The choices are incredible and service impeccable. One of the few remaining places to get carbolite in LA. Flavors change every two days and they have non dairy sugar free nonfat low fat and regular yogurt plus amazing ice cream. Their frozen yogurt pies and cakes are beautiful and healthy. Easy on site free parking and great co tenants. The owners are lovely too

For many years now, Penguins has been my preferred neighborhood ice cream shop. Their quality and customer service are great. Plus, they carry Santa Barbara Ice Cream. Haven’t seen that anywhere else in LA. SB ice cream is delicious… And for a former Santa Barbarian, this is a big deal!

This is my go-to frozen yogurt shop. Penguin’s is always well maintained and clean, which makes for an relaxing and an enjoyable ambiance. Their yogurt is consistently creamy and their flavors are spot on. I wouldn’t recommend going anywhere else and I’ve been going here for over 5 years now. The owner is also so incredibly sweet and she greets her customers whenever she’s stopping by. Consistent service, consistent amazing flavors, and good prices for their quality of yogurt! By far my favorite frozen yogurt location. Highly recommend!

I don’t know if it’s the amazing yogurt, the machines used, or both — but a product that is the most incredible creaminess ever assembled. While not my favorite yogurt place for ambiance and energy, not a hang-out place — it is, however, near the tippy-top favorite yogurt place for the actual yogurt itself. In fact, all Penguin’s Yogurt shops are a dying breed. This is not the first shop to open, but it’s likely one of the oldest existing locations. At its height, 123 stores(mostly in California). In 1991, Ch11 Bankruptcy protection was filed and the demise had begun. This location serves Carbolite, a very light low-carb version of yogurt: 1 oz has 10 cals and 1 carb. While not as good as the standard types/flavors, it’s very good for what it is. Long live Penguins!

I love this place. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in all of Los Angeles! The main reason is the people — they’re always kind and sweet, and that’s something very special when you’re going for a pick-me-up like frozen yogurt. And what froyo! :) The flavors are always tasty, with several carbolite choices. You really can’t go wrong!

McConnell’s Ice Cream is being sold here!!! I love the Santa Barbara Ice Cream company and was so excited to see it when we stepped in here. Of course, Penguins fro-yo is awesome and always hits the spot, tasting so differently than Yogurtland.

This place has some good options and is usually my go to if Big Chills line is out the door. Like with any place, you’re at the mercy of the options for the day and if you even like those options. So in my opinion, frozen yogurt places should always get a second chance as long as the place is clean and service is friendly.

Great frozen yogurt/ice cream shop for those a fan of Bigg Chill but not a fan of the lines/horrible parking. There’s lots of more options here and it’s nice to get in and out without the large crowds. My only wish was that the employees were a bit more pleasant — we came in hours before closing but they didn’t seemed too pleased to serve us.

OK… first of all this place has Carbolite one of the greatest inventions of our time. It also has a lot of other high-quality delicious frozen yogurts/ice creams. toppings, etc. all the yogurty bells and whistles. The sweetest people work there who work really hard to take good care of you quickly and with a smile.(I hope they are paid well. they really deserve it!) The prices are great, the portions are generous, they take cash checks or cc’s, and they have a rewards plan. What?!? It’s true. There is plenty of parking and… Here is the best part… There are NO lines!!! (Unlike a certain yogurt place across the street who’s name I won’t mention…) If I could give this place 10 stars I would. (Note to self: Buy shares of Carbolite)

I love coming here especially when it’s 90 degrees outside as it was today. The store is always clean and the employees always friendly. I like getting the Carbolite because I have much less guilt ordering a medium or large sized and still be able to hit the pool later on that day. There’s always plenty of parking in front and underground as well.

Came here while my pookie is being examined at the pet hospital to eat my feelings. Best frozen yogurt and service ever. Mary was attentive and kind and patiently gave me a whopping 4 samples before I decided on peanut butter and another mix of raspberry and the cheesecake. They were both so delicious best frozen yogurt ever. The genuine friendly staff especially Mary made such a difference as I am really stressed about my pooch. Highly recommend this place

My goto place for frozen yogurt. They have a variety of rotating flavors that include lowfat, nonfat, Carbolite, and nondairy. There is also McConnell’s ice cream. The yogurt is creamy and not overly sweet. Peanut Butter is my favorite. The place is clean and I prefer that it is not self-setve. The servers are always friendly and patient about providing samples prior to selection.

From the outside this place looks unassuming, however, on the insider it is everything that you want it to be. Lots of toppings, decent amount of flavors, things assembled aesthetically and of course decent customer service.

I thought that all the Penguins were closed, so to see that there was one still around made me super excited. I used to go with my mother when I was much younger. They were the thing before Yogurtland took over the business with a wave of self serve chains of froyo. I feel like penguins always had a standard of being higher quality product than the self serve places. However maybe it was jut fond memories because I was kinda disjointed with what I retrieved. Yeah its a little more expensive too, especially if you want toppings. They do give you quite a bit above the brim tho. Be careful if you need a lid, cuz its gunna get smushed.

Ehh the yogurt here was kinda blah. Service was good, staff was nice. But they charge per topping and doesn’t taste good enough for the money.

The high reviews for this place and Pasadena location is only because of their Peanut Butter flavor! Man oh man who does not love peanut butter?! This location has a decent size lot. Inside is small with a few seats and maybe 1 or 2 tables outside. Service is great and always nice. If you get a small size with toppings they put it in a bigger cup to add the toppings so makes you feel like your getting more :) They also have ice cream as well. Good selections of toppings to choose from. The flavors vary so sometime I call ahead of time to see what they have. They have sugar cones as well as big waffle cones that are also dipped in nuts and chocolate! _Peanut Butter. Yeah this is the holy grail and the reason I come to Penguins. Hands down best frozen yogurt peanut butter. The first bite is a nice roasted and fresh peanut flavor without having that cheap artificial peanut butter taste. Creamy and rich, this is a great flavor to get if you love peanut butter. _Ghiradelli Chocolate. This is okay. At first its good but the more you eat it, its start to taste a bit artificial and the aftertaste leaves you feeling unsatisfied for that rich chocolate flavor you desire. _Cookies and Cream. I prefer Pinkberry Cookies and cream better. But nothing beats cookies and cream when it comes to actual ice cream. Frozen yogurt does not seem to really cut it yet with cookies and cream. This tasted a bit watery. A bit of cardboard like flavor if that makes sense. A definite artificial taste. _Oatmeal cookie. I was not feeling this flavor. First to last bite had an artificial taste and tasted way too sweet. It did taste like oatmeal cookie but I’d rather have the real deal cookie even though its more calories at least it tastes better. Overall most flavors here do taste artifical because lots of them are«low-fat» «non fat» and such. But the Peanut Butter is their best flavors. I always get that with almond toppings and peanut butter cups!

My Go-To Fro Yo spot! I love the Carbolite and Dream Delite flavors… no sugar, low carbs, no guilt! They also carry non fat, low fat, tart and non dairy flavors and McConnell’s ice cream. Flavors switch up every few days which keeps it fresh and interesting. If you sign up for their emails the new flavors will be sent to you every couple of days. This helps me plan my visits. If chocolate hazelnut, peanut butter or oatmeal cookie are in you better believe I’ll be there! –Parking is easy in the strip mall and there is underground just in case too. –Service is not very interactive but not bad. The little asian lady and the guys are really nice and will give you as many samples as you’d like. –Lots of fresh toppings –Prices are good for the amount you get. Slightly cheaper then Bigg Chill. — Get the Belly Up card/app and start earning your way to free toppings or fro-yo

After a long long day and a big disappointment after coloring my hair, I needed something to cheer me up. My bf and I were stuck in traffic on the way to go home and stumbled upon this frozen yogurt shop… it was AMAZING! Parking was super easy(basement) and FREE! I love how they have customer service to help you. I’m not so into those self serve froyo places like the yogurtland where you have everyone’s hands touching those handles and toppings. Don’t know where there hands have been! Place is like a small mom and pop shop and really cute. For the flavors, I tried their Strawberry, Peanut Butter, Cookies and Cream and Ghiradelli Chocolate. They were ALL delicious, but then noticed that they had McConnell’s Santa Barbara Ice Cream! AWESOME! If none of you have heard of McConnell’s Santa Barbara Ice Cream(which I thought by the way was only available in the SB area) You definitely need to come swing by this place to give it a try. By far the best Ice Cream i’ve ever had. I proceeded to get my favorite of all time: The Raspberry Chip Ice Cream. The chocolate chunks in there just make you feel in heaven. Makes me want to make another trip now just to get some more. In addition since it’s a froyo shop, I decided to get an order of the Peanut Butter and Strawberry to go. OHEMGEE the froyo portions are huge! Did I order a medium or a large? Definitely get your money’s worth here. With the summer time coming around, I think I’ll definitely be swinging by here more often.

Peanut butter with buttercups are so good! My father has brought us here since we were kids. Always buy us froyo and go to Rancho Park amd enjoy our days. As of now, he’ll still bring us here and just brings bacl great memories. All flavors are good. Toppings are great and they also have new ones such as lychee and jellies. Service is ok but not horrible. It’s a hit and miss but it doesn’t bother me sincw I’ll just kill them qith niceness!
