Was told wholesale only. I didn’t see much inventory around. Stays in the fridge/freezer probably. 4 stars since I don’t want to detract from the previous review.

After the painfully lost moment that I had at LA Fish Co… I walked back to my car muttering absolute obscenities at the curse that I had to endure being betrayed by a possible bad day that a well-reviewed company had this beautiful freezing morning. I nearly entered my car when a being — that I nearly thought was a zombie — walked through the curtain of plastic. His name was Ken, owner of this place, friendly and dying for a nicotine rush, which was obvious from the fog that concentrated before him. I paused for a moment — like a zombie as well — not moving and having this semi-bewildered look on my face. Who the bloody hell was this guy? Sure enough, I chatted him up and found that he was more than just friendly enough to let me see how everything goes about here down in DTLA in the wholesale fish market. I watched a tuna larger than me taken from its shipment box to the filet table… which was a whole different level of experience for me. I wasn’t thinking wasabe or soy sauce or ponsu sauce looking at that 250+ pounds of tuna. I was just thinking to myself… son of a b****…that fish is worth more than a badass car… and going to disappear into small chunks within 30 minutes… Anyways, besides getting to witness the stock in the freezer, meeting the staff, meeting the fish ready to be bought, I learned enough here to prepare for my private food and wine event. Seriously, thank you KEN. I’ll be back soon as I promised. I need those cuts after all. ;)
