Great place to stop while visiting the NHM. They have an area for Grab-N-Go with sandwiches and drinks, and they have another area for«Orders» to be made upon request. The kids had chicken strips, grilled-cheese sandwich and fries which were great according to them. They also had fresh fruit in a basket by the register. The apples are wrapped in plastic wrap for hygienic reasons. Way to go! We stopped right at 12 pm during lunch time, and it was pretty packed. There was a worker directing people who couldn’t find a table to another room.

NHM Grill is actually run by Trimana which is the same restaurant in the lobby of the building I work at in Burbank. I was expecting to see the same menu items, but to my surprise, totally different menu. I was feeling rather fat that day for some reason so I opted for the Chinese Chicken Salad(cause everyone knows salad dressing is super healthy.) It was pretty refreshing on a hot day and I’m glad I chose it. It wasn’t the best CCS I’ve ever had, but for a museum, I was fairly impressed. I don’t remember dining at very many museums, but as my wife was 7 months pregnant and it was hot, we weren’t going to leave the premises and eat down the street. The dining room is very modern and has nice spacing between the tables. We chose to sit outside on the patio which is very nice and relaxing. The tables were a little off balance — or maybe it was just me as I was battling a cold the day we visited the museum. Also, nearly all the high chairs had bird poop on them which my wife accidentally touched and then had quite the reaction that deserved applause from our fellow diners for best dramatic performance. I’m not sure how many other museums have restaurants to judge this one by, so I leave this at 4 stars for the time being.

Inside the museum you can get you basic burger and fries and drinks .I must say the price is not that bad .If your taking kids it’s a great place it beats caring around Brown bags or lunch pals .They also have soup and onion rings and sandwiches

Located on the ground floor of the Natural History Museum is the establishment’s grill. They serve a good variety of foods — about 6+ different kinds of salads(ranging from $ 6 — $ 10), sandwiches and burgers, soups, fresh daily items, french fries($ 3.95), onion rings($ 5.95). They have a wonderful selection of children sized items — most of them are priced at $ 5.95. Chicken tenders and french fries come with 2 pieces of chicken tenders. Mac and Cheese was quite interesting, as it looked microwaved and a bit burned at the edges of the recycled bowl. There are about 15 – 20 four-person indoor seating, and a huge outdoor section with about 15 tables(plus tons of grass for the kiddos to sit and picnic or run around on). Not a bad alternative if you didn’t bring your own picnic basket lunch and use the Museum’s grassy area for a picnic.
