Bomb leek cake and Cambodian noodle soup !! Bad service though but would still come here because it is hard to find good authentic food.

The Cambodian food here is amazing. & the smoothies are fresh ENOUGHSAID ! Word of advice though, watch out for those PERVY Khmer elders outside of the resturant LOL. Some of them need a spanking, seriously.

I just came to get some leek cakes to go. The service is not friendly but the leek cakes are almost as good as my mom’s. Typically they are mostly dough when you get them in a restaurant but these had a lot of filling. Yum! !

One of the few places around the city that has Chinese Cambodian food. Usually get the seafood rice noodles with soup. The yang chow fried rice is one of my favorites and really is how this dish should be made. It taste so much better than the traditional style yang chow you get at most Chinese restaurants. Always love supporting the local places that are hard working trying to make a buck.

Looking for some authentic Ga Gi Nang Food aka Chiu Chow Food? Well New Kamara is the place to be. It’s not the prettiest restaurant you will ever see but when it comes to chiu chow food, this is it. My family and I have been coming here ever since I was a kid and definitely nothing has change. You can definitely tell right when you walk into the restaurant with their dated décor and menus. The only thing that did change is they don’t offer some foods on the menu as before but the food still taste great. What I always get at New Kamara is the Combination Rice Noodle(dried) with the side of soup. It’s stirred egg noodles(either small or big) served with grounded pork, fish balls, duck, beef liver?, and shrimp. I’ve been eating this dish ever since I was able to hold my first chop sticks. Back when I was kid, I use to think I was the Monkey King and use to stand on the table and slurp each strand of the noodle thinking I was the coolest kid at the restaurant(if you do that too, you’re cool!). Another favorite that me and family love to get is the leek cakes and chinese donuts. But yeah, if you want cheap Chiu Chow this is it. Be sure to bring cash because like I said, this place is dated.

The waitress didn’t greet us. She came to our table with the menus, placed them both on the table without saying a single word and then quickly walked away before I couldn’t even say thank you. A little over 5 mins, I got up to ask her for water. Because we had been walking and needed to hydrate. She should have already brought is water by default. I was being patient but Literally 15 mins goes by and she comes to our table and asks if we are ready to order. I tell her«no, not yet but can we have PLEASE have our water!» She stood there for a few seconds staring and proceeded to ask in a different way saying«I’ll take your order first then get water. «Mind you I’m here trying to clear my throat in need of water, we should have gotten the water before the food. I knew I was hungry but I really just wanted my water at that moment. So she finally walks off and takes another 5 for the water. I take a sip, and it was horrible!!! I could taste the water and That’s not a good sign at all. It wasn’t filtered but the taste OMG I couldn’t drink it. You could smell it it was so bad. I asked her«this is straight from the sink, it doesn’t taste good?» She like yes. And just stands there. Were like OK? I asked her if she tasted it. She said yes. Lol Didn’t even apologize or offer an alternative. Her energy just totally killed my vibe. Thank god my friend had a bottle of water in her purse. I had the ginger chicken which is one of my favorite dishes. BUT it was unfortunate that it had a lot of ginger skin in it. It was really unpleasant to keep spitting it out. I ended up with a tummy ache while half way through my plate. Anyways, the prices are reasonable. It is hole in the wall place, it’s filthy around, the tables sticky, the menus need updating instead of white outs, it looks like a scrap book, the sauces are watered down. Makes me wonder about that B grade on the window. They should give way better customer service if they want to get more business. But for now I’ll just stick to my favorite Cambodian restaurants in long beach.

I was looking for a place that served egg noodles sort of Chiu Chow style and found this place. It is almost at the end of Chinatown in a plaza, the restaurant looks family owned and resembles a «hole in the wall». I believe the place is Chinese/Cambodian because there was Chinese and Cambodian on the menus. Also the menus have pictures for every item they served, it is sort of ghetto but instead of replacing the menu, they sort of whited out or crossed it off. The menus are kind of sticky and the place can seem a bit dirty but the food was still really good. I ordered the Combination Egg Noodle soup, I wanted it to be soupless at first, but I just went for the soup. It had grounded pork, duck meat, fish balls, shrimp and liver with bean sprouts and lime on the side. It was pretty good, very well balaned and the noodles were fantastic. It is also super cheap here and service was great.

My family and I used to come here weekly when we lived in LA. Brings back many memories coming back to this restaurant. I came here recently with my mom, the owners have changed several times over the years but that hasn’t stopped us from coming back. I love getting their Chiu Chow Chinese noodles and their leek cakes. I normally always get their Chinese donut too. Sadly I regret ordering it the last time I was here. The Chinese donut was old, extremely greasy and they didn’t reheat it up for me while I was waiting for my food to come. This is a hole in a wall type of place, tables and menus were a bit sticky. One thing that bothered me was their menu. There were a lot of items they decided to stop serving and instead of ordering new sets of menu, they taped over the item then wrote that its no longer available. Personally to me its such an eye sore when restaurants do this, they did the same thing on certain items where they decided to increase the price. Prices here are pretty reasonable and you get a huge portion. The place is cash only and they have a private lot. I’m normally in the area because my accountant is nearby. So when I visit him, I stop by to pick up leek cakes for my family.

I just Love this place, I make a point of it to support this restaurant at least once a week. As far as I can tell the owners are Cambodian and the dishes are also traditionally prepared by a Cambodian cook. I am currently going down the menu and I am ordering the next item from the one I had before but I always combine my order with a serving of their fried Leek Cakes with fish sauce and a serving of cooked beef bone in steaming hot broth. Every time I visit New Kamara, the staff treats me like their only guest. I am learning the Cambodian pronunciation of each dish that I am ordering from the menu and I make a point of it to introduce my friends to this little Mom and Pop kitchen that I discovered almost a decade ago. It is places like this that make Los Angeles a fascinating experience for me. I have been living in Los Angeles since 1997 and 15 years later I am digging myself just deeper and deeper into this city that I made my new home.

Just want to note that ownership changed about a half year ago and I haven’t had a chance to come back to see if the food’s changed.

Nice cambodian, chiu chow chinese noodle place in chinatown. I noticed some other reviews mentioned Vietnamese food. They are wrong, they either have never had Vietnamese food or misidentified the food here as vietnamese style. Anyway the food is good for the price. I recommend the noodle dishes. Either noodles with soup or a crispy noodle dish.

Ambiance: hole in the wall Service: very friendly and attentive Food: Hoy Tod is good, everything else is ‘ok’. I’m not a big fan of Cambodian food. To me, it’s similar to Thai food but more on the bland side. However, I’m giving this place 4 stars solely for their Hoy Tod dish. HOYTOD: think of a thin crispy flour pancake with mussels(they substitute this for oysters) and bean sprouts on it. sounds weird, right? It tastes better than it sounds! I would’ve enjoyed it even more had they served it with the siricha/sweet chilli sauce to offset the grease.

Cambodian, Chinese, and Vietnamese food all in one spot? Love it! Except that their portions are a bit too small for what it’s priced at! But, I however do like the fact that they have pictures for every item on their menu because that way I know exactly what I’m getting. The place is a bit dirty which I didn’t mind, but the service however was pretty horrible. We came during lunch when it was a bit busy that we had to seat ourselves at a table that wasn’t cleaned yet, and on top of that my Aunt decided to help them out by cleaning our own table and placing the used cups and plates on their cart. What irked me even more was when a party that came after us had gotten their food way before us — this is a definite no-no in my book. Only three stars because I like the food.

This place is fantastic. We found it thanks to my wife’s tireless research skills. It is a Vietnamese/Chinese Chiu Chow restaurant which basically means if you are used to eating bun or more traditional chinese noodles you will be in for a treat. The prices are INSANELY cheap for how good the food is. I got #14 which was dry noodles that came with a side of delicious pork bone soup. The noodles themselves are imbibed with an amazing fish sauce/citrus flavor that is really unique and delicious. The dish includes fishballs, fish cake, mince pork, sliced pork, liver, and shrimp. It’s not an overwhelming amount of meat, but a wonderful diversity of flavors and textures. I would strongly recommending throwing in some extra peanuts, chili oil, fish sauce, and sricha. My wife got the Wonton soup which was fantastic and enormous. But the best thing about this place was the service. As a long time patron of noodle shops all over LA, you get accustomed to a certain level of service(low). But they were absolutely wonderful here, refilled my water without asking, and actually said«I haven’t seen you in here before, I hope you come back» It was really wonderful and we definitely will come back. Also the water has a feint taste of tea which is perfect for the summer time. In short, EATHERE!
