Good Khao Soi for the price. You definitely get a decent portion for $ 7; enough for a meal. Broth was a bit watery/brothy, I prefer it a bit thicker, and creamy, but was still very happy that we stopped here. Friendly staff. Did not wait long for service or food.

Yes! Amazing Khao Soy(soi). Other times I’ve had this dish, it was straight up yellow curry + egg noodles, but Pailin’s version had an added spice that rounded out the flavor. It was very delicious! Probably the most memorable Khao Soy I’ve had. We also ordered the spicy shrimp balls per Unilocal!and they were great. And the server suggested the spicy northern Thai sausage which I wasn’t expecting to be so good. The Thai sausage here was plump and flavorful and had great texture. Probably the best thai sausage I’ve had, but that’s not saying much since I rarely order it. This place is a winner. If you come get the specialities, not Pad Thai unless you want to be basic.

I live walking distance from Pailin, and even though there are plenty of Thai restaurants in the area, Pailin is our go-to. It’s a small, family-owned restaurant. I usually order the chicken larb with sticky rice, or any of the curries. The food is exceptional, it tastes very authentic, and the service is decent.

One of my favorite Thai joints in LA. It’s a small family restaurant. Sometimes the waiter/owner(?)‘s mini-me son is there, giving a hand. We get the usual popular dishes of tom yum goong, fried rice, pad see ew, pad Thai. Everything is delicious. The price is reasonable. Their Thai tea is tasty too. If I lived closer, this would be my go-to Thai place.

A friend of mine introduced me to Kao Soi! It’s a Thai dish known in a few parts of Thailand and it’s hard to find here in SoCal!

Fantastic. Hot. Flavorfull. Even the jasmine tea was exceptionally good. The fish cakes were wonderful, and the soup just amazing. The staff is super friendly as well. Too bad parking is such a pain. I’m dreaming of my next visit…

I’ve been coming here since I was little and I absolutely love it here. They make a lot of my favorites here that my parents or I would be too lazy to make at home. This place is family owned which is a plus for me. I would admit though that the parking is a bit of a hassle and sometimes the prices can be high for some items but since I’m paying for the convenience and the knowledge that it’s going to be done right, I don’t mind it.

Location/parking: This is located right on Hollywood blvd. As you would expect, it is very difficult to find parking as there is only parking on the street. Atmosphere: This is a small restaurant, family owned with a cute atmosphere. It has a very calming and relaxing vibe probably because of the maroon accent wall. This probably isn’t ideal for large parties. Service: Great service. They are very patient and attentive. The food comes out pretty fast. Food: –papaya salad: delicious, a bit on the sour side, but the papaya was fresh and crunchy. –bbq pork rice: this is bbq pork over rice with their sauce that they drizzle over. The sauce is sweet but tasty. The pork is VERY tender and has lots of flavor! –larb: we ordered it with chicken, but you can get it with beef or pork. It is minced meat with mint leaves and roasted rice pepper. This was also VERYVERY tasty!(my mouth is salivating as I’m writing this review) Overall: This was was delicious! I’m so happy I found this place! The service was great, food was great, and the prices are GREAT! I will definitely be back here again!

I have been living in Thailand off and on the last couple of years. I love Thai food and when you eat it three times a day for months on end, you get a pretty good feel for what is good and what is not so good, what is authentic and what is simply a watered down version. Pailin Thai is the most authentic Thai restaurant I have been to in the states. I would successfully compete with the best restaurants in Thailand. Every dish I have tried there was excellent The only negative for me is that it’s a small place, and it’s so good that often you are going to have to wait for a table. So, make reservations first. If you like Thai food, you have to check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

Best Thai food I have ever tried! I had chicken noodles three days in a roll and I still love it! It’s been a year and I still couldn’t find anything better than their chicken noodles with pepper!

I have never been disappointed in this warm, cozy family rum Thai restaurant. The food is authentic Thai and consistent in taste and quality. The menu is relatively small for a Thai restaurant maybe that is the secret to keeping everything fresh.

This place gets 5 stars for the khao soi alone. I haven’t had it since I was actually in northern Thailand and it’s one of my favorite Thai dishes. If I had the patience to make my own red curry I would make this everyday. Luckily this place is right around the corner from my boyfriends place and it took me almost a year to discover it. We had the khao soi, panang curry, crispy pork with Chinese broccoli. All were great to good. I’ve had better crispy pork but that was in southern Thailand. Out of the places I have tried in the states it’s on the better side. It was actually crispy and the sauce was flavorful. Boyfriend thought his panang was pretty good. I didn’t try it cause I’m a wimp. The khao soi is an explosion of flavor and textures. You can get it spicier if you like. I asked for it with no added spice other than what it normally comes with and the curry had a punch to it already. If you have never tried khao soi, do so here. You won’t regret it.

Eat your heart out Night + Market, the best khao soi gai in Los Angeles is right here and half the price. Although Pailin’s extensive menu has a slew of more traditional Thai offerings, it truly shines at serving authentic, harder-to-find Northern Thai dishes including the aforementioned khao soi gai which is loaded with pieces of chicken, chewy egg noodles, and a thin, red-curry tinged broth that I could write a love song about. Their choo chee sauce is also killer, though it has a similar flavor profile so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend ordering the two together unless you have a major red curry craving, as is their Northern-style Thai sausage. Spice levels at this place are perfect for my tastes; flavorful and sinus-clearing without completely torching my palate in capsaicin(Jitlada I’m looking at you). Apart from serving generous portions of home-style comfort food at its finest, it’s also head-scratchingly cheap. Think dinner for two for under $ 20. Although parking in Hollywood can sometimes be nightmarish, I generally have no issue finding a spot on Gramercy across the street. Possibly my favorite Thai restaurant in the area which is no small feat.

Great homestyle/family Thai classic foods. I’ve been coming here for years. Now i buy food for my son from Palin. The owner’s always in and he doubles and triples as the waiter and bus boy! Great stuff. Grapow over rice, curry soft shell crab, rice and noodles!

One of the unassuming treasure troves of Thai Town Hollywood. You wouldn’t think that much of it looking at it from the outside, but this family operated homey café has got its own special yum-yum plates. SPICYSHRIMPBALLS with that plummy sauce, that’s your starter, and it’s all the reason why«Pailin» will never get tired with me. They are famous for their KHAOSOI curry soup with both soft and crispy noodles, and chicken, and I do implore one of you at the table orders that, too. I went for the CHOOCHEEREDCURRYSHRIMP as a shrimp lover, a good choice, but I caught on late that HORMOKPLA(fish soufflé cake) and PLADADDEAW(marinated trout and mango sauce) are more interesting choices, but you can put the Choo Chee in the plum sauce to double its interest. I stumbled upon, to me, the strangest item of the menu, the PAPAYAWITHRAWBLUECRABSALAD. I just had to know, but now that I know, I got a carp to make with it. I don’t think you necessarily need blue crab with papaya, the papaya is fine all on its own. Also, I’ve learned when it comes to Thai Papaya Salad or Mango Salad, you don’t need high spiciness, it needs to be on the natural and sweet side. I’d advise for you to tell them No Spice on the salad, since without word they will overdo it. That one gripe is hardly gonna stop me from saying«Pailin» is one of my five faves of Thai Town, and I apologize if you’ve heard me say this before, but for new readers, Thai Town is the best Thai food in America(with San Francisco’s Union Square and Mission District as a close second place). And one more truth in criticism: DUCKFEETSALAD was the strangest item on the menu. I’m not ordering it, but glad it’s there for someone else. Last refrain: SPICYSHRIMPBALLS. Say it to them first thing. Have that on your table first. If you don’t, you’re not doing this place right. #yum-yum-to-the-max

Thai Town is great with the myriad of Thai restaurants in the area, but it’s really a shame that most of them don’t offer a lunch special as other Thai eateries do around the different parts of L.A. I don’t know why that is, but I think they should. Came in here for lunch a few weeks ago and of course, they don’t have a lunch special here either. It really makes it difficult when you’re dining solo because that means you have to order a large entrée of something with rice. Doing that makes the meal kind of blasé because there’s not the usual variety of tastes like when lunch specials come with either a soup or salad, a wonton something, etc., etc. All I had was the panang chicken with a bowl of rice. The panang chicken was decent, certainly not the best I’ve had but it’s passable. The curry was not very thick but the taste was good. I could only take so much of it though and couldn’t really finish the whole thing. There’s probably only one other place that I know of that serves a lunch special with a variety. I’ll have to search around some more to see if other places do that. For now, this place is just okay but again, I’d recommend eating here with other people to be able to order different dishes and break up the monotony.
