Nike Run Club meets every Wednesday at 6:30am. They start off with a team stretch, followed by announcements… They have three different run groups at no particular pace… 3 mile, 5 mile, 7 mile… The club consist of a younger(and fast) crowd but don’t let that intimidate you! I started out a very, very slow runner but after months, I noticed the improvement from running with all these roadrunners — this club really pushes and motivates you to run harder/faster… and it is simply impressive and amazing what the human body can accomplish. What is really nice about this running organization(other than it being free, no strings attached) is that sometimes the Run Club coordinators will have«fun runs» and«destination runs» where they will visit and take pictures at the La Brea Tar Pits or LACMA Urban Lights… one time they did a «Sprinkles to Sprinkles» run where we ran from the Grove to the Sprinkle in Beverly Hills and they rewarded each runner with a free cupcake(any flavor of our choice)! Price — FREE! Parking — Few options here…(1) Parking structure at The Grove — first hour is free, $ 4 for the second hour and $ 5 for the third hour.(2) Parking lot at the Farmers Market — free 2 hour parking with validation at any Farmer Market vendors,(3) parking at your own risk at the nearby park(Pan Pacific Park)

I was visiting in town and got to run club. The route was nice — LACMA, La Brea tarpits and around downtown. The 3 mile route was around 3.5 miles. The 5 mile route was offered. They stretch beforehand and hand out water and Kind bars afterwards. The pacers are young and start off fast without warming up but it was fun. I’d recommend it to everyone and will definitely be back when I’m in LA! PROTIP: Get your parking validated at Nordstrom’s!

Tried out the run club for the first time today. I read on the Grove’s website that they have training runs on Wednesday nights at 6:30PM and Saturday mornings at 9AM. I don’t consider myself a seasoned runner by any means, but with the amount of 5K and 10K’s that I’ve done, I thought I would give it a try. They have a pacer for a 3, 5, and 7 mile run. I opted for the 3 mile run, since I wasn’t too familiar with the area, and I wasn’t sure what the pace of the group was going to be. I typically run a consistent 10 minute mile, but I feel like that was really slow for this group of runners. There were times when I would look up, and not see anybody else in my group. Thankfully the pacer backtracked, found me, and gave me directions for the rest of the run. I may have to train a little bit and shave some time off of my mile in order to run with this training group. The cool thing about this place is that they let you try out some different Nike running shoes for your run. They also have a place to hold your stuff, so you don’t have to leave everything in your car. That’s especially helpful if you want to just continue your day and get some shopping done. They don’t validate parking, but like standard parking rules at the Grove, the first hour is free.
