I grew up literally 3 blocks away from this store so my mother would always send me to buy whatever she needed. Maria and her husband, the owners, are really nice people they’re super friendly. This store is cute. Would have given it a 5 star cause of all the memories. I hadn’t been here for about 3 years now since I moved away. I stopped by today and it was just as I remembered it. The lady from the bakery is still there. She is VERY rude. I didn’t even bother stopping by. She is ALWAYS on the phone and does not pay attention to you at all. I remember once I ordered a slice of cheesecake bread but from the center because I didn’t want the crust and she said no lmao because«it’s given out by the piece that comes next» lmao like wtf?! I’m paying for it lady! Anyway, maybe I’m just bitter for not getting my cheesecake bread from when I was a child.

I give it a 4 out of 5 stars, mainly because the bakery lady doesn’t know a thing about customer service! I love the owners of this store! They’re very nice, mostly the wife, the husband is a bit quiet but still very friendly! Great little market! They have a meat section with a great choice of chicharones!

I’m reviewing this place primarily for the bakery, El Quetzal, which is inside this market. The quesadillas are by far the best I’ve tried. Tastes how it should: moist and a lil cheesy. I had to take a a star off because the cashier lady seems to always be on the phone. FYI: Actual bakery is on 7th/Hoover.

A great mom and pop market right across from papa cristos. They have a nice meat market with lots of cheese choices. They also have a small bakery near the entrance. It’s one of the bigger Latin meat markets around. They also sell fresh cooked pork and pork rinds. It’s one of better Latin markets in Los Angeles and I have tried many!

I simply give it 4 stars because of the sweet bread section. It’s been the same lady who has sold the bread for years. I wouldn’t recommend the meat department.

Located in the Ballantine Latino district, this market cater to the local neighborhood. Yes, they sell ghetto brewsky and wine too! Just like the other reviewers mentioned.

This is a neighborhood market. They sell Boones Strawberry Hill and Colt 45 here. They also sell meat. You will be able to use your Spanish speaking skills here… or in some cases, Spanglish, it worked for me. Do you really need to know anything else about it? Didn’t think so.
