Last week I needed to order seafood for a born and bred Hawaiian couple that recently moved to the US. I made the sin of planning a Hawaiian dinner for 2 people that had been born and raised on Maui-What was I thinking??? I had used Catalina seafood before and had been pleased with the quality of their product but it has become a little pricey and has shipping costs locally. I Googled«Tobiko LA Area Free Shipping» and up popped Pete’s Seafood Club. It was Sunday night so I filled out my order online and used PayPal for the payment. I called the next day and was greeted by Angela(Marketing Assistant) I explained that I had a dinner set for Wednesday night and asked if they could deliver by then(I live in Simi Valley), Angela explained that their normal deliveries for home sales are on Thursdays but since I needed on Wednesday she would make it happen. Yesterday(Wednesday the shipment arrived at 2:30 in plenty of time for prep and cooking. The container was 2″ thick Styrofoam containing 36“x 8“x 1″ freezer packs layer between the seafood and topped with a 10 «x 10“well-wrapped dry ice pack then sealed closed. I could have left this carton outside for a week and every thing inside would still be frozen! The Ahi Tuna filets were beautiful; firm, moist but not slimy, odorless, no bloodline and odorless. The Tobiko was sealed in vacuum jar and with perfect color, size and flavor, Black mussel fresh frozen and las large as you find in green lipped mussels, and Wakame seaweed salad crisp, bright green with sesame and a slight sweetness to balance the slight bitterness of the seaweed. My Hawaiian friends stated that they could have done no better on Maui. They truly enjoyed the Ahi Poke, Kahlua Pork, Lau Lau, Mango Pineapple BBQ Sauce, Sushi rice, and Jasmine rice. Thank you Pete’s Seafood Club for giving a great dinner welcome to my friends visiting on the mainland. You have a new repeat customer
