I’ve been going to Nan Thai for years after reading reviews online. you can often get the owner, Nan, to do your massage and this woman has magic hands. I’ve had stronger hands, but she just has an amazing touch. almost feels like some kind of Chi magic. it’s easy to make an appointment, even if it’s 5 minutes before you’d like to drop by. I’ve had massages at many of the Silverlake options and Nan Thai is the best!

This place works for me. I used to go to this other place further west on Sunset, but I had to stop because the only music they had was this instrumental version of «Tell Laura I Love Her» played on a koto.

No thai massage place has ever been terrible. If I lived in Palmdale(btw — that would never happen) and this was the only massage place around I would probably go here. Silverlake is not Palmdale and there are way too many options to settle on a Thai Massage here when there are so many better options. The first thing that clued me that this place kind of sucked was that they ask you if you want a regular to deep tissue Thai massage. A regular Thai Massage is $ 40 but a deep tissue Thai Massage is $ 55. Anyone who is familiar with Thai massage knows that a traditional Thai massage is deep tissue, so why the extra $ 15? Bullshit kids, bullshit. I paid for a regular Thai massage and it was the worst one I have had in LA. Go elsewhere.

I think it’s a function of living in L.A.(or maybe living in Bush’s America) but I seem to have these knots in my neck and shoulders all the time! There’s no better way to work out those kinks than with a Thai massage. If you’ve never had one before, be prepared for a fully interactive experience as your Thai massage therapist uses her hands, forearms, knees and feet to manipulate, pull, stretch and knead every part of your body. It’s kind of like a passive yoga workout combined with an intense pressure point massage. The owner, Nan, is an absolute master of her craft. If you can, request her. She and her husband also have an extensive staff of young women who are all really good, although I’ve had a couple who were a little too enthusiastic in their pummeling(or maybe I was feeling wimpy that day). The best part is that an hour-long massage costs only $ 40(not including tip)! One of these days I’ll splurge on a 2-hour, but I’m afraid I may pass out from sheer bliss. One hour is enough to send me home relaxed, happy and knot-free.
