This is an amazing place. I would always go here with my friends for brunch during weekends for their lunch-buffet. Frankly, there aren’t that many kind of dishes served in the buffet, some curry and masala, served with rice or naan. But, you definitely shouldn’t expect a huge variety for such a cheap price. Personally, I don’t really enjoy going to buffets because the food temperature might be wrong or the food might get dry if left out too long. But because New India Grill doesn’t have a wide variety of dishes, the food is all nice and fresh. Love how their naan is freshly baked, crispy and hot, when you order them. Definitely try their garlic naan. Overall, as a college student, this place serves amazing food with affordable price!

New India is my favorite Indian food restaurant in Los Angeles. I have eaten both lunch and dinner and both are equally incredible. My wife and I love the chicken tikka masala and the boneless Tandoori chicken. All the vegetable dishes are extremely tasty too. There is no skimping on the lunch Buffett but I recommend coming for dinner since the portions are generous and reasonable in price. The staff is solid and the owner Mahesh treats the customers like family. There is usually a valet parking guy in front of the papa johns a few doors down but I usually get lucky with street parking. I can’t wait to go back.

Buffet is very good, and this is one of the only places that has a dinner buffet. Only issue is that every time my husband and I come here, we feel sick afterwords because we overeat. Not because the food is bad, but because we overeat. Their naan is delicious and their tikki masala sauce is fantastic.

New India Grill is a wonderful Indian joint in the Westwood area. New India Grill has both a lunch buffet and as well as the standard dine-in dinner experience. Although I originally came for the dinner menu(which is great and I will touch on later), I think most reviews agree their lunch buffet outstanding. Typically buffets come with foods that are of lesser quality, but as someone who eats both their normal dinner dishes and buffets, the buffet food is delicious and of excellent quality. They usually have a soup, rice, and some sort of fried dish. In addition, they have an assortment of curies, they always have Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Tandoori. The Chicken Tikka Masala is probably my favorite dish. The chicken is extremely creamy and not too spicy(as in the spiciness level), but still has the unique blend of spices associated with Indian dishes. For those not a fan of heavier dishes, the Chicken Tandoori is excellent as well. Again, the spiciness level is not too high on these dishes but the tenderness of the chicken is amazing. All lunch buffett also come with Naan which is always hot, soft, and delicious. For anyone in the area craving for a hearty lunch, New India Grill is the way to go. Their dinner experience is great as well. They have a wide assortment of chicken and lamb dishes from tandoori, tikka masala, and vindaloo, etc. They have specific dish entrees as well as dinner combination meals which come with a small assortment various dishes as well as Naan, great for someone who is new to the restaurant and doesn’t know want to get. I personally love their chicken biryani and saag dishes. To top it off, all their dishes are extremely reasonably priced for what you get. Something I really value as a college student! Even if you aren’t a fan of Indian food, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. I did not like Indian food prior to visiting New India Grill but their food is great.

We hired New India Grill for our daughter’s wedding on Sept. 5th, 2015. They did an excellent job. All the guests appreciated their food. I highly recommend them for catering.

Highly recommend this place, especially for its lunch buffet. Indian buffets are usually mediocre. However, this restaurant serves food that are worth paying for individually. The main stand-outs are the curry chicken and the chicken tikka masala. Eaten on a bed of rice, these different sauces carried their weight. The curry chicken had some heat to it and tasted good. The chicken tikka masala was very creamy and the chicken pieces in it were surprisingly juicy. The naan they served was hot and fresh with slightly crispy parts throughout. Apparently, you can ask for garlic naan, but i was too entranced by the sauces to care. Even though I didn’t talk much about the the other stuff, I really enjoyed everything else. They had a wide variety of different sauces(which I dont know the name of). For dessert, I had the rice pudding and that was amazing as well. Although service is not something I look for in a restaurant, I’d say that the service was very good. The waiters were attentive and even brought out fresh tandoori chicken when the buffet ran out. I had a great experience eating here! I will definitely be back

This is probably the only good Indian food you will find in Westwood. Restaurant is extremely clean. Excellent service. The food is good, but not amazing. Then again, I am used to Indian food in London so I have high expectations.

My rating is actually 3.5 stars. I normally never dine out at Indian restaurants(always disappointing compared to food at home!) but this restaurant is one of the few that I would happily go to in LA. I love the methi chicken, which is not common on menus, as well as their garlic naan. The naan is never rubbery when you break it, which I think is the true test of good naan.

I have been to this place forever. But this is the first time I am rating it. The food is decent and tasty. If you are in Westwood and have the urge for Indian this is the place to go. The buffet items are typically North Indian. Daal, saag, vegetable curry, tikka masala, Chicken curry and tandoori chicken served with rice and naan bread. The dessert is rice pudding.

A few friends and I went to New India Grill for a late lunch. We all got the $ 10.95 buffet, which was served with naan and fountain drinks. By the time that we made our first plates, it was almost 2pm and the buffet items were noticeably cold, with even a little congealing of some of the sauces. With that said, there were plenty of meat and vegetarian dishes, of the typical Indian buffet variety, including tandoori chicken, chicken curry, veggie curry, chicken tikka masala, spinach, and lentils. None of the food had much spiciness to it, which was fine for me but surprising nonetheless. There was also a small salad bar. Each basket of naan that was brought to our table was fresh, hot, and actually quite good. I mostly filled up on this Service was friendly and acceptable. I’d say that this was a pretty run-of-the-mill Indian buffets but it was good and we were stuffed when we left.

Worst food ever, and even more, most unprofessional customer service. Calling a business so you can get the last word in and then hang up? Yeah good luck staying in business with that type of service! Stay away from this establishment!

I have patronize this place before the food is marginal but can be better. The reason for the review is we ordered delivery for a few of us and we never received our orders of rice also all of our food was liquid ie: tika masala and so on all we got two knives for utensils. When we called and asked they said it would be $ 11+ also I asked about the utensils the reply was you did not ask! Really! Every restaurant I have ordered from always sends you napkins and here nothing. They never tried to offer a discount they just called us so they could hang up the phone. Never again

With a Unilocal coupon in hand, we dropped in spur of the moment with no expectations. The place was completely empty and a little run down. With the guidance of hubby, we decided on chicken tikka and lamb vindaloo. It did not disappoint. Everything was freshly made from the kitchen since it took a bit to come out. Flavors were vibrant but not overly spicy. Hopefully business perks up for this restaurant !

bought the Unilocal deal, so it was a perfect opportunity to get reacquainted w/new india grill. i’ve tried all of of the indian restaurants in this area up and down westwood boulevard, and always thought new india grill had the best buffet for lunch. the flavors always seemed to taste freshest. popping in on a wednesday night at 6.30P w/wifey and baby in tow, the place was totally empty. the two waiters at the front immediately seated us and took our drink orders(lassi for her, mango lassi for me). one of the joys of indian food is having a nice variety of flavors and textures, so we each opted for a combo, which includes the main(we got chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo), matar paneer(cheese curds and peas), daal mahkni(lentil stew), vegetable rice, naan, and salad or raita. the main courses were really great. the chicken was perfectly cooked, and was still super juicy, which is very difficult for white meat. the lamb vindaloo had deep, rich flavors and the meat was nicely cooked and tender as well. we asked for garlic naan to be substituted for regular naan, which was not a problem, with no upcharge. the naan was perfectly crispy and savory, without being overly garlicky like many restaurants will make it. even the matar paneer was great, with perfectly cooked peas that still had pop, unlike pretty much every other indian restaurant that serves it as a grey/green mush. the cheese curds in the mater paneer even had a nice toothiness to it. the daal was a nice doneness as well, with the lentils still having good texture and flavors well developed without being muddled. i haven’t had indian food executed this well since i moved down from the bay area during the dotcom days. very enjoyable meal. we’ll definitely be back. i didn’t ask, and they didn’t offer, different degrees of spiciness, so everything was quite mild. next time, i’ll ask that they heat things up a bit to see if that’s an option, but the food and service were on point for our first dinner visit!

If I could rate solely on customer service, I would! I cannot even begin to explain how pleased I am with the customer service! The servers were always checking up on us to see how we were doing. A simple test my friend likes to do is count how many times they refill our drinks, and we had our drinks refilled a whopping THREE times! It was great! Now on to the food– my friend and I shared a chicken tikka masala combination platter, which came with some things I cannot remember and garlic naan(boy, were those to die for), and of course, some delicious tandoori chicken. The chicken tikka masala was super good, but I personally liked the tandoori chicken better. Talk about juicy and tender! YUMMMO!!! Anyway, it was too much for both of us, as the portions are fairly generous. But, if I could, I would have gladly devoured the tandoori chicken! We were also given some mango yogurt on the house, and that was super delish as well! And free? Yes, please! It was such a great experience, given that it was my first time at an Indian restaurant(I was so confused on how to eat some of the stuff). Hahaha. But I am definitely planning on coming back(maybe during their AYCE buffet hours too). ;) All in all, I had an awesome time. Well done, New India Grill. Well done.

Would not expect superb Indian cuisine on Westwood Blvd but New India Grill is the real thing. I’d been coming here sporadically since 1993 and it was OK but about five years ago Mahesh the current owner took over and it is without a doubt the best Indian food in Los Angeles, in my opinion as an Indian-American. They take a little longer than average to prepare the dishes, but everything comes out piping hot and super fresh. The quality of the meat and vegetables is superb-especially their chicken. Always fresh and perfectly cooked to tenderness-YUM. My favorites are the shrimp masala(HUGE shrimps-I think they breed them on Jupiter!), chicken vindaloo, okra, eggplant. But, I honestly have not had any bad dishes there. A lot of Indian restaurants are sadly a little lacking in service but Mahesh and his staff are so gracious, welcoming and friendly. They have always accommodated any special requests with a genuine smile and eagerness to please. Last time I went they gave me a little mango lassi chaser complimentary-delicious!!! The décor and environment are also a refreshing change from most Indian restaurants-it is quiet, elegant, and you do not leave the restaurant smelling like curry :) They deliver too! Thanks Mahesh for bringing this Indian gem to the westside.

Happy I violated my buffet rule today. New India Grill is a Westwood Indian Food go-to restaurant when lunch options are limited based on time. The food here is nice quality, filling, and tasty. Their lunch special of $ 10 and change includes a fountain drink. The owner is on site and despite his awkwardness, he has improved by not communicating at all and allowing his waiters to do all the talking. The only thing I might add is that he should take a ‘anti-grumpy’ pill, turn that frown upside down, and learn to greet guests with pleasant conversation. Aside from this, this place is awesome. So giving him and his place the benefit of the doubt and going 5-stars. I would also come in on an off day and paint the place again to turn up the remodel a notch. The lunch special is a definitely a value and their is a Unilocal check in coupon for $ 10 buys $ 20 in food. Seems like a pretty good idea if there is more than one of you. Thank you New India Grill; will be back for more.

I’ve been coming here for years for the lunch buffet, and I really like their food as a general rule. It’s a quick walk down the street from my office and there’s never a wait so you can get in and out pretty quickly. Their chicken and vegetarian curries are quite tasty. Not so much a fan of lamb but they haven’t served it in a while. Love the kheer(rice pudding). One time we even came before they officially opened for lunch and they went ahead and let us in. The one thing that makes me hesitate about coming back is that the last couple times we’ve been here not all of the dishes from the buffet have been hot(that should have been). From a food safety perspective, that makes me very nervous. Hope they can fix this issue.
