NEONVENUSARTTHEATER is from another planet where it should have stayed. Aside from the small space and lack of infastruture like Air conditioning my main disappointment was Peter Valentino, one of the instructors. My first gripe it that Peter Valentino it a condescending, patronizing, creeper who I believe has no biz teaching acting of any kind of acting to anyone. He was abrasive and dismissive in a passive aggressive way. He teaches classes out of his house which smells like a cat piss and bacon /senior living facility. Besides being a gross environment it was also loud with music, banging, and screaming coming from a neighbors apt all which made the experience even more frustrating and less condusive to training. Save your time money and go to Second City, Groundlings, Playhouse West, etc.

Wow! This venue is truly fantastic! Every improv show is full of talented and diverse comedians. On top of the laugh out loud performances, their is an overwhelming sense of community, like when you are at Neon Venus you are more than an audience member, you are part of a community. And what a community it is! You’re sure to see faces you recognize from tv, film and commercials, and I wouldn’t be surprised if one or more of the young performers became big stars.

Neon Venus is a multipurpose, inspirational outlet for art expression. Lissette is approachable and professional – what you want in an owner. It has given me a place to hold meetings, rehearse and perform standup/improv/sketch, and be inspired. This is the place for young artists to meet, create and perform. Every Friday night neon artists have hosted some of the best improvisers and actors in LA. When friends are in town this is the place I take them.

I have been going to the Neon Venus to watch my buddies shows for over a year now. The atmosphere is always super groovy! Jeff and Lissette, keep doing what you are doing!

Great Theater! The improv every weekend is top notch! Great shows both Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7:00pm and going throughout. If you pay for one show you can stay for all of them all night long. Who can beat that!!!

I always learn something when I come to this theater. Lissette makes it rock with her passion, intelligence, kindness and love of all arts – and she is a great connector, bringing together others with the same loves.

Let’s say 3.5 stars. The venue is rather plain, a store front, but perfectly suitable for both stage plays and workshops. I have been to a few workshops here, and do not get the issues some have stated about the owner Lissette. She was pleasant, and has a love for film and stage. There are further upcoming workshops I plan on attending.

Such a waste of time. One of the worst experiences of my life! Was invited to study improv at this place. Thought why not since the price was resonable and I have never taken an improv class before. I show up at the date and time and was told rather rudely that there was no class; never recieved an email or phone call saying that class was postponed or cancelled. Tried to text the owner and still haven’t gotten a response back. The man who told me there was no class, Peter Valentino I guess is his name, then talked to me in such a condscending, disrespectful way that I decided to never give this place another chance. I have heard from several friends in the business who have studied improv here that this is typical behaviour and that the improv classes usually dissolve rather quickly because the students don’t show up. I’ll just take my money and go study at Groundlings, UCB or Second City. At least there the staff and students are professional. It’s easy to see why the Neon Venus Theatre in Vegas closed down. I don’t expect this one to be there for long unless the staff learns how to be polite to potential customers and students. Avoid at all costs!!!

Fantastic little theatre in the heart of Hollywood! Make sure to check out the Improv shows that perform here. It’s a cheap night out with plenty of laughs. It’s normally $ 5 per show, and they have cheap drinks available.

A well kept secret of the Hollywood improv and comedy scene with live shows pretty much every night. The venue has local artwork on the walls, cheap drinks and a loyal community of improv performers. The shows are usually $ 5 and although it may not have the caché of some of the improv factories around town, this up-and-coming theater has some hilarious shows.

Came here for a comedy show and the venue leaves a lot to be desired. Its about the size of a living room. No Air conditioning and if you want to use the bathroom you have to walk across the stage(oh don’t mind the performer) or use the Hot Wings Café next door — guess they made a little deal with them. Probably can fit about 15 – 20 seats in here. Super Small and only street parking which totally blows. Also — got severely harassed by some homeless man outside — typical Hollyweird.

I have been taking acting lesson at Neon Venus for a year and a half. The instruction is first rate and everybody gets to do a lot of work. The instructor, Peter Valentino, is extremely intuitive and is able to coax the best performances out of each of the students by focusing on their strengths as well as their weaknesses. The cost is affordable and the best scenes are filmed and put on YouTube. It is hard to imagine a more gratifying learning experience for beginning and intermediate actors. I highly recommend NeonVenus.

This gallery space is fun and the owners are very friendly hip people. i came here for an art show for my friend teresa moore. they had three bands play later that night. it was a packed house for a small intimate vibe . i also took some voice lessons there as well from peter which were very affordable and helpful. its a great community vibe there and a great place to showcase for up and coming artists.

I have been training here at Neon Venus, trained most of my life at high end acting schools, I need to be honest… i’ve seen more work happen in this amazing little space! Peter Valentino is amazing. He understands what level everyone is at, what they need to work on, and he works differently with all of us… I have seen a person with little talent become something because of Peter, he is that good. His in built understanding, intelligence and his own talent make this a truly wonderful working atmosphere. I’m only involved on saturday afternoons… however…I’m ALWAYS hearing and seeing of different things going on, improv, band nights, art… this is the place for true artists to discover or grow their craft!

This place is SMALL, typically used as a acting class but I’ve been here twice for a comedian’s little show. Seems cozy and intimate, we were able to fit about 30 people in tightly with seating. behind the stage theres an outdoor area where the guests could mingle after the show so that was a plus. Just a very small place which is why I give it 3 stars
