Life Rule #2: More than prayer, you must care and share. I have written hundreds of reviews on Unilocal. This is the first one that is actually important. PATH(People Assisting the Homeless) is an outstanding Los Angeles non-profit organization helping those in need who are also ready to help themselves. Its untainted motto«A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out» is exemplified through the variety of programs and assistance offered to empower people with the tools for self-sufficiency. It is a simple approach that has a lasting impact on real people by providing more than just a free meal or bed. The PATH Westside Center, combines both quality residential living and an on-site employment center. Alongside transitional housing, each individual is given a goal-oriented employment«coach,» who helps with their case management plan and prepares them to get and retain permanent employment. Since January, I have been helping provide Computer Skills Training twice a month at PATH and I have to admit that it is probably just as beneficial to me as it is to the participants. Their inspiring desire to learn and work hard to find a meaningful job by improving their skills is motivational on so many levels. It’s one thing to help someone in need, but it is even more uplifting to help someone who is willing and eager. Path benefits real men and women. People just like you and me that, for whatever reason, have found themselves in need of work and secure housing. It creates a positive and supportive atmosphere that accepts those from all cultures, backgrounds, and experiences as long as the individual is basically drug free and willing to commit to the rules/regulations of the center. Whether you have time, money, energy, or just a desire to help, you really can make a difference in someone’s life through PATH. My bet is they’ll also make a difference in yours. Visit or call them to find out how you can help.
