Talk about delicious food! Living In LA for nearly all my life I have not yet to have seen a Filipino restaurant so when I stumbled across this place I knew I had to try it! I Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm with two colleagues of mine. There is a small parking lot that is shared with a super market and other small businesses, so I was lucky enough to score a parking space right away. Although it looks like there are plenty of street parking so it shouldn’t be a problem. When I first walked in I couldn’t help but notice the undeniable smell of delicious home cooked food. This place was cozy, clean, and the employees were very welcoming. Okay lets get to the most important part, the food! Adobo, pancit, and a cup of sinigang soup is what I ordered, The Adobo was tender and flavorful, the pancit was moist, and the sinigang was savory with just the right amount of tanginess. Either I was lucky enough to choose all the best foods they have or everything there is just so darn good! None the less my colleagues and I agreed that it was a pleasant experience and are planning to make this a monthly retreat for us. Next time I will definitely have to try the AYCE option since its only $ 8 I believe. So if you are looking for a quick bite at a nice, quaint place with affordable comfort food you need to give this place a shot because you will not be disappointed!

It’s okay. I think you gotta be a local to really enjoy this place. Not familiar with the food so I think I would have been better off with someone who could explain what I’m looking at.

Went here the other day with a filipino friend and it was good filipino food — especially for the price you’re paying. I got the buffet all you can eat and filled myself. My favorite filipino dish is sinigang and it was delicious. I would describe it as home cooked filipino food. Everything I tried tasted good. The dessert was pretty simple. They accept cash or credit… I thought it was only cash based on the reviews and pictures. Obviously changed that The parking lot is small but there is an abundance of street parking on the side(when I was there). Their prices on meals are real good — and for what you’d getting it seems like good value. Didn’t get the meals — was just looking at what other people got. Nice staff. I’ll probably stop by in the future to get some stuff to go. The times are wrong.

What happened to this place ?? I have been here many times during the past few years and it seems like they serve the same typical Filipino food but what happened to the flavor? From the menudo to the Kare Kare, everything we ordered was under seasoned !!! We ordered 5 –2 item combos to go and all of the ulams were tasteless. So sad, I don’t think I will return.

As a guy on the verge of obesity nothing angers me more than wasted calories. This place is a classic case of quantity over quality. Came here for their AYCE buffet for $ 8 one lazy and unproductive Sunday. Lets face it, if you sleep in til noon and the first thing you do when you wake up is hit up a buffet then its pretty much a given you’re not changing the world that day or doing anything of importance for that matter. Read: food coma all day. Anyways this adventure was a mistake. Yes, back in my college days when I’m poor, this place would’ve been a godsend. I mean where else can you stuff yourself silly by just scrounging up loose change from the couch and your car? But since I’m in my late 30’s with a job, eating cheap, below average food and in large quantity is no longer my style. However my need to try every Filipino restaurant in the area made me go here. While the food is abundant, most of the dishes lacked flavor. It’s also served cafeteria style and since it wasn’t that busy, the food didn’t move so I don’t even know how long some of those dishes have been sitting under the heat lamps. If you’re dealing with a bout of poverty and want to check this out, it’s CASHONLY. Also you should be able to find parking in that small plaza since the shops/restaurants in there doesn’t seem too popular. You’ve been warned, foo!

I highly recommend their sisig. It’s not your usual sisig served sizzling on a hot plate with chicharon and egg though. Their take on this dish is chopped crispy pork belly tossed with green peppers, onions, with a hint of vinegar and black pepper. Imagine that crispy goodness in your mouth followed by a gulp of ice cold beer. It’s no surprise that this dish is always the first to disappear when we serve it at parties. The other dishes I’ve tried here do taste like home-cooked Filipino food. Other places like Bahay Kubo have food that are decent but taste more like party food(like what they’d serve at a debut, wedding, or fiesta), and party food is not something that satisfies that comfort-food craving. So if you grew up in the Philippines and miss your mom’s or your grandma’s cooking, Nanay Gloria is a good place to go and get that fix.

This is a good place if you only care about quantity. They have a $ 7.49 buffet that comes with a large bowl of rice and dessert(they gave us each a scoop of taro ice cream). That said, this place is filthy. They installed security cameras on the ceiling(which was a little weird to begin with) but if you look up, you’ll see it’s one of the many things caked in a thick, dark layer of dirt and dust. The lady working there was nice and some of the dishes tasted pretty decent, but I cannot say that my stomach felt particularly good after I ate there. My rule is: if you want me to risk food poisoning, the food better be worth it. And you know what? The food at Nanay Gloria just wasn’t worth it.

Pretty good filipino food from what I’ve had in my past experiences. AYCE for $ 7.95 I believe. Really can’t go wrong with that. Taste like home cooked Filipino food, sorta like what I have at my friend’s place. The sinigang was BOMB though. :) Oh and CASHONLY!

Great home cooked entrees that are cheap, cheap, cheap! All of Eagle Rock kababayans flock to Nanay Gloria so it can get pretty busy, especially after church. Craving yummy traditional foods like adobo, sinigang, pancit and even turon? Then swing on by. If you’re filipino, maybe you’ll see a long lost cousin or auntie… you never know!

I get random cravings of filipino food. I’ve been to Nanay Gloria’s in Eagle Rock but it’s a bit of a drive for me. This one is two lights down from my work. Been here a few times in the morning for their ayce breakfast for $ 6.99. It’s like a togo joint with home style cooking. I get my plate filled with garlic rice, longanisa, chicken adobo and sinigang salmon. Their sinigang salmon is my favorite item there! I think they use salmon belly because it’s very fatty but the sourness of the soup cuts it… i love it with rice! I think the one in Eagle Rock has more of a variety but I am satisfied with this one.

I was in the mood for FFFF(Fast Food Flip Food). With a friend and a Tom Tom GPS, we got lost from Hollywood, should of used the iPhone. Getting past that driving adventure, I just wanted some place simple, no fancy restaurant. This place offers a two item combo for under four bucks, the AYCE for under eight bucks and if you are under 9 years old, the AYCE is five bucks. Since I have never been here, I wanted to try more than two items, so AYCE was for me. Tried the pork adobo, pancit, sisig, beef steak, kare kare and pinakbet. There was more, but I got full fast. The food taste was like eating at a filipino family gathering or B-day; it was average. If in the area again, I would stop by to try more dishes and a Halo-Halo. So, here is the reason I took it down two stars. 1.) one of the workers took his lunch and took the LAST cold coke out of the refrigerator. 2.) there was no container for ice, so I had to dig into the ice maker, not a smart thing to have customer do that. 3.) the restroom could of been cleaner.

AYCE Filipino food for $ 6.99!!! Don’t get no better. Turon isn’t included though, I think it’s 50 cents each. I’ve only tried the buffet once and I believe they have different foods to choose from everyday. I went during brunch so they were still cooking food. They had a good selection of foods to choose from I was satisfied.

Average Filipino Cuisine So, I guess I have been here twice by now. Maybe more. My favorite thing here was the Turon. I had sisig, salty soup and the pansit. At least, that is all I can remember. Overall, a two star place for me. I have been exposed to enough filipino food in my life that I can say I just stick to good old home cooking. The restaurants tend to fail me time, after time, after time, after time, after time, after time, after time… I doubt I would come back. But, if I lived in the area a might. The people here are nice. The parking lot is a little cramped. Other than that, I have had better. Again, if I lived really close by I, I probably would have given this three stars.

Inconsistent Filipino fast food restaurant… I went here years ago with one Unilocaler friend and got yummy eggplant. I kept thinking wow it’s better than Bahay Kubo. My friend likes Bahay Kubo better so we never went back here. Recently I went back here again for lunch. I got sisig and the eggplant again. Sisig: not too bad but it wasn’t as good as the sisig my friend brought to the office from a Filipino supermarket. 3 stars! Eggplant: not good at all. 2 stars! Turon: very basic but at least they gave me giant slices of jackfruit. 3 stars! 2.5 stars based on that day! Nanay Gloria is not so yummylicious!

Wanted to be adventurous today and try out a new place to eat. Thought i’d give Filipino food a try since i’ve never tried it before. After reading rave reviews about this place and since i was in the neighborhood, my friend and I decided to give this place a try. All i can say is. after having lunch here, I love Filipino food! This place is awesome. The food was very tasty and according to my friend, one of the best he ever tasted(had lots of Filipino food before). The meat is so soft and tender, it just melts in youth mouth. I think this place is a family joint(thumbs up) which makes it that much better. Service was fast and great. Thank you nanay gloria for my 1st time experience in my Filipino adventure. Will def. be back for more!

It’s New Year’s Eve and I find myself reminiscing about living near here this summer. Oh 2009, you will be missed. ANYWAY — about Nanay Gloria. It’s a Filipino«turo turo»(which means«point point»; there I just saved you a Google search); maybe it helps to think of it as a Filipino Panda Express. Except 10x tastier. Nanay Gloria is also a chain; I’m guessing it’s privately owned because it sure doesn’t taste like a chain. Now, I’m NO expert in Filipino food(so take all my Chinese-biased advice with a huge grain of soy sauce). The adobe chicken(a Filipino staple, I’m told) is always tasty. All the other times, I just asked the nice ladies behind the counter for help and what was most popular. Usually everything was hella tasty, albeit at times, a little salty/oily. I do agree with others here that this place is better than the Bahay Kubo a block away. A great AND cheap place to get introduced to Filipino food. Worth a visit if you live in the neighborhood and want to try something that’s not East Asian cuisine. I remember the Nanay Gloria closing earlier than I expected, so check ahead if you’re going late night. Lastly, there are 2 small private lots. Try to use the front one because the back one can be kind of sketch at night.

One of the better tasting Filipino turo turo(point point) eateries in southern California! All the food looked fresh even when I went at 6:00 pm. Most places, if you go about this time, they seem like all they have are the left overs or the food has been sitting there all day and look dried, burned or overcooked. Not at Nanay Gloria’s! Everything looked scrumptious and appetizingly fresh! I decided on the beef mechado which is beef stewed in a tomato sauce and pinakbet which is a mixture of vegetables(sitaw, which are long beans similar to green beans; squash, tomatoes, onions, Japanese eggplant, okra) with pork pieces sauteed in a bagoong(shrimp paste) enhanced sauce. Delicious!!! There’s a cheeriness about the place too compared to most places and they had the t.v. tuned to TFC(The Filipino Channel on cable) and so I was able to enjoy the hamminess of the participants on the Filipino show Wowowee! Too funny! I will definitely come back here many times in the future if I’m ever in the area again!
