Olveritas Village is the go to spot for folklorico necessities. I have had two folklorico dresses made there and I really like them. They truly sell quality folklorico vestuarios. Here you can find anything you need for upcoming performances. The staff is helpful and friendly. Unlike other stores at placita olvera I know I can count on this store to have what I need.

Historic Mexican culture landmark in Downtown LA. They offer shows, dances for entertainment. It is a close quarters, very family oriented environment. There are several restaurants in the square you can choose from. The patios of the restaurants are a great spot to people watch. They also have a ton of vendors with little shops selling everything from jewelry to clothing to various paraphernalia. You can find some good deals and can haggle with the vendors if that’s your thing.

Love this place. I have been coming here since I was a kid. I love that I can find women’s guayberas in different colors.

I have lived in LA for years and never been to this little tiny village smack in the middle of DTLA. I’ve heard so many people talk about it but the idea of having to find parking and the schlep to this older part of DTLA never seem attractive enough for me to make the trip. We came here over Memorial Day Weekend while driving around. We stopped at the original Phillipe’s(1st time as well) to have a French dipped sandwich and decided to stay around since we already paid for parking. Surprisingly there is a lot to see within walking distance. Olverita’s Village has the hodgepodge of kitschy Mexican stalls with tourist souvenirs. But what impressed me was the historical nature of the neighborhood. There were many historical buildings and free museums you can just wonder around in. Also it is within walking distance from Chinatown so you can wonder around there as well. Usually you want to avoid parking at the main lots with their $ 1.50 for 20 min parking rates and find smaller street where they charge $ 5 for parking for the day so you can have time to stroll around. Next time I would try some of the Mexican eateries right in the village to get the full ambiance.

Pretty much any place here will have the best tasting Mexican food! Not to mention the plethora of Mexican candies sold along the strip… must go!

I love this place. Perfect gift location for literally any holiday. I’ve been debating buying their tortilla presses for years. Granted, if you’ve been to mexico none of this stuff will surprise you, but it’s cool to have it so close and for a decent price. Their jewelry isn’t very high quality(hence my four rather than five stars) but I think of this store more as a cool place to look around rather than truly shop.

Found this little store in the Olvera Street-El Pueblo district as Tim C. and I walked around in search of the perfect sombrero for our upcoming Cinco de Mayo party. This place is filled with Mexican arts, crafts, pottery, jewelry. And yes, I found my perfect sombrero for a reasonable price too. Besides finding my perfect sombrero, Olverita’s Village also carried mariachi suits, frida-style tops and hand painted velvet skirts too.

My favorite stop on Olvera Street. They have everything. Really. Ethnic crafts, home décor, pottery, clothing, souvenirs of course, etc etc … and TONS of gorgeous jewelry. When I host my touristy friends and family, I always bring them to this spot, because they can find absolutely anything they’d like to bring back as gifts and memories. And I pick up a few lovely items as well. They get their trinkets, and I get a new bracelet. Win win. Not only is the selection superb, and the quality of merchandise consistently top notch, the pricing is excellent too! No other vendor can compete with Olveritas. I recently picked up three identical copper bracelets for $ 10. And a sterling silver and turquoise ring for an unbelievable price of $ 20. Turquoise! I can’t even find a deal that great online. Bonus points for taking credit card too! What really keeps me coming back is how hospitable and friendly the women are who work here. They are more than happy to seek out items for you, give you their opinion on gifts, and indulge your limited Spanish if you’re looking to practice. Such lovely personalities!

Accidentally stumbled into this place — It is the a Frida Kahlo den! You can find a lot of Frida-style clothing, painting, portraits. This place is colorful and vibrant. With a super friendly owner, you feel like you are on vacation for a few hours! I lived in LA for almost 2 years and have never heard of this place — this area is a little Mexican village located in downtown — near Chinatown and Fashion district. Olverita’s Village is a really cute place to bring your friends to hang out for a few hours. If you have been to this area, Olverita’s village is a definitely a store you can’t miss. This is simply the STAR store of the entire area. Nevertheless, the whole area is full of interesting snacks, cute little store… It’s like a different town. Come check it out.

This shop is fantastic! They have everything you could possibly imagine in Mexican arts, crafts, pottery, Day of the Dead, clothing, etc. It’s overwhelming taking it all in! I’ve been twice and will plan to return every trip to Olvera Street. Last year I purchased a beautiful tin lantern for my home. They quoted me the wrong price, but, the owner stuck to that price. That shows integrity in my book. I got the $ 49.99 star lantern for $ 24.99 because she’d quoted wrong. The only beef I have is that you can find some of the items in the other shops of Olvera at a lot less cost.(Which is why I gave 4 stars and not 5.) I bought a windchime from another vendor for $ 20 less than Olverita’s was charging for the exact same item. Still… Olverita’s has a lot of high quality merchandise, and, I will continue to look there for items for my home when in town. I have to add… last year when I was there(October), I had wanted an item and did not buy it. I called and they sounded all too happy to ship it to me. They got my phone number and said they would call with a shipping price… I waited 2 days. No call. I called again, the gal… very nice… said she’d get it for me and call the next day. NEVERCALLED. So, if you want something, get it when you are there. They are not good with follow-up. At least not with me.

You can find any cool and authentic Mexican or Chicano item in this store. It contains the most beautiful costume jewelery(that I love wearing on a daily basis), the most exquisite cultural clothing, furniture, cool Chicano tshirts, and art in all of Olvera street! The only thing that would make this place cooler is if it also had Mexican instruments to play the different sones. Then the store would really be complete. Also, if anyone wants to buy me the t-shirt that says Folklorico Kicks Ass with a picture of ballet folklorico shoes, feel free to buy it for me. ;) Oh, I got my folklorico shoes here and they are AWESOME!!! :D I danced the shit of them and they’re still good.

Olverita’s Village is my favorite store in Placita Olvera. Doña Marta, the owner, makes quality a top priority in this store with only the best in Mexican cultural clothing, ceramics, jewelry, CDs, videos, furniture, anything you can think of, including a huge Chicano shirt collection! I always stop by this store every time I go to Placita Olvera and I can’t imagine Placita Olvera without having this store. Every visit is as good as the last, so you won’t be disappointed.(P.S. if wheelchair access is a concern, you would have to go through the back entrance that faces N. Main St. and Cesar E. Chavez Ave since you have to take the stairs to get into the front entrance.)

this store is AMAAAAAAAZING!!! located at the front entrance of olvera st. in LA, it’s a huge store that’s jam packed with every type of truly authentic mexican or spanish outfit that you could want. we’re talking amazing intricately embroidered mariachi suits, hand painted velvet skirts, and drool-worthy insanely embroidered frida-style tops. this stuff is the real deal, and you pay for it. the suits can run up into the thousands. they also have an extensive collection of mexican silver and gold filled traditional jewelry that i would die for. but besides clothing, they also have loads of home décor including some really cool dia de los muertos items, and even traditional flamenco dancer hair combs and castanets. i could easily spend millions of dollars in here, being the nutty mexiphile that i am. it’s totally worn checking out.
