles. Enjoy!

Love this place because first and foremost it’s literally in my front yard but also because of the teachers and the amount of attention I get when I come in. I’ve tried a couple different places in this area and I have to say that the instructors here are very much so into correct form and helping you heal all the way thru. I can’t say enough about this place and am always trying to spread the word. Not only is it a Pilates studio, but also a dance studio in the back. I can always find something worth getting up early for. They are small and personable and I enjoy every instructor there. Highly recommended.

Tanis and all of the staff are the best. Great Pilates studio in the echo park neighborhood. I can walk or run to class. Anastasia is amazing for personal sessions her attention to detail of posture and healing from injuries is super on point. I’ve been doing Pilates for 3 years and going here since I moved to echo park 8months ago. And I won’t go anywhere else they are so legit. They also have art on the walls and other classes and art openings. Truly a gem of the hood! Go get that Pilates body already!

I love this place. I have been searching for a place to work on my hours for pilates teacher training after a horrible experience with Core Conditioning, so I’ve been taking classes in the Sliverlake/Los Feliz/LA area to get a feeling for where else I’d like to try. When I saw how cool and artistic this place looked from the outside, I almost got hit by a car and the inside is even better — its an ultra creative space with a personal touch. I took one great advance reformer class, which really worked me out. Then I came back for a Latin Dance class on a saturday morning(and may I add some of the cool quirky places to eat on the street make for a lovely saturday morning) and then I asked to rent one of the reformers. It was great to get advice from Tannis and be able to pick her brain. She rents out all the reformers to teachers and people training — this is something that is hard to find! I’m really excited to have a found a place where I feel like I can talk about pilates and the training process and take some great classes.

Just had the best pilates class of my life with Cameron at Pilates and Arts. Very cool place, he was so detailed and caring and I got immediate results. I had a groupon so i got a great deal too.

This place is an absolute gem. I started doing Pilates last year to whip myself into shape for my wedding, and now I’m thoroughly hooked. I adore Pilates & Arts and have completely fallen in love with pilates thanks to Tannis and her team! Tannis, the owner, is a gifted instructor herself; she’s energetic, whimsical and encouraging. She just bubbles over with energy. Like… I think she might be a wizard. She’s kind of magic. Her mat class on Friday morning is one of the highlights of my week. The space itself is awesome. Lots of light, high ceilings – very clean and bright. Add in some wonderful, warm instructors, beautiful equipment, attentive instruction, cool local art – and you’ve got Pilates & Arts! I’m a huge fan of both reformer and mat pilates, and would wholeheartedly recommend both here(as well as the many superfun Branch classes). I know, I know; «Pilates is expensive…» But this place? It’s worth every single penny. You’re investing in your body and well-being, and supporting a really special local business in the process. You get so much more than you pay for with this place. You won’t be disappointed!(And the best part? You get a great bod in the process.) *A little advice for beginners: before jumping into group reformer classes, get yourself acquainted with the process and equipment by doing a few private classes first. There’s a three-class intro special that I would definitely recommend – that’s what I did way back in the day. It really got me ready so I was comfortable and part of the flow once I started group classes.* Honestly, I don’t know where I’d be without this place. P&A is one of Echo Park’s hidden treasures that I’ve really come to cherish. It’s truly a joy attending classes here and I look forward to many more years of pilates! **One last little note… As you might have noticed, I’m a devoted fan of this place. As a result, I’ve taken classes from almost every single instructor here. I know whenever I start classes somewhere new, I always have a little fear of the unknown/teacher trepidation. So, for all you curious newcomers, here’s the lowdown on the other teachers so you can book your classes without fear… + Anastasia – attentive, deeply knowledgeable, and grounding. Her Sunday mat class at noon is a must! + Stephanie – thorough, thoughtful, and observant. She makes you very aware of yourself(in a good way). Great teacher. + Dylan – quirky and fun, but not afraid to challenge you. Her jump board class is not to be missed!(All the benefits of a regular reformer class + great cardio.) + Katie – upbeat, kind, perceptive, and straight-up awesome. She’s only at P&A on Sundays, and her classes are always a treat! + Elizabeth – friendly, very aware, and empathetic. She has a deep knowledge of anatomy and movement and it comes through in her classes. + Eric – extensively knowledgable and very much a gentleman, but get ready to WORK! He’ll whip you into shape.

This place rocks! My husband and I have been coming here since January and we absolutely love it. Being new to the pilates reformer, we weren’t sure what to expect. Since we started, both of us have noticed a significant difference in our postures, energy levels, and strength. I always feel safe and all of the instructors know how to make exercising fun! Not to mention, it’s a pleasure to look at artwork while you workout! Tannis, the owner, is a pleasure to be around and really has a great thing going with this gem of a studio! Every instructor here offers something different and they all are great! I’ve also been to some classes at the branch(connected to the studio) and I highly recommend trying them out as well.

I was hesitant to write this review because I didn’t want to share this secret. This is the best Pilates studio I’ve ever been to. I came to pilates & arts because I bought a Groupon and thought I’d try it. I haven’t had much luck finding a solely pilates studio in LA that I like. Too many are some kind of fusion classes, and I like more traditional pilates. I hit the jackpot here. The group classes I took involved some mat work at the beginning and end, but we spent most of the time on the reformer, which I love. It really adds an extra layer of fun for me. Each group class felt more like a semi-private since you can only have as many people as there are reformers — 5 I think. About half the classes I took had no more than 3 people, though. The instructors are all great with their own personalities and styles. They’re all very attentive and really work with you to correct your technique. This studio also offers a ton of dance classes ranging from ballet to zumba and other practices, but I haven’t taken them. The location is really lovely, right in the heart of Echo Park in a primarily residential area. There isn’t a parking lot, but street parking was never really a problem.

Great place! I’ve tried reformer pilates at my gym and wasn’t particularly satisfied. What I love about Pilates & Arts is that there are several instructors you can work with. They each have their own style and it was fun being challenged. Tannis is very aware of your strengths and limitations. Dylan really targeted those problem areas. Eric is CHALLENGING, but well worth it. And Katie incorporates a lot of variety. I’m sure the others are great too. I love the group sessions, but you can also signup for private ones. Street parking is pretty convenient.

Tannis is absolutely amazing. I purchased a groupon for 10 lessons with her, and it was more than worth it. I went in recovering from a very painful knee injury, and she helped me strengthen all of the muscles needed to take the tension off my knee. I noticed a huge difference from just one session a week. I highly recommend her!

Pilates & Arts &DANCE!!! Want authentic Haitian Zumba? Gotta take my Voodoo Chile, the awesome Ms. Nahdi Bivins! When this mother of two has you gyrate to «Reggaeton Transalicious,» you gonna be so mega-nasty! She liberates your torso! Your pelvis groans, «Thank you!» One hour NON-STOP(don’t ya hate it when bogus teachers spend five minutes teaching a step, then 30 seconds of dance? The extended water-bottle break? Lame. Sheesh, adíos cardio high…) Nahdi’s choreography is the perfect combo of fluid and easy to follow, yet mentally engaging and physically challenging. You sweat, you push yourself, you get better each time. Don’t worry if you can’t shimmy your shoulders and swivel your booty – simultaneously – while your feet do the samba. Keep a-comin’! I’ve been doing cardio dance in various forms since Jane Fonda and Karen Voight! I know whereof I speak and I demand the best and Nahdi’s it! Oh, oh, oh, and her tunes really pump the excitement and make you wanna bump, jump, grind and holler! There’s never one that kills the energy, not even the cool-down. Yeah, I’ve been a Nadhi groupie for half a year and followed her to this studio. And the studio? Outstanding sound system, gorgeous site(art, bucolic courtyard), an honest-to-goodness blasting a/c AND overhead fans, CLEAN bathroom – even the paper towel holder is an objet d’art! Kudos to Tannis for the most beautiful spot in town. All this, and 3 blocks up the street from my digs in E.P. As of this writing, $ 8 for a walk-in, or 5-pack for $ 25.(Zumba only at these prices). You canNOT get a Zumba diva for $ 5 anywhere on the planet, so jive on down and get your voodoo on!

Tannis is such a joy to work with that I had to write her a review, even if I haven’t finished my sessions. My first session was with Alexa, but because I got the start time wrong and was 30mins late, I wasn’t able to attend :(That first night, the curtained were shut and the lights were very dim… seemed like a very serene class. I guess everyone has their own style of teaching. The next day, I attended Tannis’ class and the lights were turned on(not too bright or dark). More my style. My friends who attended the class the day before also enjoyed Tannis’ class more. Tannis was very hands on, corrected us, and cracked me up. Sometimes you need a little bit of humor when you’re doing hard exercises to keep you motivated. The location of the studio is pretty easy to get to and close to the 2 and 101 fwy. Stick with Sunset, Scott, and Echo Park Blvd to get here if you’re afraid of heights :) I took a bunch of small random streets the first night and driving through all of Echo Parks’ hills was a bit scary for me. Parking is on the street. Come a little early to find parking.

Tannis is a real joy as a teacher. She’s warm, caring and funny. This is not a solemn quiet class – if you’re laughing, you’re breathing! The studio looks like it’s in Marin or Big Sur, rather than a few miles from a freeway.
